But you can't use this "see, no one signed Roy, so I'm right" BS. That argument simply doesn't hold water, because you can't possibly say that 2009 Williams is the same as 2004-06.

But there were people on this board who were touting him as recently as last fall. He was a shell of his former self, if that. But anyone who dared question Roy's ability got clobbered by a few posters.

The myth thread shall live in infamy. What a joke.

Lets be clear here: many of the things said about Roy Williams were untrue at the time. The reason he can't get a job now is because he's a 29 year old safety coming off 2 injury plagued years. You're almost better off playing a 2nd-year player, as you'd get similar production.

LOL.

It was one injury and it was his arm, not his knee, back or shoulder which would scare teams away.

The things that were said about him were untrue?

Well then I guess the scouts of the other 31 NFL teams don't actually watch film anymore and they just read old articles on the internet.

Just stop already. The guys game completely fell off.

You gotta admit though that an AFC North team is the perfect place for him to go.

He should do well in those type of environments unlike in the great state of Texas where its a track meet every week.

I think if the Bengals look to play him up close almost like an extra LB that Roy can have success with Cinn. He does well in the underneath coverage but struggles in deep coverage, he is not the only SS to have that problem but Roy can lay the wood. I wish the guy the best and have nothing against him at all.

I know his game fell off. I even started a 9-page thread about it a year and a half ago: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107410

But my point is that he was largely unrecruited this year because he's old and washed up, not because he was never good.

Good luck to him and the Bengals...I suspect they will both need quite a bit.
