Absolutely. However, there was no one there at 26. Think, man, if you're going to go 1st round QB,he had better be IT. If not, you're stupidly wasting resources.

I'd love to move on from Dak myself, but throwing darts at QBs is not the answer. Maybe Tune will be there for our 4th.
Throwing darts for a QB is better than sitting on your hands.

I'd rather chance the unknown then go into year 8 already knowing how it's going to end for us.

Just fire up your xbox and get it done! Jesus anyone who actually thought they would do this doesnt pay attention..."I hate Dak waste all the young talent you have on defense and screw the cap because well I hate Dak" Use your head man, Dak isnt going anywhere for 2 more years unless you want to see #11 and many others also moved..besides this years QB field was very "Pie in the sky" on all but maybe 3 anyone else has basically the same chance of being an NFL starter that someone they pick up today would have.

Levis was there at 1, Hooker at 2.
It would’ve been stupid to take a QB that high but good luck convincing some of you of that. If we’re going to keep up with Philly, we can’t be wasting a premium pick on a player that’s going to be standing around carrying a clipboard. We have a good QB. We may take one later in the draft.

Maybe we can take comfort in that Purdy was Mr Insignificant.
It is worth considering. Everything always boils down to whether a player has the talent and skill to succeed at the professional level. Maybe Purdy is just a flash-in-the-pan pick for the 49ers but both very good to great short-term and long-term quarterbacks have been picked in the later rounds. The odds are reduced in selecting one but it is not zero percent either.

There's literally FA QBs right now that can lead you to the same success Dak leads us to.

We have one playing back up for us right now that can embarrass us in the playoffs just like Dak.

Imagine if the Chiefs didn't trade up for Mahomes because they thought "Ya know, Alex Smith gets us to the playoffs and all we need to do is surround him with even more talent".
There is no Mahomes in this draft.

Sorry, getting a new QB is not going to fix this problem. We've changed around the entire team, entire coaching staff, moved on from Romo and the SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS. It's the front office. Philly was ultra aggressive in building around Hurts and got him to the Superbowl. Here, Hurts would be Quincy Carter 2.0 as a confused and passive FO fumbles and bumbles around trying to build a coherent team.

If we bring in a new QB today, what is he going to do with a huge hole in the O line and a huge question mark at running back?

This! the diference in the QB's left and the 2 you listed are not huge, if you couldn't get one of the top 3 your success odds were going to fall dramatically anyway.

Isn't one of the major reasons to take a QB for the rookie contract? again what good would it do in a QB soft draft to reach for one early KNOWING you have huge cap problems comming even if the gamble pays off? If your gonna throw darts in this scenario you do it in Day 3 not day 1 or 2.

I can only assume that you think either of them would coke in and win a Super Bowl.

If that is not your intent, please let all of us know how either one of these third tier QBs will take is to the promised land.

Or, is this just a Dak hate post?

lol so we need to waste resources when we've had top 5 offenses in back to back years, especially in a year where we traded away our best wr for peanuts?

What are you guys expecting some rookie qb is going to do? Turn into a mix of peyton manning and tom brady and throw 80 times a game?

We are in win now mode and investing a high pick into a qb that would essentially be a backup would be a waste of resources and cause locker room division. If Dak stinks it up this year, then that's when you consider getting his replacement.
They just hate on Dak. Same posters hated on Romo and, if they are old enough, they probably hated Troy

What they are suggesting is that we completely trash any hopes of a Super Bowl by starting what are the equivalent of NFL scrubs.

They are idiots. Don’t engage them.

Yeah,
the same way the current third tier QB is ascending toward future playoff success.

Definitely stick with his proven playoff ceiling rather than risk it to get better.

Going with the same QB over and over and expecting different results defines insanity.

But I guess Jerry's hypnotist potion is pretty effective on a select few.

I would've taken Hendon Hooker or Will Levis with the 1st pick. Cooper is a capable backup, but he's never gonna be a starter or push Dak for the job because he has too weak an arm.
