This guy will be posting by himself soon .....

Since he rarely has anything constructive to say, maybe we could invite him to post some place else.
Jags supposedly had a great draft maybe he could spice up their fan sites.

Jerry just announced it on the Radio.

They will not IR him in hopes that he could play this year.

He also confirmed that Kellen Moore is the backup.....

Kinda disappointing since that was supposedly our top priority after the season.

I think Linehan sold them on Moore being better than anyone they could get (although they did flirt with Matt Moore) at a decent price. I guess the hope is that between Moore and Prescott, the team is in better shape than it was.

I didn't figure Smith would go on IR when there's a possibility of him being able to play at some point this year.

Of course he will. They can not burn a valuable roster spot on a guy who will not play this year, it simply will not happen.

and for those saying Jerry is trying to sell tickets please understand that is not how it works anymore..the days of walkup ticket buyers in pro football are dead at least in the cities that have new stadiums.

We have PSL's. With a PSL you own the seat and must pay for your tickets by May 1st. All of the seats in the stadium are sold out by May 1st. there is no need to do anything promotionally to sell tickets.

Exactly, there will be mini camps, training camps and pre season to help determine things. Hell Dallas is not going to relegate Dak to 3rd string if he shows he is the better prospect. As for now Moore has knowledge of the playbook and more experience so I would expect him to go to camp as the backup and Dak role is to take it.

If Romo is out for a significant amount of time I kinda like having a awful QB like Moore or a Rookie who has never taken snaps under center like Prescott so we can lose and get the high pick.

It's just awful if you need them to step up during a game or for 1 or 2 weeks.

I don't believe in Moore in this offense. He'd probably be ok with a real offensive system but not something as bad as ours.

I don't know what Prescott could do if forced into that role. One thing he has going for him is his ability to keep plays alive with his feet. Not something I want on a regular basis from my QB but given his rookie status they will resort to what they know. Hell I watched Roger take off quite a bit as a young QB because that is what he did at Navy and it took some time for Landry to get Roger to keep his eyes down field and find the targets.

As for Moore I think he is a smart QB but with limited skills, how much he can improve with extra snaps is yet to be seen.

Just covering their *****. Don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet.

FWIW, I will be surprised if he plays this year. I just think when push comes to shove, even if he's cleared the Cowboys will end up deciding just give him the full season to continue to rehab and get stronger and slowly work himself back into team activities.

There is no added benefit in waiting if he can play well enough. Even at 80-90% he and the team likely benefit.

Not sure why people are so scared of Kellen moore as the backup?

last year people were going nuts and saying things like the offensive line has regressed, the wr cant get open etc...that was the result of two qb's standing there holding the ball and either not knowing the offense and not having the timing down or simply being not good enough to process what was happening fast enough.

As soon as moore came in he hit his backfoot and threw the ball, the offensive line looked completely different, wr were catching balls. Moore looked jumpy and inexperienced but he knew the offense and he knew the reads..He just got to aggressive in the red zone.

Personally I was hoping Dallas would have made a play for a guy like Chad Henne but he wasn't leaving Jax, So I don't have a problem with moore amongst the qb's who have been available. IMO he can do anything McCoy can do and since he already knows the offense he is a step ahead.

Unless a proven veteran becomes available who is actually an accomplished player I think Moore is fine. Kellen Moore can get the younger wr and lineman good work in the summer. I think because of some of the depth I think we have at the Offensive line and Running back position not to mention Butler, street and whitehead as the backups in the preseason at wr we will see for the first time in a number of years competent play in the 2-4th qrts of the preseason games. I think that has been missing here for a while. As long as green works out we will have Brown-leary-looney-RG?-Green on the line and that should allow moore to function in the summer. We have been getting killed in that area and it affects the work the qb and the wr-te-rb get in the preseason.

I just feel like it's hard to win under Garrett with a guy like Moore when you're relying on defense and letting the opposition basically know our play ahead of time based on down, distance, and formation.

We desperately need a backup who could extend plays and run a little IMO.

Relying on defense and scheme under Garrett without Romo will win 1 game out of 12.

The decision with Romo last year made perfect sense:

Option A: Rest Romo a few more weeks - The Cowboys are eliminated from the playoffs. Romo is healthy for 2016.
Option B: Bring back Romo, hope he doesn't take any bad hits or land on that shoulder for a couple weeks and that the team can win some games. Chance to get back in the playoff race. Chance Romo's shoulder doesn't hold up. Romo is healthy for 2016.

One option leaves no hope. One offered some. They chose the latter. In either case, Romo is healthy for 2016.

Yes I get it. It was a desperate move and Romo was not really physically fit to be playing. On the play, the opposing D routinely rolled him and his shoulder snapped like a twig. His odds were thin to make it through the season much less a game but that's the NFL.
At the time, I was all for it and so pumped to see him on the field but as he was playing, noticeably still very tender with all his mechanics, it was a matter of time he was going down and out. We'll see how healthy Romo is after a few big hits in 2016 because opposing D's will be testing his back, shoulder and everything else throughout. Would love nothing better than to see him finish 19 games next year.

So they're declaring our QB2 before training camp? So much for competition.

I'm just kidding, though. I don't believe a word that comes out Jerry's mouth.

I don't see why not. Jerry blabbed our draft strategy, and, true to form, he followed it to the letter. He basically let Peter King into our draft room and in on our draft conversation so everyone knows we wanted Paxton Lynch.

The man can't keep him mouth shut much less keep a secret.

Kellen is probably fine.
In a 1-2 game emergency, Dak may provide some interesting short term benefits over Kellen, with his ability to run and option.

If Romo is out a long time, I would rather tank and get at least 1 top draft pick (high 1) and 2 other good picks(high 2 and 3).
Then we get QB, DE and CB.

Well I cant change your mind on the scheme. I will say linehan is calling plays here and he has a history of good productive offenses. I think we have very good coaches in Linehan/Pope/Brown I don't think we struggled last season at all because of the scheme.

Weeden and Cassel both just stood their with the ball, early on the line and wr took the blame and then it fell on the qb's.

I think Romo makes it all go and last year was the perfect storm. We lost murray in free agency, then Dez in the 2nd qtr of the first game after having no offseason and finally Romo. When Romo plays he spreads the ball around. People complained and still complain about Williams but when Romo plays he is very productive. Romo comes back against Miami and all of a sudden escobar is on the stat sheet and Williams makes a huge 3rd down TD.

It was just too much to overcome. If we are healthy coming out of the summer the sky is the limit for this offense.

The running game is going to make quarterback inexperience far more forgiving.

With that said, Kellen Moore is the backup......today.

What Jerry says now means next to nothing.

Smith will probably be on the PUP to start the year. Very well end up on IR if he doesn't show enough improvement.
As of now, Moore is the 2nd string QB. Knows the playbook and is under contract.
It would of been weird to just hand the 2nd string spot to a guy you just drafted a week ago.

Even better than the pup he will be on the NFI

Linehan is calling Garrett's offense much like Callan when he was here. Linehan is just here to bring balance to the offense which Garrett never could figure out how to do.

I also don't think you can just tell defenses what you're going to do and follow all of the tendencies we lay out series after series game after game.

My 2 hopes for optimism is Romo and a Oline that can impose their will and eliminate a lot of the crap we work with in the passing game.
