Jerry sees McCarthy and Zimmer as a package deal

Well, yes and no.

Parcells agreed to stay with Zimmers 43, and they miraculously made the playoffs in year one so they stuck with it for the 6-10 year two, then BP put his foot down.

A miracle draft in 2005 helped the transition move quickly. Note that Zimmer was not familiar with the 34 at all but was kept because he was still under contract for another year.

Nothing against Zimmer, but not demanding his way from go was Parcells’ biggest mistake. By the time he got the roster right, his deal was up, they had a QB in place, and Jerry was like ‘thanks, I’ll take it from here’ Mr Credit….off rosters built by others.
I was a HS Sophomore in '03 so details were a little fuzzy.

I remember Parcells claiming to be won over a bit by the smaller linebackers (Coakley / Nguyen) but it felt like their days were numbered from the start. Seems like we probably just didn't have the personnel for a BP 3-4 until that stellar 2005 draft.

So maybe the Zimm/Parcells arrangement appropriately expired naturally. Maybe we just needed 1 more season from Parcells. I fully believed we would have made the super bowl in 07 had he stayed, but no chance we overcome the Pats.

It begun with his father’s wealth which helped him get into oil business. Then he hit on a gusher. Typical oil man’s fortune .
Jerry would have never hired Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells to run his oil business.

So why in the hell is HE trying to run a football team?

It’s his toy and we are along for the ride.

Hopefully the next 3 weeks damper his excitement about bringing McCarthy back.
The only thing that will put a damper on them coming back is going 0-3 or 1-2 the last three games. If we go 3-0 or 2-1 there’s better than a 50-50 chance they’re both back. The team hasn’t quit and has played much better than the first half of the season especially the running game and defense. Everything about the defense has improved. We’re stopping the run. Our pass rush has become relentless and we’re getting turnovers. Had it not been for the bad break against Cincinnati we would be in the playoff hunt. The only negative that continues to linger are the penalties.

Because he wouldn’t be interested in owning a franchise except to live out his dream of being a celebrity football guy.

If he couldn’t be the face of the team and everything from socks to jocks he wouldn’t have bought it.

He tried winning championships playing second fiddle to another face of his franchise and didn’t like it.

Jerry's admitted that if he was GM for any other team he would have been fired long ago. He doesn't care. He comes before the team.

And with Jerry's distain for paying coaches not to coach you're probably looking at another 4 years of Pennsylvania Fats.

If the coaching staff is back and we have another penny pinching free agency, please wake me up after thr 2025-2026 season is over, lol.

If Jerry does bring McCarthy back I hope McCarthy demands more offseason action as an extension requirement.

The best is yet to come, even though we are only a 1% change of even making the playoffs, lol

So you question bringing back coaches who look good against sub-500 teams (Giants, Bengals, Carolina), teams without their starting QB (Steelers) and teams who give games away due to questionable coaching (Commanders); but get pasted by the more competitive teams. And of course the Cowboys are again among the league leaders in penalties (4th most)…that’s great coaching.
Yeah…that sounds like Jones logic…take the path of least resistance; maintain the status quo; delude oneself into thinking the team is one-step away from contending for a championship.
