Matt Forte To Dallas Cowboys Trade Is Heating Up And Here’s Why

And their price is most likely quite high. If the Vikings are as high on Peterson still as they claim and envision him being there until the day he retires, they aren't giving him up for at least a few draft picks; and a couple of them will be high. That's about as dead as it can be in this league.

Once the May cuts date passed, that was it. I don't see Peterson ever playing in Dallas, and it will be a good thing. We don't need to be giving up premium picks for Peterson.

There are no premium picks that will have the impact of Peterson. He's a once in a generation player.

Results are the only jury that matters, the fact that 3 of the past 4 years Forte has had more yards than Peterson is a pretty good jury.

I'm guessing if Forte is indeed better than Peterson, no way Chicago trades him.

Probably not, but worth talking about anyway. Though just wondering, why wouldn't you want a guy who had 1846 yards last year and averaged 5.7 yards every time he touched the ball? Isn't that sort of ideal if you are willing to ignore the age thing (like so many obviously are with Peterson).

Same why Chicago wouldn't want him also. I'm guessing.

So, without reading 10 pages......let me get this straight. Dallas will pay Forte 7 million and possible lose OL depth and a draft pick instead of re-signing their home-grown guy for a mere 1 million more and lose no other resources?

Wouldnt we be set up for a nice comp pick if leary signs somewhere else at the end of the year?

Probably a fifth rounder if he gets a decent contract.

Yards are your only measuring stick, you are missIng the boat. What about averages? Scoring?

Up to you.

Why would they let Murray walk and then turn around and give up a draft pick to pay an older RB the same amount of money?

Yep.

That's why any trade speculation for Forte or Peterson is pure rubbish IMO.

The Cowboys had a chance to pay a 27-YO back that kind of coin AND NOT have to sacrifice a draft pick– and didn't do it.

They aren't trading any premium picks and they aren't paying any running back $7+ mil per season.

Some fan's here aren't happy unless we have so called pro bowlers at every position. Get rid of TWilliams, get rid of Leary, get rid of Carr and Claiborne, get rid of Wilcox and Church. Hope Randle proves people wrong. If not, then I'm sure Jerry and Stephen have a backup plan.

Exactly.

And I haven't given up on Williams not being a productive back. The guy was outstanding in college.

Regardless, running back is the most "plug & play" spot on the offense outside of FB. And it's a position that's rich in unemployed talent that's going to grow in amount as we march through the preseason.

Why? Because maybe they didn't think Murray was worth that amount of money

Doesn't mean somebody else isn't worth it

Chicago is in rebuilding mode

They also traded their best WR...so according to you they wouldn't have traded him either..but guess what? They did..and Forte is available too

That's a valid point but even the Cowboy brain trust has come out and said that the value of the running back position has changed over the years.

I would doubt they would rate any back that's 2 or 3 years older than Murray as being worth more... I just don't see it.

And to be able to afford any of these expensive backs, Carr would need to be released and I don't see that happening either. Yeah the guy is overpaid but I don't see the Cowboys unhinging the CB position with Claiborne uncertain for the start of the season.
