Do you care if we resign Dak?

I get a sense that man Cowboys fans are either ambivalent or against resigning Dak to an extension.
I think many, myself included, would like to keep Dak but the price point, $55-$60 million a year just seems crazy to reward someone who hasn't produced much tangible success with that type of deal.
We are a better team with him but nothing has shown us that he is worth that investment.
At this point, we can just let it ride out and deal with the future after the season.
Exactly--- you can not reward any player RECORD BREAKING contract when he can't even get to a conference finals. Sorry, but stats are for players, WINS are for FANS.

Those that don’t care if we re-sign Dak either honestly believe he’s no good or could care less if the Cowboys go in the dumpster for a number of years. I’m hearing a lot of fans on this board saying they’re willing to take the risk of moving on from him and seeing what happens. I’m not willing to end up like Washington has since they elected to move on from Kirk Cousins. He’s far from perfect, but he’s pretty good and kept them competitive. There’s a reason he’s still around making big money. It’s because it’s very difficult to find a solid QB. You have teams using high first round picks that are over drafting QBs that shouldn’t have ever been a first round pick because the need is so great. That’s the risk the Cowboys take by not re-signing Dak. If you’re just looking to Dak bash and have nothing intelligent to say, then don’t bother responding to this post.
Good points..............the bottom line is the Cowboys have not done anything at all to prepare for Dak's departure other than trade a day 3 pick and a bag of Doritos for some dude Shanny thinks sucks.

You get ready to move on from your franchise QB by doing what the Packers do, they draft a guy in the 1st round while they still have their guy. They drafted Rogers in the 1st round when Favre was still playing and they drafted Love in the 1st round when Rogers was still playing. That is called preparation, the exact opposite of what the Cowboys have done.

So no, until somebody can give me the name of a viable alternative, I am not in favor of just letting Dak walk.

And for those saying Dak is trash.....................well if trash can put up 36 TDs and only 9 INTs and be runner up for league MVP then it should be easy peasy to find a replacement that can do that day 1, right???

We shall see if the Cowboys think it is so easy as well, maybe they do, I guess we shall see soon enough.

After 8 years, the experiment should be over,he has become the "coach"Jason Garrett of QBs..even when he had a stacked deck,he found away to choke.id rather go 0-17 and draft a blue chip qb than go 12-5 and watch boy blunder destroy any hope of doing anything more than another 1 and done.
A lot of fans feel this way, they would rather go winless than keep Dak.

Their opinion is irrelevant to this discussion.

The only question that is pertinent to these discussions is the following.........."Would Jerry rather go winless than sign Dak?"

I was a Dak fan.. until.. the GB game.. now Im not so sure.

Just give us the QB with the best chance of winning something meaningful.

However that said.. I love the NFL season.. I watch all sorts of games no matter who is playing.. but I would rather a good Cowboys season than not.. its a lot more fun when we are winning.

If Jerry/Stephen didn't get royally screwed on the last contract they wouldn't be in this position.. but here we are.............

I would prioritize signing CeeDee and Parsons over Dak. The team has already shown that it can win without Dak back there because he doesn't bring any specific talent that cannot be replicated

The Cowboys have nobody who has displayed a likelihood of winning in the post season.

Dak holds the huge advantage of winning in the regular season. That's to his advantage.

Nevertheless, if Lance is highly impressive in TC and the preseason, he'll be considered.

I don’t care but it will be annoying hearing about his contract status over the season.

Huge advantage of winning in the regular season? Dude wend down and had Cooper Rush start and win games. So no, he doesn't have the advantage folks thinks he does in the regular season.

The right to trade a player’s contract to another team and the rule that allows a team to tag a player, twice, allows a team to retain a player even if they cannot come to terms on a subsequent contract are an advantage to the team. The Cowboys do not have that advantage with Dak Prescott. The point isn’t what advantage Dak has or does not have. Jerry Jones willingly gave up his advantage with Dak. Some other team will sign him for next season. He may not get all the money he’d like, but he’ll get out of the hootenanny that is the Dallas Cowboys.

Again, immaterial considering that a team just forked over a contract for Kurt Cousins. Yes some team will give Dak Prescott a contract. Means nothing other than a team needs a QB.

Doesn't matter what we want.

I still believe that Jerry already knows who the new HC will be in 2025 and that Dak isn't a part of the plan.

The dismantling after the 2024 season shouldn't shock anyone when it happens.

The young guys on the O-Line, Ceedee and Parsons will be here. Maybe Diggs, Bland, Overshown etc. But I think a lot of the senior dudes like Dak, Zack etc, are gone

I’m against resigning him at this point.

Time to move on. He’s a good QB but not good enough. I see that now.

We need a top 3 elite QB or a QB on their rookie deal to have a chance to win a title.

I guess I’m ambivalent; Dak is not a difference maker; so I don’t think the Cowboys’ season lives and dies on him remaining at QB; in my opinion, there are other weaknesses within the team that play a larger role in the team’s success: i.e. run defense; LB play and offensive line play/depth.
While Cooper Rush is certainly not Dak, he did manage the game well during his interim stint at QB and posted a decent record; the question would be how effective would Rush be for a full season.

We know they aren’t winning a Super Bowl with him at QB. Time to move on
