Having watched every single game he played at Boise State and having gone to lunch with Demarcus a couple of times, I can tell you that he was WELL worth the trade to grab him. He is an explosive player that completely disrupts the backfield. He needs to put on some weight and get stronger, but this kid is the real deal and I guarantee you at least 24 other teams are going to kick themselves in the *** for having passed on him.

He does not have character issues, he was suspended for staying out past his curfew (dinner with his parents) and for missing a team meeting. No criminal charges, no scandals, no violence, he is a quiet spoken and likable guy. With Crawford getting his shot this year, and Demarcus playing beside him, that side of D-Line will be solid.

He will have double digit sacks his rookie year. His "football" speed is unbelievable. Give him a year to bulk him and he will be a beast.

Hope that is true. And to The idea that the cowboys need bodies.....they have bodies. They need playmakers.

Oh well, like the pick or not, we're stuck with the guy now, welcome to Dallas.

I love this. But it'd be more comforting from a poster not named 'Reacher.'

I read about this guy earlier and like the numbers but I like Picks in the first 4 rounds. You could have had Jernigan and another pick to fill need in the 3rd. Don't like "all in" on a guy you feel you have to have. With that said I'm glad we went D

Watched a few games. Here's what I see:

- He has a nice looking body. Broaddus's prototypical comment makes sense to me.
- Doesn't have exceptional speed but isn't slow by any means.
- Needs more strength/mass. Probably will take 2 years to reach his potential but that's true of most players in the second round.
- Pretty good in space.
- Not the best at shedding a blocker when he needs to go laterally rather than forward.
- He's very good at sniffing out fakes and screens. Smart player.
- If the QB takes a 5-7 step drop and he isn't held, this guy will get his hands on the QB consistently. He has a good stable of swim and spin moves. Uses his hands well. Hard to block him consistently.

I like the pick but hate to give up a third. Oh well.

Exactly, which is why I'm OK with giving up the 3rd IF it means that Lawrence is going to be a stud.

Quality over quantity.

Although not a freak of nature like D-Ware in his prime; he already uses his hands better than D-Ware. We missed the D-Ware when Ware was able to play at his highest level of production, we won't miss last year's D-Ware and D-Law will be a good reason why. Anyone that watched any of Bose's games with better than 30/30 vision can see the kid can play. I predict he will be a fan favorite.

He's probably an 9-12 sack per year player. Solid but not a consensus perennial pro bowler. I'll take it.

Good post.

Would add that he is tenacious and appears to chase plays even going the other way

Huh? Take a look at my posts on the 1st rounder. Loved the pick. Had nothing but good things to say about him.

My sense is that you only want to see positive posts from people. Anything posted that isn't to your liking means a poster is negative. Got it. Thanks.

Will wonders never cease...

by mid season you guys will have forgotten about a 3rd rounder for starting RDE. just being emo . botton line is big picture we could have two studs here with our 1st two picks.

I think losing the 3rd round pick is overshadowing what we just drafted. I really like the pick and I didn't think for one second he's even be an option at 47 overall. He would've got picked prior to our pick and the FO would've been disappointed in letting another impact defensive player get drafted in front o us again.

3. DEMARCUS LAWRENCE, Boise State (6-3, 250, 4.72, 1-2) – Redshirted one year and played another in junior college, started 23 games in 2012-'13 at Boise and declared a year early. "Down defensive end there," one scout said. "Pass rusher. Kind of a rangy guy. Got length, some rush skill and pretty solid production. He's had a few off-the-field issues. You hoped he would run much better." Finished with 120 tackles (34 for loss), 20 sacks and 10 big plays. Garnered 12 sacks in his JUCO season. "I like him as an outside backer," said another scout. "Problem is he's been suspended three times." Wonderlic of 20. "He's a little guy who is quick but not strong," a third scout said. "I don't know what the heck you're going to do with him. He didn't play linebacker there. He strictly rushed the passer. He's not physical. He was extremely disappointing. In fact, the entire Boise State team this year was disappointing." From Aiken, S.C.
