Never said it was. Long term view at QB paid off, some dont want hear it.

You commented about Osweiler in reply to someone talking about one of the big 3 not being very good next year (their first year) though.

I get what you're saying, but it's a completely different argument. Like the poster you responded to said, none of these guys will be ready next season.

Well in fairness, anyone thinking Carson Wentz or Jared Goff will come in at some point next year and win games with this coaching staff is probably smoking crack too.

Wentz and Goff and Lynch are long plays............. not short term insurance policies if Romo gets hurt again next season.

it is agreed Wentz and Goff need a lot of bench time. All of this years crop does
how ever doing doing isnt advancing the problem. A veteran will only help short term

No, it makes you a better Cowboys fan tan me. The team has gotten so hard to watch over the years that I have become MORE of a Romo fan than I should be. Combine that w/ an unlikable owner and I'm not really sure what I will do once Romo retires IF Dallas is still fumbling around in mediocrity while Jerruh counts his Billions (which he's earned), putting marketing and his desire to be considered a "football guy" ahead of winning.

In short, when Romo is done, Dallas better be good, or apathetic won't be strong enough a word for my fandom-or lack thereof.

Am I a bad Cowboys fan if I don't care about finding any pride in Romo's career and just want the team to win again?

I'd cut Saint Jason Witten tomorrow and start a media smear campaign about his family if it meant a Cowboys Super Bowl title.

your are a tough guy but I like you.

Solid pick.
However, if the overall draft grade differential between Wentz and Goff is significant, Jerry & Co. may leapfrog Cleveland and trade with Tennessee for the 1st overall pick to select Wentz.
Either way, Goff or Wentz would be excellent franchise players for the future as well as the present.

Probably got it the other way around With Goff being the better prospect. Combine can't get here soon enough to settle it.

A Right Tackle would be a safe pick. Selecting a cornerback would be a disaster pick. Personally I wouldn't say Mo was the BPA.

Lot of right tackles bust. Alot more then people think. In the 2011 draft the riskiest picks at LT all went on to have pro bowl or all pro careers in Smith Solder and Costanzo. Whereas the safe RT's in Carimi and Sherrod would up being major busts

Been a fan since 1979 through thick and thin as a young lad. Bandwagon? I doubt there are many of those posting on this site. But there are some presumptive high and mighty posters..........like you

Come on Risen, you're better than that.

Better than what? Stating the truth?

Teams self scout in the offseason. From coaches to players. Even front office in sane cities, but that's a discussion for another day. The decision was made that the QBs they had behind Romo were good enough to sustain the team should he go down with an injury. That doomed the 2015 season.

Yeah, great offseason.

Jury is still out on the draft. Agree they hosed up the backup QB position. But getting Collins was huge IMO. As I said earlier, Jones looks solid and I think Gregory has potential. So no, the offseason wasn't a disaster.

Well you can always play the jury is still out card on a draft a year old but meet me here in 3 years when I'm right in telling you the Cowboys got virtually nothing out of another draft class after the 2nd round.

Combine that with the Weeden fiasco and this was yet again another poor offseason of preparation and talent acquisition. Which has been the norm around here for 20 years.

I don't like it anymore than you do. I can just admit it.

Goff is good at using his eyes to work coverages.

He's a good prospect. He just picked the wrong year to come out. Like the 1984 NBA Draft. Hakeem Olajuwon was the 1st pick but nobody remembers it because of Michael Jordan.

Goff's also 2 years younger than Wentz.

I'm looking forward to watching them go through the combine drills. I know some people question the value of the Combine but I like watching players go through static drills for comparisons and competition.

I'm far more interested in the interviews. Not that we get to see that. We're left to just reading reports of how some went.

When they start setting up the cones for the drills I always have flashbacks to Lewis and Gilbert putting together their robot when they first got to campus.

Ahh, the 1984 NBA Draft... Olajuwon went first, Jordan went third... these two legends sandwiched the great Sam Bowie who went 2nd overall...
