Months from now, when the immediacy and emotion surrounding this situation subsides......

A man just lost his company because of what he said in his own kitchen to his girlfriend.

Regardless of the worthless puke this guy is, that is a very dangerous precedent. What's next?

The Soviet Union used to operate this way.

That's just ignorance. You fit the punishment to the crime, that's what's next. Nothing more, nothing less.

Not exactly.

This is not just rumor or one isolated slip of the tongue, but a confirmation of years of actions.

Yes, but how'd you like us to research everything you've done wrong since you were 18 and decide if you still get to keep your house?

Yup, or he was staying tight-lipped because of the private discussions going on between owners before this decision was reached.

Either way, I think Cuban is conflicted here. He hates what Sterling represents, but he understands the slippery slope of punishing a man for his private thoughts in his own home.

They weren't private thoughts. They were made to a woman and an undisclosed third party who was also present.

And that's besides the fact that in this case, that entire argument is a red herring.

It goes to show that nine of the most knowledgeable “lawyers” in the country disagree on legal interpretation all the time.

So using that as a guide, it shows that your prior rant was pretty stupid

Tell me more.

One of his handlers must've spoken to him because this is not what he was saying yesterday. Quite the opposite.

Cuban has handlers?! They are TERRIBLE at their jobs!

I think a lot of people are also overlooking the horribly discriminatory practices he has exhibited as essentially a Los Angeles slum lord as well.
Well, the league overlooked all that stuff for a couple decades, so why shouldn't we overlook it now?

This guy did some horrible, horrible things and the league (and his players and Doc Rivers) didn't care one bit. Heck, the NAACP was planning to honor the guy. Out of all the reprehensible things he did, I think his off-color remark is pretty tame.

Private thoughts are those kept to one's self. Sterling made these comments to his girlfriend. Sterling asked her to tape conversations because he had trouble remembering what he said.

I don't think you know what private means.

You don't seem capable of having an actual discussion, so I will wait for more comedy gold as you attach more images to express your thoughts.

Only lame thing here is people defending Sterling.

I expect those who defend are in the "there but for the grace of God go I" camp.

+1 +1 +1. And, it should be noted, she was breaking the law by taping him without his knowledge.

Like I said before, if everything any of us ever said was recorded and broadcast publicly, I doubt anyone would stand up to such scrutiny.

once upon a time, a person in support of interracial marriage or homosexuality were also ostracized.

silencing people that hold views that run counter to societies views is not necessarily good for society in the long run.

Spare me. Attempting to paint this situation with a broad brush of comparison with Soviet Russia is so far from what we have here.

Isaiah Thomas: "If Larry Bird was black, he'd be just another good basketball player."

Charles Barkley: "This is a black league."

Larry Johnson: "We should just have an all-black league."

Richard Sherman says banning the N-word from the NFL is racist.

Slippery, slippery slope.

Oh, were we having a discussion? Is that what a conversation is to you? It seemed like you'd already reached your conclusion.

We (myself included) all make mistakes and do bad stuff, but some of us learn from them...Sterling didn't.

It's a perfect argument, and you forgot "in his house" and "taped illegally".

I hate defending the idiot at all, but this is a very fuzzy line we're drawing in the sand.

So let's take stock of the NBA:
Systematically discriminating against blacks and Hispanics in housing is ok.

Making an offensive comment in the privacy of your own home is not.

As I understand it, in California, unless both parties agree to making this conversation public, it is, in fact, private.

Your argument seems to be that we used to ostracize people who held view that supported not discriminating against people so we should allow Sterling to be a racist. Nice logic.

The league is doing what is best for Sterling and the Clipper franchise. His association will destroy that team and bring down the league as a whole. He has to go.

Parties need to consent to be taped. That is the law. The taping was done at Sterling's suggestion.
