Well Schmidty if that's what you deciphered from all that-- then so be it.

You failed to mention that Jones said practically verbatim that he'd like the WOW player to be on offense.

I frankly have no issue with Spencer but it's clear you have omitted key information from your report and that you have a favorite.

Give me a few minutes and I could probably pull the direct quote for you.

He also said they had no desire of paying a premium price to move up for a QB, though they might take one later on the first day, and I think we all know enough to rule out TE.

That leaves RB, WR, and OL.

So yeah, that's what I deciphered.

I know I'm late on this...but...

I don't believe a single word from any of these guys during the weeks leading up to the draft.

Point taken... I forgot about that... Honestly, I'm so excited about who we will pick that any news from the front I am compelled to believe...We may end up picking a wideout....but if the Eagles pick up Merriweather as a replacement for Dawkins I will scream... Dawkins was a headache enough, I don't want to face another clone of him

I'm certainly not saying that I know we won't go WR in round 1... but I don't think we will.

Heck, Jerry's wow comment could go towards Ginn as a KR/PR and the pick could be a WR.

However, I just don't think Jerry want's to go WR in round 1. I feel like his wow (or immediate impact) comment leans more towards a pass rusher or top 10 guy sliding... or even a trade up for a top 10 guy sliding.

Jerry did mention trading up into the 12-15 area if someone drops. I think that someone is Peterson. However I don't think he'll drop that far. Stranger things gave happened. I don't think there are many players that would drop out of the first 10-11 that Jerry would trade up for, but I haven't seen their draft board either.

I think Jerry either trades up for "his guy" or trades out of the 1st round altogether for an additional 1st rounder next year.

But he was referring to having to "trade-up" to get a "wow" player. It certainly did not sound like a "wow" player was going to be at #22. Also Jerry referred to a single WR being a "wow" player and we know it wasn't Ginn or Meachem or Jarret or Bowe... it was Calvin Johnson.

Who would be stupid, vain, and arrogant enough to hold a pre-draft press conference? Snyder? Nope. Kraft? Nope. Lurie? Nope. Bidwell? Nope, not even him. Jerrah? Um ...

Frankly, I like this WR class, but I don't care who we land as long as we can pull 2-3 impact players.

It just so happens that WR is one of the most likely positions that will have impact players there at 22.

Spencer is going to be a fine pass rusher too, though, and you can never have enough pass rushers.

Though if we're targeting him, I think I might prefer to see us act on the scenario that Jones mentioned where we trade out of the first round altogether for a first rounder next year (and presumably a second this year as well).

Then with 2 second round picks we land a Spencer/Rice combo.

I mean who cares ZK? What else are we going to discuss 6 days before the draft? God almighty we've beaten every subject to death-- it was about time for something new and interesting to come up. If I eat crow so be it. It's no big deal really who's right and who's wrong.

He said there were 4 wow players on offense.

I think we can assume that Peterson and Johnson are two of them.

Who are the other two? Joe Thomas is one maybe.

I don't think he's talking QBs, he ruled those out pretty much.

So I think it's possible -- perhaps even likely -- that the last one is a WR.

And even so, that doesn't say anything about our likelihood of what we draft if we sit at 22.

Hey, I'm right there with you. Give me Spencer/Rice/an olineman and a corner for our first 4 picks and I'm a happy camper.

If I'm not mistaken Jerry said there was one receiver he would trade up for.

I remember him specifically talking about Cal and hinting about a guy I assumed to be Peterson, but the other two I don't think he dropped any hints whatsoever as to what position they might be at.

Though I think we know he wouldn't consider "wow" players at TE or QB, so the other 2 offensive wow players must be at OL, WR, or RB. I don't think he really said one way or the other.

I think we have to consider the option that Dallas has someone like Ginn or Jarrett ranked in their top 10.

It's easy-- listen to the interview.

People don't smoke-screen at pick #22... there's nothing to smoke-screen for. The blue-chippers are long gone by that point.

Why couldn't it be a smokescreen? Saying people wouldn't attempt to put out a smokescreen at #22 doesn't make any sense, Willnickle.

Anyone think that it's possible that Jerry is interested in a WR, and is trying to muddy the waters for the teams below him? Hoping that they wouldn't consider trading above Dallas, thinking that we'll pass, and said WR would fall to them?

Only one thing to keep in mind this time of year. Don't believe anything you hear from front offices regarding the draft.
