According to Jerry--NO WR at #22.

I know I'm late on this...but...

I don't believe a single word from any of these guys during the weeks leading up to the draft.

I'm certainly not saying that I know we won't go WR in round 1... but I don't think we will.

Heck, Jerry's wow comment could go towards Ginn as a KR/PR and the pick could be a WR.

However, I just don't think Jerry want's to go WR in round 1. I feel like his wow (or immediate impact) comment leans more towards a pass rusher or top 10 guy sliding... or even a trade up for a top 10 guy sliding.

A reach pick at 22.

They'll be lucky if he's even there at 22...In the First round.

Actually, using Jerry-like logic, you'd want to draft him in the first -- because then you can give him a longer contract that allows him to develop into a WR (he'll need the time).

Well I doubt he's going to be there at 22...But even if he does need time to develop at WR...His Return skills will suffice until then.

There's a difference between saying we absolutely will not take a WR at #22, and saying we are looking to do that in Round 2 or 3. It's all a fluid situation. If none of our guys are there at 22, and our BPA is a WR, then this statement doesn't mean we won't take that guy.

exactly, all Jerry is doing is speaking of the WR depth in this class, you still follow your board, or that's the general idea

How dare you come in here and talk sense!

The "I only want a WR for pick #22" crowd just won't buy it no matter how much hand writing Jerry put on the wall.

dude, you're not much different than that crowd, except for you're, "I don't want a WR in the 1st round"

and w/ you not liking the idea of a WR in the 1st round, I can see why you're reading too much into Jerry's comments, because it fits your...well, you know :D

You're just mad cos Jerry didn't say anything that fit your agenda. ;)

And by the by I wouldn't have a problem taking a WR at #22. :) I do think however that Spencer would offer more immediate impact.

Spencer is alright, I wouldn't mind that, and if we could get Sidney Rice in the 2nd, oh boy

if we don't go WR in the 1st, I liked Norm Hitzges idea

1. Spencer
2. Rice
3. Barbre or Alleman

or my favorite

1. Spencer
2. Allison
3. Barbre or Alleman, because I don't believe Alleman will be available in the 3rd

Exactely! Especially from Jerra...! :laugh2:

He changes his mind in the middle of a sentence! While reading his recap, he does things like this; (i can't find it now...it got moved to outter space)

"I've always had the thought...now I'm saying the we as a group...you see, we have scouts that do the national...I can talk to Switzer about running backs and such...."

Never a stright answer...at least that is what I got from the recap!

:laugh2: I still admire him...he's a slick dude!!

Yeah, like Skylar Green

Skyler Green was from LSU...! Didn't you read that the Boyz should never draft from that school?

Ginn will not be a Cowboy...they need to draft for other positions, although, I would like Ginn...but, he would need to eat some of the biscuits that Roy Williams eats...

;)

Heck I listened to it. He (Jerry) was talking about looking at receivers in the 2nd and 3rd round.

He certainly was talking about that, but at no point did he infer that he would be against taking one at 22.

In fact, I think he made it seem likely that they would if they felt that was best, and that there was a possibility of that.

Who would be stupid, vain, and arrogant enough to hold a pre-draft press conference? Snyder? Nope. Kraft? Nope. Lurie? Nope. Bidwell? Nope, not even him. Jerrah? Um ...

For the record I would consider Ginn Meachem or Jarrett at 22, but it sounds Jerry will be looking for WR later.

If that's the case I would guess one of the following:

Spencer
Branch (not likely he's available, but you never know)
Revis
Aaron Ross
Meriwhether
R. Nelson

What Jones DID make VERY CLEAR, and what Winickle fails to mention, is that Jerry was obvious about the fact that he'd like said "WOW" player to be on the offensive side of the ball.

Then he proceeded to rule out QB. And I think from common sense we can rule out TE.

So that means WR, RB, or OL.

Since I don't think that Hambone (aka Hamlin) will be with us after this year, I think Merriweather would be Jerrah's pick, although Spencer (who I've been pimping for a while) might seem like an guy who won't bust

It's easy-- listen to the interview.

People don't smoke-screen at pick #22... there's nothing to smoke-screen for. The blue-chippers are long gone by that point.

That's not true in the slightest on either count.

There very well could be blue chippers left. And, picking at 22, you never want to give away your intentions. Jerry habitually does though.

Well Schmidty if that's what you deciphered from all that-- then so be it.

He does do that doesn't he. :)
