If I'm Garrett, I'm just gonna say, "Because I didn't want to."
it took him lying to them before they finally lit into his ***?
wade got treated like this everyday!

I understand but that's the culture Jerry has created these last couple of decades not our proud history .i wouldnt mind of we were winning and not perennial .500 champs. i really wouldnt mind at all. this is the Dallas Cowboy we are talking about here. we should be above the rest. screw mediocrity. screw being average.

Remember we have entire generation of fans now this is all they know. They been attracted to us by certain players not the success of the team .
Who said anything about impressing fans or reporters?
Since you have no idea what happened behind closed doors other than what Garrett has let on, you're basing your judgement on whether what he did is good enough or not on what he said at the press conference.
DEZ is a special player and i guess now he gets to use the passionate excuse while letting his teammates down. i guess its okay with folks around here?
Dez played the entire game on an injured knee. If you asked his teammates they would tell you that isn't "letting them down".

He was fined...
What more do you want? A public lashing?
I think Garrett needed to a bit more direct in his presser than just write off this as Dez being passionate Dez.
Garrett likes to talk about accountability and culture but then turns around gives a weak answer on what Dez did and then tries to excuse is a bit because Dez is "passionate".
I guess publicly revealing Dez missed treatment & meetings & fining him & letting everybody know you gave Dez a real stern talking to is 'looking the other way' or something.
Huh. We learn something every day.
We're all talking about this because the team & the coaches didn't look the other way. It was addressed & they made public how they addressed Dez's misbehavior.
When you are .500 over 6 years with a great QB and you are not accountable how can you hold others accountable ?
im more concerned about the precedent set. its okay to miss team duties so as long as you are passionate.
DEZ found a loophole i guess. im more impressed with him now. evevone can look the other way and not worry apparently. pretty cool deal for DEZ.
smarter than I thought.
yes the precedent is set that you can get away with not being professional by using the "passionate" excuse.
oh i didnt show up to a corporate meeting because im very passionate and i was afraid to hear bad news today.
sure dude. i mean that might be true but thats not how u handle stuff if you're a professional getting paid more money than most people will make in 10 lifetimes.
these dudes are held to higher standard. its what they got themselves into. not our fault. it comes with the territory.
What would it have taken more than a fine to say he didn't 'find a loophole'? Garrett making him sit for a game even if he could play?
He was FINED. Explain explicitly what else should have been done to keep Dez from 'getting away with this'. Explain exactly what accountability would look like if you were the head coach in this situation.
the problem is JG letting loose the idea that passion can afford you to not be at team meetings or go AWOL at times so as long as you pay a fine.
its not so much the fine as it is the precedent but also its history. this is an accountability issue that i gather shows up as to part of the reason why this team is perennially .500 ball

You mean the precedent set of publicly revealing your star WR missed meetings, holding him up to a public roasting, fining him for his misbehavior? You seriously think he skated or something and other players are now going to try this 'Ima miss meetings cause I'm PASSIONATE about the game!' precedent after watching what the media is gonna do to Dez for the next week AFTER he's already been fined by the team?
It'd take a really, really stupid player to use Dez's precedent as an example to start skipping treatment and team meetings after this.
"Hey Dez did this, I can do it too....wait why am I being fined? WHY DID YOU GO PUBLIC ABOUT THIS? OMG THE MEDIA IS GONNA CRUCIFY ME. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, COACH?!"
The "precedent" is that he cut Corey White, Devon Coleman, Christian Michael and Randle for being stupid.
