I was born in 1986 and became a Cowboys fan in 92. I only vaguely remember those glory days. After several years of mediocrity and disinterest, Tony Romo brought my passion for the Cowboys back to life. There was just something about him where I always felt we had an opportunity. Football became fun again and I owe that to Tony.

It really sucks that Tony's body couldn't keep up with his mind. I just want this guy so badly to get the break he deserves. I hope whatever the next couple years bring him, he gets the chance to lead a team to the promised land. It's crazy to think it could be in a different uniform, still can't wrap my head around it, but that's how much I respect this guy. It's like seeing Ware get his ring but x 10. Hopefully this is an "everything happens for a reason" situation for him.

I love you for being the classiest QB in the NFL. For putting this team first, despite your own ambitions. For not distracting Dak, or the rest of the team, with your own interests. I love you for all that you have endured while Jerry failed you for your whole career, and not holding a grudge. Never complaining, never blaming anyone else, a stark contrast in this day and age of entitled finger pointing.

What a true champion in heart you are. I love you that you will always be a part of the Dallas Cowboys franchise, championship or not, and I love you that you were a part of our team, our starting QB, for a decade.

Every franchise couldn't be so lucky as to have a true pro like you. I love you that you were my QB and I can't wait to see where your life takes you next. Whether it's back on the field or elsewhere.

Tony Romo. America's QB.

Keeping him around next year would be horrible for Romo and the team.

Dallas has to use the money they will free up to add defensive help and Romo still wants to play so he should allowed to leave and do just that.
if tony wants to go then let him go, but if he wants to stay I say let him stay.
also no telling what happens rest of this season.
I will be looking for a suited up romo on sideline, and if he doesnt , that says he doesnt want to be a bkup.
I think he should suit up and do it, then he may have to come in if dak gets hurt.

Can't say enough good things about Tony. As a player and a person. We've been so blessed to have him as our starting QB for a decade. I'll always love and respect what he's has done for this franchise. I'm a younger fan so I don't have as many memories of the Aikman era, much less the Staubach era. Tony Romo is MY quarterback and I'll never forget how he's made me into the die-hard Cowboy fan I am today. He's been so criminally underrated and unfairly criticized throughout his career. I've gone to bat for him countless amounts of times against opposing fans and even tons of Cowboys fans who never believed in him. I always believed in him and would ride with number 9 any day. Hope we see him right next to Jason Witten in the ring of honor one day.

No way we'd keep the highest paid backup QB in NFL history.

When we win the Super Bowl, it'll be bittersweet. After all that Romo has done for this franchise, he'll get zero credit as Dak hoists the Lombardi.

Not true.. we even went away right after a game when Felix had 100 yards and refused to run again..

Felix wasn't consistent, was suffering injuries so we had to go away from it and we didn't have the OL we have now. We also were stuck with Tashard Choice. It forced us to become pass happy.

That is what really ticks me off, because this whole thing is like Dallas had taken off because Romo is no longer the starting QB, when he's the one that took all the bruises and injuries because Jason Garrett couldn't adjust to a blitz and refused to even use play action or screen plays.

Now that the OC is doing thins we've never seen, the OL is crushing everybody and we got Zeke, it's as if Romo always had this but he's the reason this team failed..

I rooted for Ware last year. If Tony leaves I'll root for him too except when he plays the Cowboys. Same way I did Emmitt.

He just started and he ran him 7 times in a game right after running for over a hundred yards of my memory serves me right. Saying he wasn't consistent while not giving him opportunities is BS. Plus, Felix was the pick that Garrett wanted while Phillips wanted Johnson.

Garrett went away from the run against GB in 2013 in the second half, despite putting up over 100 in a half. He was always criticized for it.

Dan Reeves almost coming here for that was a fact. Is going completely zone blocking after Garrett running man for years is a fact. None of this was by Garrett's 'design'.

Wade is as constantly trying to get Garrett to control the clock and the ball, and to prevent TOs.

And Tony made Gurode, Adams and Davis Pro Bowlers his time here.

Garrett never knew how to run the ball.

Whatever, I'm not going waste anymore time arguing it. I've giving my opinion.

well he might take less than his current pay, or whatever next years is.
I just think this was all a little early and final, I think dak should get the rest of the year., but still not sure
he is as great as he seems.
The rest of the season will tell more about that.

Paying Romo $17 plus million to be a back up QB would be totally incompetent. There is a salary CAP and the Cowboys will have a 4 year window without having to pay a QB or RB. They need to take advantage of that window to bring in a few stud defensive players to fill in the blanks.
