I'm just amazed at how badly he's misread the Jones family. They would (and have) done anything for him, there was a big fat contract waiting for him after this season and the undying loyalty of some very powerful people. The absolute worst thing he could have done was stab them in the back and then badmouth other players on the team. He needs to find a way to transfer this mess over to Faulk and company, blame it on them, then fire them.

Why. Did the league cancel those games and give us the win?
The two division games scare me a little bit. If Dallas Comes out motivated then they'll be 3-0. But Dallas hasn't been 3-0 since 2008 (missed the playoffs that year btw)...History has said in the Garrett era they start off 2-1.

Dak is not going to have a huge year without Zeke[/B]. The run game will not be effective without Zeke.

In game adjustments will confuse a rookie OC.

Base defenses (no one in Cowboys backfield to command stack fronts) and heavy blitzes will seriously disrupt Dak and the passing game.

…..and yet Roethlisberger, Brady, Bree, Luck and others finish in the top 7 of QBR last year and not one of those QB's mentioned had a rusher ranked in the top 10 last year. Just more excuses from the Dakota Apologists who want to overpay Mr. Mediocre whos claim to fame is staying healthy and making commercials

Cowboys need to get another back for those few games. Pollard, Morris, Chunn ain't cutting it. If Pollard goes down we're screwed.

Where are the fines? He needs to start the fines to hit Zeke in the pocket book that much more. Unless they are fining him and did not say it.
But if not, this is another stupid decision by Jones not to fine him. I could see why not as to keep the negotiations a bit more peaceful. But now it has gone too far.

I'll say this............... there is a very small silver lining here.

We get to see Dak without Elliott. If Dak truly is this ascending, developing QB that is on the cusp of being one of the greats in football and deserving of a massive, Top 3ish contract.............. then there should be no excuses for his performances starting the year.

But if he and the offense struggle, it feeds the notion that he needs Elliott. And in that case, the Cowboys might be foolish paying him what he wants.

Completely agree. Love Dak, but am hesitant of his contract demands.

This will tell us what we need to know, once and for all.

If he’s throwing for 186 and we are scoring 13 points without Zeke on the field, time to rescind that offer that’s on the table.

Hopefully Zeke wakes up, fires his management team and accepts the generous offer. Then he can blame the whole thing on his agent or Faulk,,, his teammates will have a reason to like him again.

His teammates don't dislike him. They understand the business of the game because they're in it. It's fans who are "uncomfortable" with high dollar squabbling that raises their anxiety.

There's business and then there's ego and greed,,, these guys have a season on the line and their own dwindling pieces of pie to worry about.

If we win games without Zeke, not only is he flushing game checks down the toilet, any leverage he thinks he has evaporates as well.

Zeke has the most to lose in this staring contest. There is no reason for the FO to change their position unless there is a serious injury to Pollard or the running game just craters.

I could easily see us winning the first three games out of the gate, and that will place tremendous pressure on Zeke and his camp.
3-0 is very possible
2-1 should be the floor

And if he suffered a career-ending injury this year?

He wants to be the highest paid RB in the league. In the past 3 years, he has been. Where's the greed there?

The Cowboys haven't had the privilege of having RB of Zeke's level since Emmitt.
We still have a loaded oline, dline, lbs, cbs, and wrs.
The deck I absolutely stacked for Dak and the team in general.
I think we can win anyway...just not quite as well as we would with Zeke.

The two years left thing is part of it.

One would think if you're going to get a raise a year earlier than normal that it'd be factored in as a slight discount.
And by "discount" I still mean right around Gurley money.

I think it’s at the point now they offered him a great amount and his agent is in his ear telling him he should get more but where’s leverage? He’s losing 250,000 a week and has 2 years left on his deal.

If we lose first few he has leverage but if they win

Lol I made a thread around year ago saying we should have put Zeke on the trade block

Looks like some are coming around to the idea
