Please. Agreeing with a draft expert and having your point of view backed up by stats is "mindless"?
Awesome.

Whatever...Smith's better...Deal with it!
GO BUCKS!

fan or not, he will be the number 1 guy...period. He played for a lousy team with no defense, a pretty crappy OL, and a big name. When his team gave him a chance, he played very well, made things happen. Against USC and LSU, the two games I saw, he and ND had no chance and really shouldn't have been on the same field.
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion about Brady Quinn, but if that opinion makes you think there's a QB in the draft who will go before Quinn, you're crazy...no way, no how, won't happen.
And....it won't even be close....I'll actually be surprised if there's another QB taken in the top 10.
Nothing. He was going to be the overall #1 and he still will be.odog422;1286507 said:I'm an admitted Troy Smith fan and have been involved in some of the debates here between who is the better prospect between Smith and Quinn. Obviously, I'm of the belief that Smith will do very well at the next level.
The crux of my belief has been the fact that the guy is a leader, he wins games, and in the biggest games, he plays his best.
Without question, the same cannot be said of Quinn. This year, in ND's three biggest games and against their most difficult opponents (USC, Michigan and LSU) he has failed to impress.
So my question is this: what will be the effect on his draft status? There was talk of top ten, top five if I'm not mistaken before the college football season started.
Add in if Smith has a big game Monday night - does Smith get drafted before Quinn? In other words, measurables (height, basically) over production? Especially after the success of two proven winners on the college level from last year's draft who dropped for various reasons (Leinert and Young) and their success this year?

Russell would go top 10, probably top 5 if he came out. He is bigger, faster and stronger than Quinn.

Yeah, but you're rooting for it to happen. That's why it's so easy for you to see it.JustSayNotoTO;1289502 said:If Leinart drops after not setting a foot wrong in his college career (He lost what 2 games? Heisman trophy.).I'd be wiling to bet Quinn goes down too.
ABQCOWBOY;1289512 said:LOL..........
This is funny. This is probably one of the strongest QB classes we've seen in awhile, assuming some of the Jrs. come out.
Quinn, Russell, Brohm and maybe Stanton are all possible 1st round picks. Smith, Beck and Palko might grade out as second round talent. That leaves Kolb, Edwards, Palmer, Leak and Tate as late round options and that doesn't even consider small school talent like a Stanbeck, Brenner or Thigpen.
There is a lot of talent at the position, this year, IMO.
