Good morning Pops and Zoners friends.

We had a wonderful time visiting our daughter and her family in Orlando this past weekend. We stayed at one of the Disney resorts and had a big pool party for our 3 year old grand daughter's birthday.

A few quick observations from our trip: athough we have been to WDW many times, I continue to marvel at what a first class operation Disney is. From the parks to the resorts to dining to the landscaping, it is first rate.

Everyone one of the parents of the kids attending the pool party had tattoos. Now, I have no issue with tats, but I just found it interesting - more like a fashion statement than anything else. Most of the tats we're illegible Sanskrit or Japanese characters.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy living in Orlando and seemed a bit incredulous that we chose to live in Colorado.

This brings me to the next observation - the quickest way to shut down a discussion with a Floridian is to mention the weather and, in particular, our recent mild temperatures in Colorado - in the mid-20's. They get a blank stare of incomprehension, shiver and walk away.

The last observation is the boundless energy of 3 and 5 year old kids - it will take me a few more days to recover.
( morning PoPs)

Morning Pops, buds and budettes, unlike MacArthur promised, I have returned. I had a homecoming party but I think the guests got the date wrong. How could all of them get the date wrong? I may need a review of my invitees in the future. I guess they got the "recommended gifts" list wrong too.

As a reminder, I just returned from our annual gathering of the cousins close as siblings and where else but in Arkansas? We witnessed the running of the ponies and it was an unusual circumstance as all of the favorites were winning and coming in 2nd so we had to get creative to make anything and it was really difficult but I did not exceed my "what's this? Money that belongs to someone else that I should really return" stash. Good deed done, all returned. But it was still a kick in the pants watching those beautiful animals run.

I hope everyone had a nice "most over-rated day of the year for those not Irish" day and Zeke didn't pull down another lass's top at the parade. That is a great St. Patty's parade and I do miss that.

OK, assignments everyone and no excuses. Make this Monday the best you can to make this week the best you can and do not accept no as an answer. Make those around you appreciate this day more and they will appreciate you more.

Hey C-C ,glad to hear you survived the reunion
( some of those things can devolve into confused Mayhem once a bottle is broken out,,,er,,,or so I've heard)

I just wanted to touch base with you in a follow-up question ,as I'd gathered you were long shot betting on the horses? like maybe those 64 to 1 odds?
I also found the part of
" returning the what's this money stash" HILARIOUS( without any further elaboration as to why)
Therefore & in conclusion I shall close as you have opened,,,er,,,
concercerning the mentioning of GEN.MacArthur, do you know his father ,Gen. Arthur MacArthur keeled over stone cold dead while at the podium in the banquet hall addressing a REUNION of some kinda past campaign or something ,back in 1912 when Doug was only 32 y.o.( wait, there's heap big plenty more bizarre weirdness to what I'm laying out here)
As the general lay dead on the floor ,his long time of service adjunct (right hand man Friday)
Covered his beloved dead General with the blood stained units campaign battle flag & then he hisself promptly keeled over stone cold dead likewise as well,,,have a great day,Bro!

Not those long shots, rarely get past 20 to 1, but I did hit a 30 to 1 a couple of years ago and had him in an exacta as well. It was tough on the seasoned pros in the box next to us as well and it was 3 days in a row of favorites, very unusual. The Derby is going to be a tough one as Trainer Bob Bafert's 2 sure thing's came in 2nd on Sat for their first losses. But since he's had the last two Triple Crown winners in American Pharoah and Justify, no one is taking him lightly.

Since Douglas MacArthur was born in my hometown of Little Rock, he's always been this bigger than life historical figure to me but I was unaware of how his father's aid passed, bizarre weirdness indeed.

We broke many bottles out and they're variety drinkers as I am so it was constantly "what are you having next"? "Oh I don't know, let's have a beer while we discuss it further". The best thing is there isn't a mean drunk among us or even a belligerent one as long as we all keep the pace.

Afternoon Pops and everyone.

Survived the weekend. Not a partier in the sense that I feel the need to go out and get stupidrunk, but if you knew where I lived you would fully understand why it's a feat to have just made it through the weekend without being approached by a zombie-like leprechaun. I'm in a downtown apartment (Davenport, Iowa) where there are many bars that host street festivals during certain seasons, and this last weekend was the kickoff of that season for 2019. My street is one that is closed for any parade that happens by. I don't know why at my age it still amazes me how grown people can act so stupid and do lewd things in public. It's like the nighttime creatures crawled from the sewers for a bit of sunshine for an entire weekend that stretches from after work Thursday straight through this morning at 2am. Thankfully I live in the same building where I work and didn't have to deal with the people this year. I became a recluse and stayed in the safety of my apartment.

I'm over the whole scene and have my sights set on getting out of here this year... and finally getting some sleep on the weekends. I'm over the bar brawls, loud music and trash talk until 2am, and of course the shootings, though I will miss my close proximity to the river (even with the spring flooding).

On to happier thoughts... with a little warmer weather the snow from this winter has finally gone and I heard a bird chirping the other day... and I'm making a little progress on getting back to my jogging routine, and feeling much better about it (even if it is just on the treadmill and not on the beaches in he Bahamas (ahem...) (Got back to a 10 minute mile so far)

Everyone have a great rest of your day and hope you feel as productive as I am feeling today. Got an itch to start some spring cleaning.

Be blessed.

Evening Pops and friends. I got up with purpose today. I was going to get things ordered for home repairs and file my taxes. I tried to order yesterday, but the Lowe's website couldn't handle all their sale traffic. I put my stuff in the cart and tried to make sure I had everything before hitting "secure checkout". I finally hit it and there was a problem with my credit card. I called and talked to someone that said the website had bogged down but I had until Tuesday morning to utilize the sale. Well, it looks like a trip to the store with my list because the little card that could turned into a pumpkin. Next comes taxes which is slightly less fun than a colonoscopy. Taxes all done, now to hit "file via interwebs". I did that and it asked me questions I could not answer along with a warning that guessing would get me flagged with the infernal revenue service. In closing, tomorrow absolutely has to be better!

Look what I found on Amazon! :omg: It changes color with the water temperature. A fancy, shiny faucet! See what happens when I search long enough? Danged Lowe's hide!

Good morning Pops and Zoners Friends.

Don't you just love dealing with service representatives over poor or incomplete service?

While the after affects of last week's snowmagedden have largely subsided, we are still dealing with the cancellation of our hotel reservations in Russian River. The hotel charged us for the full stay prior to our arrival, despite their website clearly stating that payment would not be made until check-in.

The fun, though, began when we called the morning of our travels to advise that the Denver airport was closed, all flights were canceled and providing them written notice that the airline would not be able to re-confirm our travel for at least 3 days. Since we were only staying at the hotel 2 nights, our request to cancel the reservation and refund us the amount charged seemed more than reasonable - especially since the hotel had a force majeure clause that allowed for late cancellation.

But, nooooo (if you are a classic SNL fan, hear the "no" in Steve Martin's voice). After hours on the phone with various mealy-mouth, incompetent, purveyors of faux indignation, we recouped 1/2 of the hotel room.

I am not giving up. Have filed a complaint with the better business bureau, stopped payment on the credit card and completed a hotel survey with a scathing report.

My next step is to show up at the hotel with a Jack Nicholson, Shining look and scream, "here's Johnny"

Otherwise, life is good!

Evening Pops and friends. I did the world a favor today. I sent myself back to bed before I could leave the house and put the entire city in a bad mood. They will never know how bad their day could have gone unless I'm in rare form tomorrow.
I have faucet envy.
First we must deal with Leon Envy. BeachCoach sounds so much better than WeirdFaucetCoach.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. We are back home now but we had a wonderful time in the Bahamas. Lots of time sight seeing, beach combing (found lot's of pretty shells including conch shells), hiking, and scoping out various shops and restuarants. I didn't want to come home. The people were very pleasant there.

Have a happy hump day everyone.

Morning Pops and everyone. Welcome back Leon and welcome to National Happiness Day. Hope you all find some today:D.

Made it to the middle of the week and the first day of spring. Woke up this morning (good start:)) to the sound of rain and the realization it's time to swap out snow boots for umbrellas. For myself I much prefer winter snows to spring rains. That rain is so cold this time of the year that it seems to soak deep into the bones (at least you can brush off the snow.) Starting to show my age ;).

Everyone enjoy the slide toward the weekend.

Afternoon Pops, friends and our favorite cousin, Leon. Sorry to hear you're back home, but welcome none the less. We didn't burn the place down while you were gone. I don't think there was even any smoke. We've just gotten all sorts of civilized around here.

YES SIR! Football is pulsating in the background with a few teasers for the faithful. We acquired Cobb which I'm pretty sure I've given a few cussings over the years. They need to scour his body thoroughly to get all those Green Bay cooties off before allowing him to enter our locker room. Sorry SOB, I mean welcome to the Cowboys sh** a**. Behave yourself, get us lots of touchdowns and I will take back what I think about you. Yep, that's where I stand on that. Good thing my TiVo broke.

Our ice cream truck has a new song this year. Classical music is heavily preferred to the clownish music with a loud female voice going "HELLO" at the end of every verse. Speaking of clownish, I watched Master Chef Junior. I'm astounded at what these kids can do. They had to cook for circus performers last night. They broke into two groups and one group didn't have much faith in their dishes so they decided to kill the performers with kindness. You could hear them telling each other "compliment them". The bearded lady came up and they chirped "I like your outfit!". She'll need a few more years before she can join Duck Dynasty. At the end, Gordon Ramsey asked who was responsible for the dishes. That group turned into a bunch of squealers and finger pointers. It was hilarious! The final challenge was to make a birthday cake. They didn't have boxed cake mixes either! I wouldn't last long on that show.

Have a good evening all!

Good evening Pops and friends. Been real busy this past week. I had just started mowing the yard when the mower belt broke on my riding mower. It took me 3 tries until I got the right sized belt. You have to remove 7 pin clips located under the mower just to remove the mower deck. Then you slide it out to replace the belt. I had to do that more than once. Then I noticed my blades would keep turning after I hit the disengagement lever. That’s a safety issue so thanks to utube I was able to fix it but it meant having to remove the mower deck again.

Today I cleaned it up really good under the hood and out and changed the oil. It’s 15 years old and still running good, don’t know how to convert that to human years. Probably about 150 .
I also fired my pressure washer and washed 2 driveways. Once you start it’s hard to stop. The Mrs also reminded me that one of the showers still has a slow drip. I just took it apart and put it back together and it stopped leaking. Keeping my fingers crossed in that one.

Xelda, you have me craving ice cream now. Gonna check the freezer ;)

Have a great rest of the week everyone. Be blessed.
