And Garrett gets an extension and is still this team's wannabe 'head coach'.

That 8-8 was a huge wasted opportunity, but ultimately the blessing we ultimately needed.

Without a doubt, the best season in 15 years. And to think the ENTIRE team didn't show up for the Philly game. One might think the entire team did it to spite Garrett.

I'd get tired of following a 'leader' that didn't have any answers and always put me at a competitive disadvantage too, wouldn't you?

Football: the Ultimate Team Game

This isn't a game of playing Barbie vs Ken to the final death in a basement somewhere
:muttley:.
I respectively disagree with you about football being the ultimate team sport. I think the ultimate team sport is soccer because there are no time outs so it is up to the players to change the momentum or strategy, you only get three subs a game so if already use your 3 and one of your teammates get injured or kicked out of the game, can't replace them, everybody is the QB of the team in the decision to where the ball will be going to score, so wins/losses is the entire team not just one person.

I'm certainly not one to defend Dak, but Romo had his share of 8-8 and 9-7 seasons. And I thought he was a damn good quarterback. It could have a lot to do with coaching/system in place. Supporting cast means a lot too. What is a QB supposed to do when much of the team is playing with low intensity? That's more of a coaching issue and we've seen it for the better part of the decade. But now that we do have both the supporting cast and a good coach, I certainly expect better than 8-8 or 9-7.
That was a good and sensible post. Those are getting hard to find on here. Well done.

Your right stats do not win SB. Romo has a ton of them and his playoff success is around the same as Dak. Cowboys have the pieces to win and it falls to the staff to take all the parts and put them together to play as a team, especially in critical moments of the games. I don't remove any blame on Dak nor do I remove blame on any other player who failed to execute or made mistakes that cost the team.
Another good post, where are all these sensible people coming from?

For those who criticize Dak for being "marquee" at 8-8, why would you want anything better? 8-8 is already better than what many teams can ask for. Go root for the Browns.

Where did Dak say 8-8 establishes him as "marquee"?

Just pulling things out of you backside again? Seems you have a lot of storage space back there.

Seeing the only logical response to the OP being the first response gives me hope for this forum

I just cant believe he lasted 10 years as HC. Cant believe he was even hired as HC after his OC stint.

Garrett is a total and compete fraud. One of the best frauds I have EVER seen.

He was able to fool the one man he needed to for over a decade. And came dangerously close to continuing to do so. It's terrifying to read just how close it came to Jerry Jones finding a way to keep Garrett around.

Between 25-33 starters in football, with never playing either offense or defense.
Not even close, imo.
Each position is far more diluted than in soccer.
even the QB (only one of 11 on offense) plays less than half the snaps.

We wasted 15 years with Garrett and this team. From Ware, to Romo and Witten, to Dak. Its unbelievable.

Let's look at this a minute:
Does 8-8 make a team or their quarterback special?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against an Eagles team that was playing 2nd and 3rd Stringers? This was the game that defined Dak Prescott as to whether or not he could carry the team when they needed him.
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Bills?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Saints?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Bears?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Jets?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Patriots?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Vikings?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against any team in contention for a playoff spot?
Stats don't win Super Bowls. Players who show up when their team needs them win Super Bowls.
Dak isn't a leader. Leaders show up when the game- or the season, for that matter- is on the line.
When the Cowboys couldn't beat the Jets or the Eagles to get into the playoffs, it spoke volumes. When Dak couldn't lead the team when they needed him the most and get past even the weaker teams, it spoke volumes.
Actions speak louder than words. Dak threw the ball into the ground on 4th down.
He doesn't show up when the Cowboys need him to lead.
He simply is along for the ride when they beat up the weak teams.

Prescott is the best QB who ever played the game period!!
Every year that 8-8 becomes the standard of excellence he represents!

I would venture to say that it is the single biggest waste of time and resources in team history. Other failed coaches had legitimate excuses, and many had the plug pulled on their tenures quite quickly. Garrett on the other hand, had more talent, cap room, and opportunity than any of them, and nobody did less with more.

Except he has only been 8-8 once, so that has not been his standard.

Of course, facts have not been yours.
Ok ok you got me....that 9-7 and 10-6 we're amazing baby!!!

his contract demands say so..
No, they don't, because last year was not the only year he has played in the NFL, and the team record in one season isn't the lone factor being looked at.

If you are going to pin everything on the team record in one season, where would that have left Aaron Rodgers after a 6-9 record in 2018?
