Almost the same number of good snaps he's played at left guard.
Looney is MUCH better than him right now. I have no idea why Looney is backing up Williams. Looney is far better.
I like this and agree. On the offensive line, I wouldn't trade anybody because McGovern is still injured, but I wouldn't mind trading Taco or Crawford for an offensive tackle because with Smith's back issues, I am not at all comfortable with just Fleming as our swing tackle
Looney wouldn't and isn't LG. That's Connor Williams jobZeke and La’el to Houston, Clowney and a 2 to Washington, Guice and Trent Williams to Dallas.
Smith - Looney - Frederick - Martin - TWilliams
Best Oline in NFL history?
OL - Fleming
DL - T-Craw
And how many snaps has Williams played at right tackle since he was drafted??????
Looney isn't backing up Williams. He's backing up Frederick. I don't think he's played a snap at guard this preseason because his strong position is center. You say that Looney is far better, but we haven't seen that at guard. We can't automatically translate how a player plays at one position to another. They have different responsibilities.
Now, Looney will be the gameday backup at guard, but that doesn't mean he's even a better guard than Su'a-Filo. It just saves us a game-day roster space to carry only one tackle and one interior lineman.
I don't know where the myth that Looney is a starting-caliber guard got started, but I suspect it's because he did fill in well at center while Frederick was out. Saying because he played well at center means he'd play well at guard would be almost like saying any good guard can play tackle.
In the only times we've really seen Looney at guard, he was a marginal player, good enough to be a backup but not start. However, I will admit that that was apparently before he worked hard to get in better shape, so he could be better at it now.
?How many did Byron Jones play at safety before we moved him to CB?????
?
That's not a parallel question.
Shouldn't it be:
And how many snaps has Williams played at right tackle (before moving him to RT)?
And how many snaps has Jones played at CB (before he moved to CB in 2018)?

Cowboys getting calls about their offensive, defensive linemen

The Cowboys are deep on the offensive line. They’re deep on the defensive line.
Thus, it should come as no surprise that the Cowboys have gotten calls from teams interested in trading for one of the team’s linemen.
“We do get calls on both offensive and defensive lines,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday. “We’ve made that a priority over the years, and it’s a strength of ours, and some teams are interested in it.
“Yeah, I think there’s a possibility for sure that we could move somebody.”
The Cowboys, though, likely will want a draft pick, and not a player, in return.
Trade a guy only if you are going to release him anyway or if the compensation is more than hay with to you.
Why can’t we keep everyone? You can't keep everybody. Might as well get something for them.
I wouldn’t trade Taco for less than a 2nd.
Why can’t we keep everyone?
