Lamar Miller unlikely to re-sign with Miami

He's already been saying that he's going to look for a new team and new contract. His expectations
are for more that Murray got last year. I would say he's probably asking for 5 years and around 8mil
average per year. He'll likely get it from somebody but definitely not Jerry. Jerry doesn't like to pay up
for RB's, safeties, or 1 Techs.

Zero chance he gets that much. Fact is, he is still unproven as a feature back. There could be a reason Miami had multiple coaches that chose not to overwork him. Secondly----Murray had a difficult time getting laid, hell the Jaguars backed away because they didn't want to pay. Demarco Murray came off a bell cow season where he was the OPOY. Murray could of made an argument he was the best in the league...Miller will be making a tough argument to say he's top 10.

Murray finally got a huge deal and he was an epic free agency bust. If Miller uses Demarco Murray as a bargaining chip...)3 will be laughed at.

I think Miller settles for something similar to what Ingram received. 4 years, 20 million, which was what Dallas wanted to pay Mirray.

I will say that McFadden played very well for Dallas. It's tough to see that through the muck, but he was really a bright spot..and credit goes to him for being a company man and waiting for his time to shine.

I still would love to have Miller. McFadden just can't be trusted to last a full season.

The Cowboys aren't going to trust him as a full-time back... not for 20+ carries a game for 16 games. They'll have another back to split carries with.

Yeah, I could see the top salary for any back this year being in the $5 mil per season range.

"Spray Tan" disagrees with the bolded part.

Sign this guy.

How can anyone be against this?

Not against it.

Just doesn't fit.

He wants to be "the guy" and paid like "the guy".

Dallas ain't doing that.

McFadden is here and will get 10-12 carries a game.

They aren't paying miller $5 mil+ a season to split carries.

I would not be opposed to Dallas signing Miller for depth, but only pay him to be the backup. I believe that Miller is somewhat overrated as a potential lead back. There are much better options out there than Miller, for less money than what he will want. I know many of you do not care for McFadden, but he was more than serviceable this past year, and would have rushed for even more yards if he had been given the starting job at the first of the year.

McFadden has plenty of talent, but his durability is a potential concern. Keep in mind that McFadden wasn't "run into the ground" like Murray was the year before, and if Dunbar returns, some of the carries will go to him, especially on 3rd down.

I think if Dunbar is resigned, we need a sturdy, stocky, punishing back who is durable and who is able to carry the load in the event that McFadden goes down, because I do not believe that Dunbar can take the punishment as an every down back. I think Ivory fits that mold, and there are undoubtably others who can serve that role at a fraction of what Miller will cost, and who will ultimately be a better fit than Miller in Dallas.

Lol
I would pay him the league minimum and make him earn it

There's really no reason not to bring him in, unless his asking price is just absurd. We have McFadden who just miraculously stayed healthy for an entire season, one of the few times in his career.

After him we have Turbin and Dunbar. Good lord.

As much as I'd like to spend a pick on a RB, it's actually a position we can fill nicely in FA, letting us draft BPA instead of for need. That's what good teams do.

I don't hate it as long as it's at a decent price. He wants Lynch money -which he likely merits- then no thanks.

Anyone counting on Dunbar for anything need to have their head examined. He is made of glass.

I'm in agreement with Broaddus on this. When asked, he said there were cheaper RBs in the draft.

He's a perfect fit for us. Very good running back, and is excellent in a ZBS.

Get it done, day 1. I'm sure his agent will call here. It makes too much sense. I could potentially even see a one year deal if it comes down to it.

Lamar Miller would be an awesome pick up IMO. He would be our best offensive FA pick up in years, IMO.

You act like McFadden getting 10 carries a game would hurt Miller's production. With how much we run the ball, Miller would still have a great amount of carries. Also, I'm a little unsure why you think McFadden would eat into Miller's carries anyways. I think we'd give the rock to whatever RB looks best and that would most likely be Miller.

Also McFadden has one year left on his contract, I doubt he gets another deal with us. It would be idiotic to pass up on a RB that fits our scheme because we have the injury prone, well-known draft bust in our disposal.

Probably the best play here for the Cowboys would be to trade with SF who will be looking for a QB
in the draft. I would suggest that the Cowboys take Ezekiel Elliot just before the Gints would take him.
That would give Dallas another high pick in the 3rd probably that they could use to select a QB to sit and
learn from the master. EE would instantly help Romo and our offense be even more deadly than with
Murray. If I were the boss for a day and I could, this would be the direction I would definitely try and get
done.
