No one associated with the team has made any comments about moving Collins

I'm not saying they have, but if they were going to talk about something like that to get a FA to come visit, they certainly wouldn't say it in a press conference.

He is a swing tackle.

We need a swing tackle.

Why is this so hard for everyone?

If I had to stop pretending I don't understand anyone else's point of view and take a wild guess, it might be because maybe he might not want to be a backup swing tackle anymore after starting 7 games last year, including the Superbowl?

Just a wild guess though.

Obviously, he's ideal for us with his experience. That doesn't mean he wants to leave a perennial superbowl contender to come do the same job here for equal or lesser pay.

As a note:
Be smarter fans.

When Dallas was talking to Htich's agent, it was leaked they were gonna play Jaylon more at SAM. --a position that only gets about 15 snaps a game.
Now when they are gonna offer Fleming (by far the best swing OT on the market) a deal they are considering moving Collins.

Relax, fans. This is recruiting season.
I don’t understand

bad move stop moving people..let fleming be a swing tackle for depth and sign cooper or a true LG . stop this crap they should have learned the double switch with chaz/cooper and a a lot of other trying to replace leary and move Collins was a failure and set us back but by season end it started to gel..stop FN with the continuity.

Collins best year as a pro was when he played LG. Moving him back is not the big disruption you're trying to make it out to be. Green can go back to being the swing tackle and Cooper can be the swing G. I'm in favor of trying Flemming at RT, IF he is signed. If he isn't all that then I would try Green at RT and have Flemming the swing tackle. The only time in Green's entire career he ever played guard was last season so putting him back at his natural position makes sense.

the patriots board mostly think of fleming as backup material

Orly?

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/right-tackle/

3rd highest paid right tackle in the NFL.

Ranked in the 50s out of 81 tackles by PFF.

So yeah both things I said are “remotely true.”

Lael Collins is not very good and he’s paid like he is.

Well I guess you school me with those PFF rankings.

The same rankings that told you Roy Williams was a better WR than Miles Austin when he had his break out year.

PFF is garbage. Useless to anyone who knows the game.

Does anybody here really need to look at PFF to know whether Collins is a better RT than Cooper is a G? You don't. You know. And if they tell me differently they're wrong.

Great move if possible. We’d be rock solid up the middle, and we don’t spend our top pick on OG.
I’d love this. Then we can still draft G/OT in round 4-5. This allows us to target our biggest needs on defense and WR early.

No they haven't just like they didn't make any comments prior to OTA's last year that they were moving him to RT.

PFF is not gospel but it is pretty damn good for Olinemen and a guy ranked 56th out of 81 is not remotely a good player. My eye test also tells me he is below average. I think you’re still enamored with his predraft rankings and even half of those said he wouldn’t be able to play tackle.

People keep making excuses for him like they did for Byron Jones. Oh he’s raw. Oh the coaching staff keeps moving him around. Fact is he’s just not very good. If he gets one more year at right tackle, it’ll become more obvious.

Bell, Looney, and Cooper are all FA. It seems pretty obvious the team is in no hurry to resign any of them.

The current OL on the roster are Smith Green Fred Martin LC. They need 4 more OL to fill out the roster including 2/3 more to take on gamedays.

The question remains what do they do with OG regardless of the signing. I like the idea of signing and drafting more OL plus keeping Green at OT. I think he is a talented OT when he has more than 2 weeks to prepare for the position. He was money at LT in 2016 for 3 games.

Sign Fleming, sign/draft 2 interior guys and lets roll. That would be great depth. Finally.
They have Kadeem Edward's who they brought up to the 53 at the end of the year.

But he's not ranked 56th. That's the thing.

They moved him to RT not to salvage him but to fill the glaring hole there when Free left.

He very well may be but how many times have we all seen a backup player on another team go to a new team and look like an entirely different player? The 1st thing I thought of when just before the OTA's last year when the Cowboys announced they were moving Collins to RT was when Collins came to the Cowboys Free was rehabbing an injury and they tried Collins at RT and determined that he was a guard in the NFL. So they played him at guard all through training camp and when Leary suffered a pulled groin in week 1 Collins went in and played LG until week 16 when he got injured. This was 2015 and it was Collins best year as a pro. He was a far better LG than he was at RT last season so I'm in favor of moving Collins back to LG and finding another LT.

when collins came to cowboys, free was the senior statesman who may have gotten a priority over collins.
lord knows, we kept free for a year or two too much because he was some type of ol leader despite.
if fleming was a decent starter, i would suspect patriots would have tried keeping him the year before.

collins was lt in college and most expected to him as a rt, not g.
that means he has certain measurables that fleming probably lacks.
my guess is his agility which you need for ot play.

Swing tackle. Leave Collins at RT. This position flex crap and moving people back and forth is ridiculous
Don’t want to see Collins moved
He was paid to be a tackle and developed well as season went on
Sign Fleming as the swing tackle
Sign the guard they have looked at. He can also play center
Then draft and develope a LG
I don’t think you can or have to have elite talent at left guard with an elite center next to him
Cooper played ok and he’s never been that good
