Boise State with the #3 seed. Love it!! :flagwave:

Glad to see SMU got in over Alabama.
IF they want credibility, they need to stop giving first rd byes to conference winners who are not even ranked in the top ten

BUT I DO ENJOY ALABAMA BEING SNUBBED. ABOUT TIME.

Not just Alabama. The sec was not snubbed but I thought they would have just as many teams as the B1G.

Texas dominated the 1st half and only came away with 2 FGs. That’s going to cost them the game. They weren’t going to dominate Georgia for a full game.
The Turn Overs was what made the difference IMO.

I don't have any issues with the teams selected. I do have an issue with the seeding. For BSU and ASU to jump to the top is absurd. They need to fix this.

Love the seeding. Keep it forever and let people cry.
It makes the Championship games mean something. Without that what exactly were UT/Georgia playing for? Giggles?
Committee got it right for once.

They certainly didn’t help, but the missed field goals and drive killing penalties were probably bigger. They also missed out recovering 2 fumbles.
UT shot itself in the foot 15 times in that game and Georgia fielded a literal HS offense.
Both will need to play a lot better to advance in CFP.

You can count on it.

I think they explained it well on the selection show.

Like with the NCAA basketball tourney....IF they are going to have conference championship games, it's a good idea to give several champions an automatic bid.

HOWEVER, there is no reason--nor ever has been--to attach that to seeding.

By their rankings, the seeding should be (and will probably be in the future)
Byes
1) Oregon
2) Georgia
3) Texas
4) Penn St

1st Round Games
5) Notre Dame vs 12) Clemson
6) Ohio St vs 11) Arizona St
7) Tennessee vs 10) SMU
8) Indiana vs 9) Boise St

I agree. It shakes things up and adds parity, giving us something fresh to watch instead of the same handful of teams facing off at the end.

I think it’s time to crack the whip on ND. They need to join a conference and the playoff has all the leverage to force that change.

Thought experiment: Alabama vs Indiana on a neutral field. How many points you giving Indiana?

Yep. I wouldn’t be surprised if Clemson wins. Never underestimate the capacity for Ewers to screw things up. His decision making is very poor. I just don’t see him as a top-tier NFL QB.

Dream on, Notre Dame will stay the way it is and if they try something hello lawsuit. You can whine all you want

Current model mandates that they never get a BYE. another reason I support the current model.
I also support anything that Greg Sankey cries about.

YES, there is a reason to attach it to seeding.
And the NCAA tourney is a perfect example why.
Tourney winner getting to go face a 1 seed is not a reward.

The current CFP tourney is imminently more watchable and exciting than what you posit.
Anything that benefits the SEC and Big 10 should be killed off entirely.
Talking heads in business with those 2 big confs are not the commentators we need to take seriously.

The SEC is a murderers row. BSU and ASU would be lucky to finish in the top half.
No, it isn't.
The SEC has a ton of fluff teams.
And the SEC was mediocre in non conf.
Losses to Cal, ASU, USC, ND, Toledo, Georgia State!!! Back blown out by Miami.
Where are these big SEC non conf wins???

UT is a deep and very talented team, but they appear soulless.
I think Arch will change that next year.

the mean part of me would kind of appreciate it if Manning is not what he has been puffed up to be
