They should stay in the same conference, it's one of the better rivalries in college sports. I mean the first line in the Aggie War HymN is about UTexas, are they going to change it to "Goodbye to Georgia University". A big part of A&M's recruiting is the kids that didn't go to UT wanting to play against UT, and it's basically the best of Texas High School Football playing each other.

The whole thing is ridiculous.

Top names UT, I mean Big 12, will consider from several sources: Notre Dame, BYU, Air Force in that order.

i highly doubt notre dame goes anywhere, but byu and air force would be interesting, air force is closer than colorado was anyway, if they were willing to take BYU i wish they would go after boise state instead

The Big XII won't last. Missouri will look to leave once A&M does, OU and Okie State are already contacting the Pac-12, and deep down Texas has wanted to go independent all along so they can have free reign with their network.

Deep down? I disagree with that. Deep down, Texas has wanted to go west. Larry Scott didnt say the LHN will stop the Horns chances on getting to the pac 12. He said it was an inpediment. An impediment that that can be rectified. The two parties obviously feel they can get an agreement.

Your AD has said he will take his ball and go home and pout if A&M leaves, promising to not play us anymore.

As for the money, well, you're just wrong. Bleed us dry? What does that even mean?

That is not what Dodds said. He said they would be glad to play, but it would be on a sport by sport basis and he couldn't guarantee anything given their current commitments...

I like both schools, but don't hang this on UT... A&M is the one bolting...

The Pac 12 is a BIG mistake. First of all, fans can't travel that far. Second of all, fans won't be happy about 10:30 games cst...

I think Texas may end up in the Big 10 along with others...

bottom line is that there were a lot of powerful people within the university that for one reason or another wanted to move to the SEC since last year, maybe even before that. To say that they are leaving because of UT's (arrogance) is ridiculous, i dont see how it has been any different now from years past. The issues TAMU had with the LHN have already been resolved for the most part. They are leaving because they want to go to the SEC because they think its a better situation for them, saying otherwise is just scapegoating.

well, i dont think the travel is really that much of a concern for them considering the money is mostly made from TV contracts, etc. and secondly, i doubt they would broadcast a game with a CST team that late. If, say, OU was playing USC in LA, they wouldnt start that game later than 8 CST.

but i think for the most part most teams will get absorved by the MWC and WAC, maybe C USA. I think only OU and Okie state would get invites to the Pac 12, and only Mizzou would get an invite to the big 10. well, maybe the kansas schools go to the big east, for basketball purposes. I think (hope) if the big 12 falls apart that texas will go independent and not join the PAC 10 or SEC. If anything id rather them join the big 10, we would once again have that guaranteed win vs Nebraska:D

i think arkansas would become their biggest rival, or LSU if they can continue to improve in football like they have the last couple of years

If they break it into two divisions of east west, you wouldn't have to worry about that. Even better they break it up In pods of four. Texas will rarely play the coastal teams each year

I'm gonna have to find me an Aggie alum and seriously question him about away tickets. That may be the only way I get to see them play Georgia.

I grew up in an A&M household, and graduated from the University of Georgia. That'd be a game I'd love to go to!

Now the buzz on sports radio is about not only A&M bolting for the SEC (which seems to be a done deal), but also Clemson, Florida State, and Missouri.

Ok, the others I can see, but Missouri? Like ZeroClub said, there should be at least some geographic sense to these conferences, and Missouri is anything but a "southeastern" school.

In fact, I seriously doubt the SEC would want them. What would they add? Supposedly they were rumored to be looking into the Big Ten along with Nebraska, and the Big 12 didn't really care if they stayed or not, unlike NU.

those are more of the teams the media is speculating they might go after because they dont want to have an odd number of teams in their conference. and thats IF A&M higher ups approves he move (likely to happen) and the SEC presidents vote on inviting them (not a total slam dunk)

Missouri would add in the Saint Louis media market to the SEC, just like the reason the SEC would want A&N is a bigger foothold in the Texas media markets.

I think you are wrong about the Big 12 wanting to keep Nebraska more then Missouri. Nebraska might have a better football program but they bring nothing as far as TV markets, and that is what drives all conference alignment issues.

In the long run the LHN is probably ESPN's first shot at trying to dig into the regional network market, ie FSSW and the like. They will see how it runs for a while and after a few years either decide to expand things or blow it up. Right now I have a hard time seeing how any university can provide enough original programing that any one would actually want to watch to make a channel a success. Bigger things like MLB and NFL frequently resort to showing historical games and pretty mediocre original programing.
