Is this the lowest the fanbase has ever been?

Nah, the year that the Cowboys hired Campo and did the draft and sign for backups thing was the worst. It was actually the great team being destroyed as opposed to the melodrama we get now.

That is surely excessive optimism right there. Getting to the first game of the playoffs means absolutely nothing anymore.

I mean 7 out of 16 teams in each conference make it to the playoffs by default so who cares. This team has sucked wins for 30 years and those of us who been around folllowing them for more than 40 will need to see more than first or even 2nd round playoffs to even get up out of our chair to see a try of hope with this team.

All that before we even get started on the senility of our owner who is absolutely running this team into the ground. To say it is just injuries is to be just that - excuses. When is the last time we actually tried to improve this team through free agency? How many times have this team been caught not understanding the rules in certain situations? Even now some calll this team very talented, but to EVERYONE else and many of us, you can see weakness everywhere. Finally, McCarthy was very bad in his offensive scheme and playcallling this year and again the culture has been very lacksadaisy.

I understand wanting to be optimistic, but at some point reality has to settle in and we are in for some serious reality, especially when we hire coaches that nobody else even loooks at to hire.
I understand that also. But it isn’t all just flush it.

The strike season was probably the worst season I went through . Most of this in my opinion is over exaggerated, we just had way too many injuries. Some of them probably are going to hurt the talent forever. Digs ,Prescott. Lawrence. A new coach is a good thing. I see positive these people are crazy.
LOL...Detroit had injuries. KC had injuries. Bills had injuries. Eagles had injuries. Commanders had injuries. So did all the playoff teams.

We started and ended the season with a sub-par, unproven RB. A 1st year starter at center and left tackle...the 2 most important positions on the line. Our locker room AND OWNERSHIP had no trust in the QB that just choked away another playoff run. But somehow...it's "injuries" - not mismanagement, not sub-par talent, not uninspiring coaching - "injuries".

Welp...reasoning like this is why Jerry can print money...

Its really ironic you say this as the Eagles await another conference championship game, a place we haven't been in 30 years. Wow
Yeah, but they’re going to choke it away again . I seriously not even rather go there, then lose when I get there.

And what happened to Detroit? They choked on offense and their defense was nonexistent. So what was good going there what was the purpose. I thought I was running back. Rico Dowell was a beast at the end of the season. He just got better and better and that’s what you’re supposed to do.

this has nothing to do with Jerry. He’s not getting the money from us. It’s called revenue shearing.

Like water wearing away stone, Big and little Enos has worn away the optimism and hope of the cowboys fanbase.

not surprised at all
that is how losers think
if you get to the game you have a chance.

Boy reasoning like this is why Jerry can print money. Lol.

We made the playoffs three years in a row, I think that’s pretty darn good. For a young team with an inept coach and owner. Imagine if we didn’t have all those injuries.
We have not won anything important since 1996. I don't care how many wins we have during the regular season and if we make it to the first round of the playoffs. It is a huge fail if we don't at least get to the NFC Championship. It's been too long of a drought.

It's also not about the team's win and loss record, the issue is that it's been 3 decades of not getting a championship. Sure we some great playmakers, but one and done in the post season is basically all we've had and it's both embarrassing and leaves me uninterested.

I guess this is a retort...but didn't really land with me. Not sure of your point. Perhaps the point was just to repeat what I said instead of making your own point?

About the same for me, except I live in Deadskins land.
Been a fan since 1975, btw.
Jerry has just sucked all the hope out of this fanbase by his unwillingness to step down in the face of 29 years of failure.
I am actually considering adopting the Deadskins as my new team because they get to beat Jerry twice a year. Most likely, I just won't have a favorite team anymore because the Cowboys are so ingrained in me. The problem is Jerry knows that about fans and knows he can do anything he wants to and still get their money and views.

They were the #1 seed. That's what happened to them. They made the NFC Championship game last year. What world are you living in?

Well, I stopped buying Cowboys merchandise years ago.
Don't go out of my way to watch them on TV anymore.
I am younger than he is so if I outlive him, maybe I will see better days?

It's only been since last offseason for me that I've been so bitter and disillusioned. This inept coaching search is just the last straw for me

I was lower around 11:00 AM September 8th when I heard that Dim was extended.

The domino effect after the playoff loss and then doing absolutely nothing, then signing Dak on opening! Now this ridiculous coaching search where they seem in over their head. The stupidity of this front office is astounding.

As a fan since 1978 I will say this ... Right now it's the only time I can recall having this little hope for next season before the Super Bowl is even played. With every other rough time I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can't see that right now. I am really hoping it changes and soon but man this is just depressing.

A lot of long times fans are starting to see how bleak the future really is with the Jones in charge.
