If this was untrue OU wouldn't have turned down the SEC just a few weeks ago to stay.
What would A&M gain from going to the SEC really, though? The SEC is an even TOUGHER conference and even though A&M is a pretty decent team, they will NEVER win anything over there. The only real explanation is the LHN. The LHN is basically a giant "**" to all of the other Texas state schools. It gives the Longhorns a huge advantage in coverage and recruiting.
