Do you care if we resign Dak?

Worse than predictably collapsing? At least if don't have the "almost MVP" on our team, expectations won't be that high. But Dak raises the expectations with his talk, false bravado and NFC East dominance...but against better teams and in the playoffs...the fall is long and hard. At least if we are rebuilding they are going low on a team that has no expectations...that's just hate. But when we PREDICTABLY COLLAPSE WITH A DAK-IN-THE-HEADLIGHTS PERFORMANCE...to me...THERE IS NOTHING WORSE. Jimmy seemed to feel the same way at halftime. The EMBARRASSMENT STILL LINGERS TO THIS DAY.
Don’t know about you, but I find a season a lot more enjoyable and interesting when the expectations for the team are high. We’re entering a season with low expectations and look how miserable the fan base is. I would rather have a QB that gives us some hope. If you’re looking to argue about Dak find someone else.

The Church of Dak.will never draw attention to that. Doing that would make people realize that the 12-5 record for 3 years is more a reflection of the team around him than him.
In the moments when they need him to step up, he wilts and struggles.

Your statement about the team around him is spot on

But still, when he wilts (as you correctly stated) the roster around him gets blamed and Dak gets a pass. Every time.

Church of Dak reference is more accurate than we realize. It's a cult at this point

It was Dalton, not Rush. The team went 4-7 without Dak and 1-3 with him that season.

The rest of your post is yet another master class in obfuscation, trying to lead away from the very point you initially tried to make.

6-10.

However, as starter Dak was 2-3 that year before he got hurt. Which over 16 games averages out to about 6-10.

So the numbers show that losing Dak had literally zero effect on our winning percentage that season.

You were saying...... :muttley:
This on pace stuff lol…..last year we started the season 3-2……which means we were on pace for a 9 win season last year…..except we didn’t win 9 games lol. Dak has never lost more games than he’s won but I guess 2020 was gonna be the year lol.

I remember 2000-2006, so yes I care. Frustration and disappointment is better than apathy and indifference, because at least the former means you are relevant, competitive and have a chance to achieve your goals.

A cold separation from Dak with no plan means that Cowboy games quickly become something we watch the quick YouTube recaps of after other activities with family on Sundays on our way to 5-12.

I get a sense that man Cowboys fans are either ambivalent or against resigning Dak to an extension.
I think many, myself included, would like to keep Dak but the price point, $55-$60 million a year just seems crazy to reward someone who hasn't produced much tangible success with that type of deal.
We are a better team with him but nothing has shown us that he is worth that investment.
At this point, we can just let it ride out and deal with the future after the season.
Not if we have a legit plan in place. Which we don't. Just like the plan to replace Pollard.

I will believe this franchise is serious about winning if they tell Dak to go pound sand and actually commit to building a winner by drafting a QB.

I could live with it either way because I don't have any choice anyway, but I'm against the idea of resigning for another monster contract. The last one was too big, and the next one will be worse. Dak's ceiling isn't high enough to qualify for that much money. But they're gonna do what they're gonna do.

If the Cowboys' front office has lost confidence in Dak -- which is quite apparent, why should they re-sign him? The main reason why they might do so again is because they've gotten themselves into a bad situation with him, by granting him overly generous contracts in the past. Jerry and Stephen are anything but good judges of player talent. If it weren't for Will McClay, their drafts wouldn't be nearly as successful. I'm sorry to say, I won't be shedding any tears, regardless of what happens with Dak. He does well in the regular season, but that's as far as it goes.

The sentiments on this site about Dak are all over the place. Like him or not, he does give us the best chance to win THIS SEASON as long as Lamb returns and the OL is as good as expected.

It is rather obvious that Jerry and Stephen have a plan on how they want to sign our main 3 in Dak, Ceedee and Micah. Based on the explanation from a number of sites, it makes good sense both in business and football. And for those that believe that Jerry is willing to tank the season and/or let Dak go for nothing but a 3rd round comp pick next year then they haven't studied any of the history of Dallas with Jones.

Only question is, how long will those contracts be signed for in length. Could easily see Dak on a 3 year deal and Lamb on a 4 year deal so to leave options on a new QB going into 2027. Long term is where you look for a QB coming out of college. Sure Trey Lance could be the answer but frankly with 49ers getting so little for him after 2 years doesn't bode well. You have to think that McCarthy thought he could make a decent QB out of him since McCarthy is supposed to be the QB guru. Looking to the 2025 draft of QBs doesn't make me wow with greatness, even Deion's son. Sure we don't know yet but none of them seem to be on the edge of greatness. Will Manning be available in the 2026 draft or 2027 draft. Who knows but all we have to go on from him is his high school years and the fact his last name is Manning.

Every year we discuss what the Cowboys should do with Dak, with free agency, with extending or letting go of other players, and yet we are rarely right in what our front office does. We have been 12-5 for 3 years in a row but with early exits in the playoffs. We have been harping about stopping the run for at least six years if not longer and yet when we get to the playoffs, we can't stop the backups at RB for any team. Dak and offense have to score more.

You need a good QB both for the season and the playoffs but really if you look at all of our Super Bowl wins and runs into the playoffs, it was the defense that made the difference. Offense wins the regular season, but defense still wins the championships.

Dak and the offense have on many occasion simply not shown up or simply aided in crippling the defense by turning the ball over. This has happened in the last 3 playoff exits. If you want to look beyond that - you don't really see any real offensive power in any of the losses. Just average to below average execution with turnovers. At some point the offense which eats the largest pie of the cap space has to at least step up and make a half way effort instead of just rolling over.
