Can the last remaining Dez fans at least accept who he really is?

Not sure it matters what we think of Dez. The league has spoken. Right or wrong, he is no longer viewed as a difference maker. While the timing of his being cut was harmful to a marginal starter or backup, it wouldn't have harmed a true difference maker.

If a Julio Jones, an Aaron Donald, a Tyron Smith, etc. was cut loose tomorrow, there would be a bidding war. The league might be wrong, but the league thinks Dez is basically toast. That much we don't have to guess.

I do not think Dez is a bad human being. I do think he has cognitive issues and a deep problem with emotional control.

He had to hurt himself with the Sean Lee comments. Does anyone remember which Cowboy stepped up for Josh Brent by attending his trial? That was leadership. That was character. That gets a player elected captain.

And Lee is known for his film study while Dez... isnt. Dez didn't need to put that compare and contrast in front of the rest of the league. Strategically a major blunder.

I hope Dez finds a job, and I think he will. But excuses for his play and behavior ring hollow. There is nothing wrong with any of us being expected to act like adults.

No it’s an observation and an opinion.
This is a message board and that’s what we do.

How about addressing the question presented. Crazy idea I know.
Dear onyx the OP issued a post on the characteristics of Dez you in your fashion steered into the "its all Garrett's fault" ditch.

The Dallas Cowboys are not a joke. Their viewed as a up and comer.

You missed the part about why does JG get to keep his job.
You seem confused about how discussions really work. This isn’t a court case where we can only answer the OPs question without actually presenting our side or questions.
And we are viewed as a wildcard contender if everything goes well. After 8 years, several HOF players, the best RB and OL in the game. The offensive player of year, offensive rookie of the year, and more we should have something to show for it other than being an up and comer.

If I could have Dez or Linehan\JG......I’d take Dez.

He was the scapegoat they used to cover for their 1992 playcalling.
I don’t care that he expressed his pain on Twitter.

If you can’t see that Dez is right about our stale playcalling and lack of innovation on offense you are blinded by your agend.

Real coaches like Peterson, McVey, Peyton wouldn’t have needed to scapegoat our most talented WR to cover for their failings to scheme players open.

Satisfied?

I don't disagree with Dez about the play calling and coaching but flaming your former team and teammates like he is shows a total lack of class. Dez clearly seemed to be a problem for Dak and we were better without him. Dez cannot get open or create separation any more. What was he in, ninth year? And just now working on his route running? I loved Dez in his heyday but he was never a great professional or dedicated to his craft. Dez won with sheer talent and when that started waning, he offered nothing but a big mouth and excessive contract.

Will be interesting to me to see if the NYG learn anything from our mistakes in regard to OBJ.
They give him a big contract and they will rue the day. He may be a better talent than Dez but a worse person.

Still won’t answer I see.

Of course this means you have no answer that won’t make you look the fool.

I would seriously like to know if the die hard Dez fans can accept that Dez isn't emotionally stable and is probably a bit of a problem for a team to deal with?

Having seen his recent twitter meltdown is it that far fetched to see that he was problematic for the Cowboys?

This isn't about his skill set or whether he was top 5 or anything else. That's a whole different debate that we aren't going to address in this thread. All of that can be debated at another time.

I would just like to know if you guys can objectively see what the Cowboys were having to deal with regarding Dez. The Amazon Prime series is also consistent with this twitter meltdown.

Is there anyone on this board that still thinks Dez isn't seriously problematic from an emotional stability point of view?
Yeah I thought on the all or nothing show that he seemed rude to the WR coach. But the coach didn’t exactly correct him either.

Dez has always been like this and the team mates would cover for him saying he is just passionate. I am not sure some of the things he would say was meant as positive.

Why does JG and Linehan deserve to still have their jobs?
I’m sure you have some valuable insights. I’m sure you are much more than Verdicts boot licking ball rider.
Linehan is still there to be the scapegoat this year. JG is there because JJ wants him there. Neither should be there.

I hate to disagree but they are a joke specifically for the reason you stated “their viewed as an up and comer” as they have been for a good part of the past two decades and they have NOTHING to show for it but a couple playoff appearances.

Almost every friggin year the media hypes us up because people love or hate us, not necessarily because we’re good. A good portion of the fan base hypes us up because they drink the Jerry Aid and believe him when he talks about the Super Bowl every year. Until we actually DO something we will continue to be laughed at and mocked.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to get excited or have high standards but we need to keep it real.

Can the OP please seek professional help for his unhealthy obsession? Many of us are genuinely concerned for his mental and emotional well-being.

That's just a lot of angry tears,, using this forum to vent your Cowboy loyalty frustrations.
Instead of crying,, post how you would envision some positive change.

I’m sorry, have you been watching the Cowboys flounder around in this league for the past 20+ years? If you’re not angry then you should be. Perhaps I should be like you and set myself up for disappointing year after year after decade after decade.
