You can have Mike Singletary passion the Courtney Browns,Pat Watkins,Cory Proctors,Mcquistons of the world and it's not going to make a difference, At the end of the day most of it just comes down to being talented football players. They simply arn't. These are "professionals" fighting for a spot. If that doesn't get them fired up alone then I don't know what to say.

I don't blame this on Wade Phillips at all. The 1st team defense and offense came out ready to play. Being pinned back at the 10 just plain sucks and is difficult to start a game like that. They came back with a response and handled business. We just have backups who really suck. It's not a matter of motivation. Your fighting for your life and making an income!! That's more than enough motivation. I'm sorry. I don't buy the Wade Phillips bashing.

In any event, I just think it's a telling sign when our back-ups can't seem to compete with another teams back-ups, even guys that have been around for a couple of years.

It's because they arn't very that good. It's really just as simple as that.

Some people's hate for Wade Phillips know no limits.

If you have very little talent, no yelling or hat throwing is going to make you play better. It's as simple as that.

So tell me what happened when the first team units came out last December in Philly?

Cause I don't think that 9-6-1 Eagles team was 38 points better than the 9-7 Cowboys team.

Do you?

So the Raiders 2nd and 3rd team talent is 25 points better than the Cowboys 2nd and 3rd team talent?

There comes a point where you have to stop making excuses for Wade and this team and realize that the teams problems aren't going to be fixed by cutting TO.

I think some people feel NFL teams are full of 35 year old men.

And not 20-25 year kids who need to be led into battle.

Ever notice that Tony and Wade almost never confer on the sideline? Instead, Tony goes straight to Garrett. Either Wade is the coach of the entire team or he isn't. Being defensive specialists didn't deter Landry or Jimmy from communicating with their respective QBs during the course of a game, yet Wade seems to delegate everything to the red-headed genius. Odd.

It's an out for him just like with Stewart and the defense last years if Garrett handles everything and the ship sinks it can't be his fault.

Jason Garrett = Offensive Coordinator.

Wade Phillips = Defensive Coordinator.

Jerry Jones = Head Coach.

He's a nice guy, with a good defensive football mind, but who does not command his team. That's simply not a good enough combination when your the head football coach of a very talented and public team.

Yep. You can say what you will, but Wade will always be a DC, not an HC. It's just the way it is. Clear to some, not so clear to others. Just my 2 cents.

Carry on....

Landry spent alot of time with Staubach becuase Landry was calling the plays.

And Aikman actually never spent much time with Jimmy on the sidelines conferring about anything. You'd see Jimmy offer congrats and etc etc when he'd come off the field, but I rarely recall any instance of Jimmy "coaching" Troy on the sidelines.

Tony can go straight to Garrett because Garrett coaches from the sidelines. Norv coached from the box and used the phones on the sidelines to talk with Troy.

The same thing happens with Brady, Manning, Palmer etc etc...go watch them, they rarrely spend time withthe HC during a game.

Good call, dead on the money... Romo doesn't need to talk to WP much. Why would he, WP doesn't do jack with the O.

There was a time around here when we propped Wade up by saying he was a defensive guru who knew how to put players in a position to suceed, as if that was some sort of novel idea. It's Wade's third year and I expect big things from this defense. I certainly expect better practice habbits from my team, especially when guys are fighting for their jobs.

But I do agree with you to a point Slate. It may be that some of these guys are just not good enought to play in the NFL. But at some point, I'd like to see Wade and his coaching staff develop an UFA or a mid/lower round draft pick for some quality depth, especially on the D. After all, some guys have been around a couple of years now and the roster has been churned.

Maybe in my mind, I expect a HC to be the game day team manager. When we don't run enough or become pass happy, we blame JG when to me, all it should take is the HC walking up to the OC and telling him how he wants the game managed. Hell, this should happen prior to the game when a game plan is devised. If we only ran the ball 9 times during a game, that tells me that we either had an inadequate game plan or we had one and the OC just didn't stick with it. Either way, Wade is the primary culprit because he's the HC with 30 years of NFL experience.

I'm not going off the deep end and I understand it's pre-season. But after the whoopping we took in Philly last year, lack of effort should not be tolerated and if someone needs to go to send a clear message, then that's fine with me. There's no magic switch that we can just turn on when the regular season rolls in.
