Adding Fitz or Williams would be a great move IF we could pull if off. Drafting a solid WR is so hit or miss, especially in the 1st round.

I'd give up a 2nd round pick and Carpenter for him.

a former 11th overall pick, who's not even in his prime yet, is not going to go for a 2nd and a backup player

1) I live in MIchigan and it's no secret Roy has never felt comfortable here: which I'm glad of being a lifelong Cowboys fan! I don't think it'll take as much as some of you think to get him. The merry band of idiots known as the LIons Organization; led by the village idiot Matt Millen franchised CORY REDDING this season.:lmao2: A serviceable D.Tackle, but he has NO sacks this season. Bottom line: they'll be more careful about who they frachise this season and for how much. They are clueless, and if they franchise Roy, it'll be HUGE bucks, and as others have pointed out, they already have a ton of dough invested in Johnson and Furrey (of all people.)

2) The irony of all this to me is we really should have kept Joey Galloway: anyone seen him play for Tampa lately? The guys is TOP SHELF grade A stud WR material even in his mid 30's. That was Parcells worst move ever IMO. Can you imagine him opposite TO right now? Yikes................

I know this board loves RW (I like him a lot, too), but a 1 to DET for a player with one year on his contract who doesn't want to re-sign and who does want to come to Dallas is too generous.

I agree, Detroit might as well get what they can for him if he is def. gonna leave. I say Carp for RW and maybe throw in a 5th round pick.

We can easily find a LB in the lower rounds that will be as productive as carp.

I'd trade a first round pick, Browns or us for Roy Williams straight up. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Also, who cares what the hell Aikman has to say about his routes?

Besides, he was talking about RW the safety anyways. :D

Roy Williams would be an awesome addition to the passing game. But Dallas would need to limit their exposure to one 1st-rounder. Or one of our better young depth-players (Carpenter doesn't seem to fit Wade's plan) and a 2nd.

If it's meant to happen - great. Just don't make any desperation moves to acquire him.

Now that you have me dreaming about what could be, how is this for fantasy offseason.

1. Trade a 2nd and carp for RW
2. Sign FA Asante Samuals (Mov Henry to nickleback)
3. Trade up for McFadden
4. Resign Flo, Barber, Reeves, Canty, Hamlin, Ratliff and Crayton
5. Extend Columbo, Ware, and TNew.
6. Let Stephen Jones figure out how to make it all work under the cap
7. Win Back-to-back-to-back SB's!!!!!!

Imagine our offense with Romo McFadden RW, TO Witten and our current OL. No one could stop us period!

Imagine our current front seven with Asante, Tnew and Henry in nickle packages. Our run D is already great and teams dare not pass against us. That woul dbe a whole lot of sacks and INT's.

I can dream can't I???

Lets see...............Play for Houston with Shaub, or Dallas with Romo....... Gonna have to think about this one........

THis is great news IMO. Dare I say we aren't in as dire of need at WR in this years draft if RW has his sights on Dallas in 09?

And if thats the case, wouldn't it make it easier to package up 2 picks for a certain somone from Arkansas?

Things that make you go hmmmm...........

Actually, if I was the Cowboys, I'd offer our own first rounder for Roy before the draft this year... with the Lions pretty certain that Williams is on the free agent highway at the end of that season, they'd probably be willing to jump at that deal...

Such a trade would be contingent on Roy signing a contract extension, of course...

Hmm.

Who is it that has been saying for a couple of months that he was going to come home?

We've got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals...

Next, bring in Chris Simms to replace Brad Johnson as Romo's backup... he should be available pretty cheap...

It's time Texas' best professional football team started bringing in talent from Texas' best college football team... what the Boys need are more Horns...

Doubt we want to wait around until the chips fall with Roy Williams. However, since I don't follow the Lions and don't know much about Williams is he a speedy WR or a possession kind of guy? Also is he really that good? Would it be worth while to offer Detroit one of our first round picks for Roy Williams rather then draft a WR in the first round?

Roy Williams is a Michael Irvin type of receiver... he's got the size to be a good possession receiver, the speed to get deep on you, and he's a willing and capable blocker all over the field... he protects the ball pretty well too, having lost just 4 fumbles in 249 career touches...

He's averaged 71 catches for every 16 games played, over 1060 yards for every 16 games played... his career receiving average is an even 15.0 yards per catch, which shows that he's not just a possession receiver... his best season was 2006, where he caught 82 passes for 1310 yards (16.0 yards per catch)... the biggest knock on him is he's been a little fragile thus far in his NFL career, by the end of this season he will have missed 9 games in his 4 seasons, only playing all 16 games once...

Yes, I could justify giving up one of our first rounders for a proven wide reciever, rather than drafting one in the first round... you know what you're getting with Roy...

Oh, definitely. Wait one more year and get him for $$$ only.

The problem with that is twofold-- the Lions might just slap the franchise tag on him, meaning it would take more than one first rounder to pry him away, and on the open market, his price tag will undoubtedly go much higher...

So spend the first rounder, and save yourself some cap room in the process... the thinking being if Roy REALLY wants to come home to Texas, he might be willing to offer a Texas team a bit of a discount...

I'd give my left nut for him

Wow, that's REALLY taking one for the team... I'll relay your offer to Jerry, you never know but what it might be the offer that gets the job done...

Speaking for Cowboys fans everywhere, we deeply appreciate your sacrifice... we can only hope that somewhere in the future, a player will come along that you'd be willing to sacrifice your right testicle for as well...

You, sir, are a true fan...

A deal to land RW in Dallas would be the answer to a big question mark on the offense. Glenn and T.O. are like 32 and 33.
At some point you gotta land a blue-chipper who is motivated to be home and younger.
That would take the pressure off the draft for maybe a blockbuster McFadden deal or trade down on one a bit to get a super defensive back for the future. Or even for sooner than later.
