Back in the day Roy Tarpley played power forward for the Mav. He was a tremendous talent. The guy owned the paint. And scored at almost will. But....

He had a drug and alcohol problem. He served suspensions and was in rehab many times.

The crowd following the Mavs wanted him cut. But, and I think it was either Norm Hitzges or Randy Galloway said, "You ride that horse until it falls because you cannot get out from under him."

Now Lee is nothing like Tarpley. Lee has the want to. Lee has the intellect. Lee teaches people around him. And Lee is the most talented linebacker Dallas has.

Regardless of your opinion, Lee is the mother lode. But....

Lee doesn't do drugs or has an alcohol problem. He has a physical problem with his legs that means he misses time.

But....

You ride that horse until he falls, because you can't get out from under him. Simple as that.

Fans have short memories. LVE is off to a great start, but he is no Sean Lee. Sean Lee’s football instincts allow him to make plays behind the LOS on a regular basis and be in position on passes in the seam or anywhere else on the field. Just last week vs the Texans the middle of the field was wide open on many pass plays with LVE playing middle linebacker. That doesn't happen with Sean Lee. Honestly, to say LVE is better than Sean Lee right now is ridiculous. As Tony Romo, Troy Aikman or any X player and they will say the same thing.

LVE is a beast in the making. And he’s only 21. A very sound tackler. No way he gets pulled off the field the way he’s playing.
Lee and Jaylon will be on the field if both are healthy, unless they are resting one of them for a few plays which would probably be smart.

Start both of them. It will maximize the talents on the defense. LVE will continue to improve.

However, the FO needs to strongly consider cutting ties with Lee next offseason. Money can be used for talented free agents.
There is NO free agent with Lee’s skill set. Keep him and hope his hamstrings heal up completely. Sean Lee is to valuable to this team when he’s playing. Do you watch the games?

Sean Lee makes everyone play better because not only is he a stud LB, but he makes everyone else better with his instincts and leadership.

Not only valuable to the team when playing but his study habits with film and knowledge helps this team immensely!

I was saying in general that the money should go towards Free Agency on any position that the team needs to fill. Think long term dude.

How can you keep a 30 plus year old player who keeps getting injured almost every year?

I don't even have to ask the question because I know you don't watch the games due to not being aware that Lee is getting older and continues to get injured each season but apparently you are unaware.

LVE is not better than Lee, but his advantage is that he is very young and he's available... Sean Lee on the field can arguably be the best lb in the game.

Never thought I would say that but it is true. Here’s why -

1. Lee has been a great player but is not reliable
2. LVE was supposed to be a guy that needed more experience. I don’t see it. He is always around the play, I have not seen him miss a tackle, and he is BIG.
3. LVE is a big guy. He will probably end up being 260 pounds. Guys go down when he hits them. Lee was always a bit undersized.
4. LVE is very quick. Big man who is a glider but man he covers ground. Smith is more of a quick twitch player but LVE is extremely fluid for a big man. Lee was always quick but has no advantage over LVE in speed.
5. LVE has been excellent in coverage. That was his rep and he has been good. Long limbed guy that is tough to throw around.
6. LVE is just starting to come into his own. He will get bigger and with more experience...

I hope they don’t stunt his growth when Lee is healthy.

Thoughts?
Not to worry, Lee will be hurt again very soon!

The middle of the field was wide open when LVE was out there?

YEAH, RIGHT...

Sean Lee at full strength and health is one of the more elite LB's in the league. The problem is, we never see that guy and in the first few weeks of the season he was sloppy and rusty.

LVE, the "Tacklin' Dutchman", is the real deal. There may not be an open field tackler in the NFL that is better.

People like to laugh about it, but he's so good in the open field BECAUSE he played 8-man...

Dude's just a total specimen from Riggins, Idaho...

point is, Lee has dominated in most of these division games
he knows these teams and it's him at his best
I can't like that enough...

Totally true...

However, we all forget that there's now real issue here - it's great times to be a fan - they'll all be playing and helping each other, regardless...

Sean is still the leader, and LVE wouldn't act like a schmuck, he's gonna respect Lee's dues...

Depth is good...

But back to topic, you can just tell Leighton can bulk up his upper body bigtime.. You know he will, and just look at dude's neck..

We are lucky to have Smith, Lee and LVE. It's on the coaches to make it work. Kris and Rod will figure it out

Hard to believe he's 256-260. Could guess he's in the 230 range if I didn't know any better.
Sky is the limit for him.

What I find impressive looking back on TC, was that he was out with that hammy injury for most of PS. Sure as hell didn't look like a rookie LB that missed time in TC/PS these past few weeks.
I guess Lee wasn't fibbing when he said LVE is a fast learner.
