Yeah, whatever happened to names like the Doomsday, and Steel Curtain, and Fearsome Foursome? I think part of this is the times. In those days they were describing the unit - the collective of the defense. Today things like Hot Boyz is supposed to focus on the individuals in the unit rather than the collective of the unit.

To be fair, if we’re talking about nicknames focusing on individuals, Fearsome Foursome and Purple People Eaters are the 70’s equivalent of Hot Boyz when it comes to the language structure of the name. All three reference individuals whereas Steel Curtain, Doomsday or Orange Crush celebrate the unit.

Certainly the most “unit-centric” nickname of all has to be the No Name Defense of the Dolphins

If QB wins ARE a stat, great for Dak! Dak is 42-27 and even if you cherry-picked the years you chose (LOL at lowly hater logic), 29-24 with complete mediocrity around him is pretty good. How did Deshaun Watson do last year with trash around him? Oh right, 4-12. How did the great Troy Aikman do when the team around him wasn’t loaded???

If QB wins ARE NOT a stat, great for Dak! That means you can’t judge Dak based on the team’s overall performance, and his individual stats are undoubtedly top 8.
