Instead, it solidifies to me that Dallas took the best player available
at 31. No one higher rated was available to the Cowboys at that time on their board than Frederick. Now, they passed on their fifth-highest-rated player (Floyd) at 18 and had four other players they could have taken at that point who were rated higher than 18 and a first-round pick.
I like the fact, though, that they ended up with three players rated higher than 31 on their board (Frederick, Williams and Escobar). That should show us if their ratings mean anything. And technically, trading the 18th pick got Dallas the 22nd- and 23rd-rated players on their board, so that's good value with the picks.
