I always laugh when I see this stuff. Top 10 paid based on what? Can we talk guaranteed money? Because they are have to be counting MO in that number (Jones, MO, Scan, Carr). Carr is the only guy on that list with a serious investment and Jones is a cost controlled rookie.

Sensationalist headline is sensationalist.

MO cost 2 draft picks. Sunk cost but part of the equation

Very true. Scandrick strikes me as a guy who's lousy with his money. He keeps taking lower overall contracts to get up-front money in his pocket and then runs back to the pay window when he's quickly burned through it.

I'd be sure to tell him that window is now closed. For the next 5 years.

I've heard just the opposite about Scandrick and his money. I'd have to dig around, but from what I recall, he's pretty sound with his money.

I just think he's asking for a raise like most people do.

Why does this make him bad with his money? All players want upfront and guaranteed money -which is why clubs want to give back loaded phantom deals. Just because he wants to rework his deal, isn't a spendthrift issue. The Cowboys want to rework Carr for the opposite reason

Revis has had I think 4 contracts un 4 years. He changed teams, but got paid

The house he bought in 2012 in LA was a good investment. Up 40%

I don't understand this extension. I wouldn't have even entertained the thought.

If we were better at safety, I would have thought scandrick could be a player you could get great trade value for. I would be fine with jones, carr,Claiborne and patmon as cb, but church, Wilcox and heath is ...woof. some hope for Wilcox, but that position is scary.

Jones ability at safety is positive. But clai, carr, and patmon is ugly and thin.

the MO pick (s) hurt

I understand 5yr 15 mil. But he didn't take a pay cut? More was front loaded into a signing bonus decreasing base salary for remaining years.

It is rare any players take pay cuts while staying in the same spot. They just shift money around, pushing off, pulling forward, getting converted into signing bonuses.

This was an additional $9.5 up front to reward Scandrick for being noticeably decent on a very poor defense.

I've heard tell of him wanting to but a $3 million home in California. He was on some reality show and didn't come off real well as it was told.

How does Revis' situation and series of 1-year deals have anything to do with Scandrick wanting to renegotiate a deal with 4 years left?

To all yall that said my boy was silly & selfish for going to the company that employs him and having a conversation about his worth, I say I am so glad the front office doesn't think like you. Oscandalous is happy and that bodes well for one side of our secondary. Love seeing this. Great move Cowboys!

...and I love "Oscandalous". Brilliant!

Maybe because some employees think they are paid below market.

I assume you think it is fine for clubs to ask for a pay cut or release a player before a contract is up. Same difference, other side of the coin.

That would be a false assumption.

If Scandrick had one year or even two left on his deal, I would be solidly in his corner.

But coming back to the pay window two years after you just re-upped, with 4 years left on the deal, is pushing it. And he should be very happy that the team even considered it, much less re-did the deal.

I never want to hear him talking about restructuring again.

The market continued to move - revis, sherman, maxwell, culliver, skrine, etc.

I get why he asked. Club can always say no or trade him if the contract us below market

The market always 'moves'. And shame on him and his agent if they somehow didn't realize that.

And, again, you're bringing up players who actually reached free agency. Scandrick was too busy rushing to the Cowboys for more money to ever have the patience to reach it himself.

He wants to have his cake and eat it too. He wants money now and later. I don't want to hear from him or his agent about his contract for 5 years. If they do, I hope Stephen Jones fines and/or suspends him. The Cowboys have repeatedly been more than reasonable in dealing with him.

I don't know about that. All I know is, he's the best DB we have. By a mile.

That is a depressing thing to contemplate. he is really just/almost average. A backup, certainly, but not starter material, at least on most teams.
