Is Dak Prescott the next Tebow?

NOt true..Dak didn't throw less than any other starter. His passing yards last year were fairly high.
Did I stutter or did your ears flap open? He was dead last in pass attempts for starters who played 16 games. And he was 19th in passing yards, hardly what I would call “fairly high”.
Now would you like to compare his stats to when he is playing on an All-star team versus when he is not?

For as much heat as the Coaching Staff rightfully receives, MAYBE just MAYBE they know the limitations of the players they coach.

Absurd, why? What is different other than the fact that you believe in Prescott more?

You are missing the key point. He is more talented than Tebow, but he has to be schemed just like he was to be successful.
This is not a discussion about skill set or mentality.

Just on how he is used on the field.

And from the looks of things, he needs structure.

A lot of it.

Tebow completed 47.9% of his passes for his career. Dak has not been as accurate as he needs to be, but he is still light years ahead of Tebow as a passer.

I know exactly what kind of response this thread will get.

And that is fine.

But weeks ago when the Elliott suspension looked real, I pointed out we really did not have a big enough sample size without Elliott to make a determination about Prescott's future prospects. A lot of people got angry.

Now, after three games, we have a sample size. It is basically a quarter of a season.

To me, he looks like he has had the benefit of scripted starts since he came into the league. You just can't go from dangerous to inept with the loss of one player.

I don't care about the Sean Lee and Chaz Green arguments.

Look at the player and what he is doing.

I am pretty concerned. To the point that I believe he can't play without Elliott behind him.

The thing that bothers me at this stage is if it is the player or this staff's inability to adjust his game.

I realize it is next to impossible to do this after preseason, as it is set, but it still bugs me.

All I can say is that this season is over.

And we will be left with this QB question at the end.

Its clear now that Dak should have been the back-up watching & learning for 3 years.

How many times are we going to put the blame on a player and not on the coach? We do this way too much on here. How many Superbowls did Romo win with Jason Carrott as HC? One person goes down on Carrots team that's important and his team absolutely collapses. Keep changing QBs y'all and we will still be in the same mess. JC some how always has easy scapegoat no matter what. Its beyond ridiculous. As great as Romo was (because he was elite for dang sure) he could never get that far in the playoffs with Carrot. Sure maybe in the end it's ultimately a GM/owner issue but like that's ever going to change.

No, they don't.

As Vance Joseph said...easy to scout, tough to beat.

But when you lose key players like Tyron, Zack and EE...now they are easy to beat...particularly because they are easy to scout.

That's the thing.....I don't think they know. Because they do a terrible job of putting guys in position to succeed.

That is what I expected.

Good.

But as I expected, the logic of the analogy did not hit home.

Both players were schemed.

They both had their best success with systems built around them and in an incubator.

Prescott was in an incubator until Elliott's suspension.

Now he looks like he can't even play.

If you have a valid explanation, I would love to hear it.

I brought up Tebow and Griffin because basically, they are at his career pinnacle.
All QBs are schemed.
Remember our 4-12 season 2 years ago?
Remember how all the QBs looked that year with this offense scheme?
Remember that even Weeden left here and had some nice showings with the Texans?
Our offense is the least QB friendly offense that I have ever seen. Romo learned to be a magician..he had to be to succeed. This offense will chew up and spit out almost any QB. If Jerry doesn’t make some coaching changes Daks career could get derailed.

90.5, 68.6, 141.7, 93.8, 105.2, 134, 82.2, 106.8, 82.1, 30.4

Those are Dak’s QB ratings this year while struggling with a less effective sophomore year, recently dealing with injuries on the OL and lack of a good run game. He missed some throws in the first two games, then caught fire and looked like last year’s QB for several games. Now, when the entire team has stunk, he has looked very poor.

It’s way premature to call him a bust...silly. Probably the same guys who were laughing at Wentz last year when he had no weapons and no run game. Wentz didn’t become the darling this year with the same cast from last year. Philly totally revamped their receiving corps and lead RBs, along with getting healthy at OL and aggressive on defense.

We have a second round QB trying to learn how to play without a Run game and with an OL that has been inferior during this bad streak. No one know what he will be, but everyone knows what he can be, and with experience, he will learn how to play when his cast is weak.

If I'm Dak and Garrett is still here, I walk come contract time. No reason to let his career be ruined by Jerry's son and no reason to stick around for a group of fans who don't really want him here.

Not a shot at Romo, but it stresses the point even further.

Basically, Garrett reminds me of a poor man's Dan Reeves.

I've never seen a coach that is this capable at developing a player's skillset but by the same token is absolutely awful schematically, gameplanning, clock management, play calling, etc. And he seems incapable of making an adjustment.

All young QB's struggle at some point. Look at what Dak did last year. Look at all of his numbers. He has the tools to be great. He's just in a slump with no help from the coaches. He can play at a high level, he's proven that. I can't believe we are having this conversation........

I can see a QB struggling but when you have 30 something passing yards towards the end of the 1st half today or 80 yards going into the 4th quarter last Sunday, you've got some issues. Kellen Moore can give you better than that without Zeke.

Tim Tebow.

Robert Griffin.

The precedent is there.
Funny thing about this and I keep saying the same thing if Dak was on another team esp another NFCE team people definitely agree he been figured out. He on the Boys so you get this push back. I hope he can turn it around but it will look real funny if he doesn't turn it around until Zeke comes back. I would like him to play better before then so it doesn't look as bad.

Trying to be positive ...

This is the first stretch he has endured with constant prsssure in his face and, obviously, without Elliott to lean on. The results are obviously disastrous.

My hope is this is simply a case of him being spooked by the pressure, to the point where he sees ghosts when they aren’t even there. And everything is breaking down about his game as a result. The hope being he is able to rebound, or pick the pieces back up as the situation improves.

In three weeks, he went from being a guy who was a TD or two off the league lead to being a guy who doesn’t deserve to be on the field. Very strange.

Not strange at all

Teams have studied his tendencies and planned in off season
He has had trash coaching
No elliot
OL playing poorly

These are a reflection of lack of discipline and accountability on this team
