Johnny Manziel and RGIII mega thread **merged**

Yeah, yeah, I know many of us want neither, and hope we solve our quarterback problem through the draft.
But assuming both are available and the Cowboys aren't going to draft a quarterback in 2016, who would you want the Cowboys to sign:

Manziel or RGIII.

Me? I'm going RGIII. Why?

1. He's more talented than Manziel.
2. He doesn't have a problem with alcohol.
3. He has lead a NFL team to the playoffs.
4. He hasn't made a bunch of noise from the sidelines and appears to be more humble about his situation.
5. He'll make the most of his second change compared to Manziel who I think will be the same wherever he goes.

You're up ... ;)

I think it makes more sense for this team to get RG3 over Mr. Football. I know a lot of fans want us to draft a QB with the #4 pick, but to me it makes more sense to bring in a player that will help immediately this year. I think the front office feels the same way. Just have to hope Tony can give us at least another 2 years.

Johnny Manziel. Bullheaded. Arrogant. Substance abuser. He's like the Charlie Sheen of the NFL.

Winning.

I'm sick of hearing Manziel's name connected to the Cowboys. I don't blame Jerry for everything like everyone else does, but this one is soley his fault. Stop name dropping him....Cleveland did us a huge favor by taking that trainwreck themselves rather than have us be destroyed by the media even more (it would be x100 on the news if he was a Cowboy in Vegas), and we got a two time pro bowl guard instead. It's not like we passed on a qb that's doing as well as say....Derek Carr....this guy has been below average at best, awful most of the time. So why keep mentioning him? If anything Will McClay and Stephan saved you from embarassment. If he even thinks of bringing this clown here this off season, he'll have lost all credibility he's gained the past couple years with me (otherwise solid drafting, getting Hardy to come here, convincing La'el to choose us, trading for McClain, etc. etc)

I'm not saying Jerry Jones won't pursue Manziel but generally Jones has always talked much more about possible scenarios than he has actually acted upon. Jones spoke about Manziel often before he was drafted by Cleveland. Jones may not be overwhelming determined in acquiring Manziel now as well.

Bingo!

Jerry LOVES the attention it brings to Dallas. Do you know that the leading story (or at least the ones I've heard on sports shows like Mike & Mike, NFL Network, etc.) is whether Manziel will come to Dallas. They even played Jerry's interview talking about he's willing to take a risk on a player like Manziel.

Jerry may not be much of a GM, but he is a marketing genius. He knows how to keep the Cowboys in the news. I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped a bomb during Super Bowl week.

It wasn't simply a "bad game". It was an indictment of a player who had no idea what he was doing out there. After three years in the league.

To try to simply call it a bad game is completely misunderstanding any of what was said.

I think anyone wanting to pair up a bad student with bad teachers is making a mistake.

we will agree to disagree....I say worth a free look!!!

At this point, marketing it is really all he has. Can't be relevant on the field he has to try to be relevant in the headlines. He's probably already counting the money he'll make selling Johnny Football or RGIII jersey's and bobble heads.

I would like to think that RGIII could pull it together and maybe he could if he were willing to be a backup and if he's paired with the right quarterback coach.

But that piece by Cooley was pretty damning.
