If nothing else, Brooks should be able to sustain a roster spot as a possession type of WR. He's no speedster but is able to be productive.

If Brooks can make it through preseason with out getting hurt, I think he makes the team based on what I have seen and heard so far.
I would agree.

It just poses a dilemma as to philosophy.

That needs to be the story going into the season: rolling with the best player, regardless, even if you have to cut bait from so-called surplus.

If Deuce Vaughn keeps improving in punt and kickoff returns, Turpin may become expendable due to roster spot availability.
I hate to say this as I like the kid and want him to make the team. But I wont be suprised if vaughn doesnt make the team. Im guessing they are gonna try to get him on the practice squad.

We typically have one udfa wr light up camp. Some make it, some don't. We will see in Brooks but some positives are a whole lot better than nothing

I think he's a safe bet to make the team. Turpin too.

Deuce isnt competing for Turpin's spot. He's a pro bowl returner, with electric skills that can't be easily matched. Deuce is competing against Davis for 3rd RB, special teams contributor (in any way), a guy who can be counted on to step in when needed, make a block, catch a pass, get a few yds, keep offense moving etc.

I think Deuce most likely has a spot. It's a battle between Davis & Dowdle. Dowdle shouldn't be relied on though. He's had lower body injuries going back to college.

They also have Ronald Jones in their back pocket and can re-evaluate after the 2nd game.

Brooks will fill that last spot, especially if he is good with special teams

The raw stats you look up on google don’t account for certain return qualifiers. This NFL.com article has a more comprehensive advanced way of breaking these down:

https://www.nfl.com/_amp/2022-nfl-season-s-top-10-return-specialists-keisean-nixon-nyheim-hines-lead

Regardless, what I posted before this shows clearly that the coaches and players around the league know he’s a good player. He’s on a cheap deal and just got those accolades after literally zero offseason. You are wrong if you think he’s going to get cut, just flat out doesn’t make sense with all the evidence.

Your evaluation of Turpin holds no weight when the league and the team have made it clear they feel his talent is tops in what you look for in a returner. All you have is google stats, I’m showing you how his peers and coaches voted for him and how he’s viewed around the league.

He’s on a cheap deal and is performing well in his first training camp. There is absolutely zero indication he’s to be cut. There’s no rule against having two short shifty guys on a team. Just cause Deuce got selected it doesn’t mean it’s an omen on Turpin’s future, not one team source has even indicated so. It’s completely a fan narrative.

I think its between him amd Simi.

Simi has the size and speed, but Brooks seems to be a more natural athlete and WR. And he excelled at ST in college.

Theres always the chance for a dark horse though. Consistency will be key. Can the guys who shine once or twice keep it up? Do they shine in PS games?

I know Croppers name has flashed. Don't see a role for him. Small speed guy. We have that in Turpin. And Cooks.

Durdin is kind of a surprise. Nothing about him has come out. But again, what we see in terms of clips and "reporting" is biased. Pet cats getting coverage.

Same goes for Hunter. Literally in the same clip where the "reporter" says Duece is breaking all these tackles (while its thud on ball carriers), Hunter walks in for a TD - literally untouched. Yet not a peep.

Cant wait for PS games where we can watch for ourselves and not rely on cherry picked, biased clips.

Brooks is receiving the TC hype award for 2023, let us see it in preseason games next please.
Go get em Brooks, or Turp sends you to the squad.

That are counting out height challenged players and no Vaughn will not make it to the practice squad again Mr. hater-faith

he will make the team and he will contribute during the regular season how much

so I don't know but he will make the team guaranteed not on the practice squad(lead pipe lock)

Because someone will take that dude off the PS and turn him into a weapon...

Kellen Moore's not here to mess that up this year he will be used probably six or seven times a game depending on the opponent

yes deuce Vaughn will be used in a running back rotation and out of the backfield as a pass catcher because that's what he did in college, and he will do it again in the NFL... no one's counting on him to be the number one running back it'll be Pollard and a couple of dudes will be rotating in and out and deuce Vaughn will be one of those.

right last year it was Houston and that Brandon kid?? ..neither helped the team in the RS when we were very thin at WR. Like that Pass rusher Kamara during HKs..lol got cut those pet cats rarely make it.

do we only have 3 official PS games? that not many for those guys to showcase anything.

its early, but yeah I agree. The wr bunch looks better. Simi needs 2 do something in next weeks preseason game to stick around. Cropper has shined as well.

I think in this new scheme, we might be airing it out more than we think, at least early, until we get a better handle on the line and running back Sitch.
