Hamlin is a strong safety who while better in coverage than Roy Williams, still isn't quite up to snuff as you would like.

In all honesty, if I drafted Phillips next year and I had the option of keeping Hamlin or Williams. I would start Hamlin at strong safety and Phillips at free safety. Hamlin is just a better overall safety. Williams is just stronger at stopping the run.

Hamlin would be the one to go

McFadden would start for us too you know?

The Cowboys average 127.9 yards per game without him. They aren't hurting for a running back like say Green Bay is. The Cowboys have bigger fish to fry than a RB. WR, CB, and FS. Why trade up for one guy that will cost multiple #1 picks when you can take those #1 picks and fill needs with them?

I don't know why you're pimping FS, we're not going to start a player who can't call the coverage for the secondary, Hamlin's staying, and they like Watkins, no FS, I'll put anything on it

True but I still think that RB is in the cards for Dallas because I don't think Jones will be resigned to a big FA contract and I don't think Jones will stay because I think he will want a bigger role than he has right now. Depending on who all enters the draft this could be a fairly deep draft at the RB position. Right now though I'm just enjoying this season and will worry about the draft when that time rolls around.

I think Jones will come relatively cheap, I don't think the market for him will be too high

but we can do better than him

He started that after picking against us like 3 weeks in a row and we were sitting there undefeated. He is defensive about it because he is an idiot and now everyone knows. Rather hard to come off as the "expert" when you can't even get the local team's games correct.

For the season he has the lowest percentage of all the DMN reporters at .560.

The next closest losers are at 62%.

That would be as big as the Joey Galloway mistake. We dont need a great running back, if we resign Barber. Just a good one. Felix Jones, Or Ray Rice would be my choices. We could probably get them in the second round.

McFadden is a complex issue.

What does an elite RB do for this offense? Do we have a good enough running offense he doesn't make much difference?

Right now I don't see us scoring a lot more with another RB. But I do think we need a better running attack.

This team has two weaknesses that are keeping it from being dominant. Our secondary is not good enough in the first and most important one. Not far behind is the lack of a running attack that can take the ball and run it down anyone's throat when it needs to.

I'm not so sure the latter is as much a weakness as it would have been in the past. You can play ball control with the passing attack.

But you can certainly do it successfully more often with an elite running attack. And it makes your team more complete.

I'm not sure McFadden is worth two number ones. You have to think he will make your team so much better it will win a SB three out of four seasons. He has to make your team be able to run out the clock or control the ball whenever you need that. He has to change the defenses of the other team. He has to bust enough big runs it changes the character and outcome of the game.

Does McFadden do all that for the cost of two number ones or more? Don't know but JJ will be thinking about it often IMO. He'll also have to overcome the inertia of Joey Galloway to be able to pull the string.

I'd say we would be a better team overall with a better safety and another CB. Even another pass rusher enters into the equation. The other side of the coin is think of Romo, TO and McFadden being together with a dominating OL.

Not sure what I'd do but its an interesting question.

In all reality we didnt give up much for the other #1. We still had a #1 last year (spencer). We would just be trading a bonus #1 to move up.

You guys are nuts if you dont think that McFadden is worth two first round picks. At first I was thinking of trading our two picks of 08 but I think it will be better for the boys if they traded their Cleveland 08 pick and their 09 first round picks. The logic is we still get a low first round pick this season on good player and hopefully a good player in the second round.

Actually, if we did that (2008 first-rounder, 2008 third-rounder and 2009 first-rounder), we could possibly trade out of the first round with our other pick and recoup 2009's first-rounder.

So, we'd end up with a 1st-rounder, 2nd-rounder, 2nd-rounder in 2008. Then, a first, second and third in 2009.

If we could do that and be able to get McFadden, that's pretty sweet.

Do you take Walker or do you take someone like Miami FS Kenny Phillips (probably gone in the top 10) or Ohio State CB Malcolm Jenkins (I say top 10, though some others think top 15) We have a running back and options to draft others, resign Jones, or go for a free agent. Getting a very good CB or safety from the draft would be MUCH more helpfull in the long run and I think that value far outweights what McFadden brings vs what we have.

McFadden is vastly superior to any running back we currently have... he most assuredly has the ability to be a "franchise back" for some team...

Imagine how scary good this offense would be with a legit 1500 yard rushing threat in the backfield... imagine how that would open the passing game up even more...
