Lions WR-Roy Williams likely to leave

Wow, that's REALLY taking one for the team... I'll relay your offer to Jerry, you never know but what it might be the offer that gets the job done...

Speaking for Cowboys fans everywhere, we deeply appreciate your sacrifice... we can only hope that somewhere in the future, a player will come along that you'd be willing to sacrifice your right testicle for as well...

You, sir, are a true fan...

:lmao2:

I wouldn't give mine for anything for the record.

Looking at Roy Williams' stats, it doesn't look like he has missed a lot of action.

By the end of this season, he will have missed 9 games in 4 years in the league... in only 1 of those 4 seasons has he played a full 16 games...

Reservations about his durability are quite legitimate, I'm sad to say...

Now that you have me dreaming about what could be, how is this for fantasy offseason.

1. Trade a 2nd and carp for RW
2. Sign FA Asante Samuals (Mov Henry to nickleback)
3. Trade up for McFadden
4. Resign Flo, Barber, Reeves, Canty, Hamlin, Ratliff and Crayton
5. Extend Columbo, Ware, and TNew.
6. Let Stephen Jones figure out how to make it all work under the cap
7. Win Back-to-back-to-back SB's!!!!!!

Imagine our offense with Romo McFadden RW, TO Witten and our current OL. No one could stop us period!

Imagine our current front seven with Asante, Tnew and Henry in nickle packages. Our run D is already great and teams dare not pass against us. That woul dbe a whole lot of sacks and INT's.

I can dream can't I???

My dream is to sign RB Michael Turner (and let Julius hit the free agent highway}, then sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha (cheaper than Samuel by far, but a really fine CB in his own right), then trade for either Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald (either one would work)... then if Chris Simms is healthy, let him replace Brad Johnson as the backup QB... yes, I'm serious about that, I think that Simms would be pretty good operating behind the Cowboys' fine pass-blocking OL...

Then concentrate on re-signing our own FAs, and the draft... I think this would be a doable approach to free agency this offseason...

I'd love having Roy Williams line up for us. However, if we're talking about making a trade for a WR, give me Fitzgerald. If we couldn't get him, RW would be a great Plan B.

:hammer:

I'd take Fitz over RW any day of the week. Roy would be nice too though.

Also, who cares what the hell Aikman has to say about his routes?

By a long shot, the dumbest question I've ever read.

Troy made a living dropping back and watching WRs run routes. If ANYONE knows a thing or two about a WR running good/bad routes, it's Troy Aikman.

Bad routes lead to interceptions. Roy has great talent, but it's a waste if he's not where he's suppose to be when he's suppose to be there. If you can't trust the WR to cut in FRONT of the LB instead of going behind him, then you'll have no confidence throwing to him over the middle.

You can't possibly think that either Troy's opinion on a WRs routes are irrelevant or that a WR running bad routes is irrelevant. I refuse to believe it.

Wow, I thought you were kidding about Chris Simms earlier. Chris Simms sucks - always has, and always will. The only reason he started in Texas was because of the damn name. Applewhite should have remained the QB because he could actually win important games. Simms wouldn't even be in the NFL if not for the fact that his father did it.

That's part of the reason I want him, to mess with the Metroplex Mediots...

Think about how much fun it would be to have two Roy Williams, too... :D

But for the record, the guy's name is pronounced NAM-di ***-oh-moo-guh

A 26-6 record as a starter, and a career quarterback rating of 138.4 for the Longhorns, disputes that asinine assertion...

And as a pro, in 2005 he started 10 games for the Bucs, and completed 61 per cent of his passes, averaged 203.5 yards per game, threw for 10 TDs compared to 7 ints, and put up a respectable quarterback rating of 81.4... all this in spite of getting NO pass protection by the Bucs' offensive line (he was sacked 29 times in 10 games)...

Let's just say that your definition of "sucks" is a good deal different from mine... I liked Chris back in his college days, and I think he'd be a TERRIFIC backup, the kind who could step in for 5 or 6 games if needed and not have your offense fall apart on you... I also think that his mid-range passing game would be a good fit with what the Boys are doing offensively these days...

The best thing is, after sitting out the 07 season recovering from that ruptured spleen, his market value wouldn't be real high, meaning he could likely be signed for a bargain price...

WR Roy doesn't believe in gratuity. He can S the D in my opinion.

I would love to have Roy on the team. The guy is an absolute physical freak and a playmaker.

I like Roy Williams but I would definitely be concerned with his injury history. Great player when healthy, but he's fragile. We already got a player like that in Burnett.

You got that right......seems to get hurt alot

Imagine being able to say "damn that Roy Williams" on defense and offense.

Kitna really reduced this guys play year expectancy by those crazy horrible passes where he ends up landing awkwardly on his back. He'd be a nice addition, but I don't know how long he will last.

If you had to play for Detroit you would probably get hurt a lot too.

a former 11th overall pick, who's not even in his prime yet, is not going to go for a 2nd and a backup player
No **** sherlock.

If I were Detroit, I would let Williams go to the Texans before I would let him go to the Cowboys. It's a nice dream, but the price may well be too high. The head shed should still investigate the possibility after Detroit's season is over.

They have been talking about Roy Williams and also Kevin Jones moving on after this season quite a bit on Detroit Talk Radio.

Roy Williams appearantly gave them some glimmer of hope when he came out and talked about how he loved Mike Martz's system and that could score a bunch of points in it. That comment was made I believe earlier in the year when they were winning.

Funny, some of the fans that called into the Talk Radio Show in Detroit yesterday, wanted Roy Williams to leave because they knew he wouldnt be happy in Detroit and he could maximize his career going somewhere else where they are committed to winning.

The only concern I have is that he seems to get hurt quite about and that goes back to his college days as well.
