Forte did have 1,846 yards last year... that is the definition of an every down back, which is what we aren't sure if we lack right now (we think Randle might be that guy... but we don't know anything for sure because he hasn't been use that way in years and never at this level). Also Forte has missed 5 games his entire career... so while he does get dinged up from time to time, he almost always plays through it. Considering that right now we have 2 guys who we know for sure are unlikely to last a 16 game season, and 2 guys we really don't know about, a guy that can last 16 games would be huge for our team. I still almost prefer the idea of CJ2K just because I know he will be cheaper... but if there is any way we can make Forte not cost us a small fortune... he probably would be worth it.

Don't you know? Every great ancient back can recapture the essence of youth as a Dallas Cowboy.

What?????? You take him in a heartbeat. He might be wearing down...but he has more tread on the tire than McFadden.

Randle is already a better option. Trading for Forte would be in the "dumb moves made in a panic" category.

Cowboys need to stick to their guns. The entire off-season has fallen their direction, from free agency to the draft, by being patient. No need to change the philosophy now and sure as hell not for Matt freaking Forte.

AP? Yes.

Forte? :lmao:

Forte had more yards than AP in 2 of the last 3 years AP played (and had 1,846 yards last year when AP wasn't playing... something Peterson has only done twice, and one of those times was 2008). Why act like Forte compares that poorly to AP?

AP is the exception in my book.

Can you explain to me why... I just don't get it. Peterson is good no doubts there, but Forte is cheaper, will probably be cheaper to trade for, and has had more yardage than Peterson 2 of the past 3 years... I just honestly want to hear someone say why they think Peterson is so great and Forte is so horrible.

However, the Cowboys have also been holding their cards very close to not let anyone know what they are up to.

Cowboys analysts Bryan Broaddus believes the Cowboys are going to add another piece to their backfield. He also believes that the Cowboys will probably be shopping offensive lineman Ronald Leary.

make me barf!!!!!! If we trade Leary - add Michael Brockers, DT from StL. I am happy with the RB position as it sits......

Forte is an excellent back. I would lump him in with the Murray's of the world. Although Forte's age concerns me. He is right at the age where you see running backs start losing it quick. Once you lose it, it very rarely comes back. I would be surprised if the Cowboys traded for him. I certainly wouldn't give up a top three round draft pick.

He is in a different stratosphere than Chris Johnson though. I believe johnson is done and I will be surprised if he is on a opening day roster.

I don't know what kind of proof you are looking for, but 99 out of 100 people would tell you Peterson is a much better RB than Forte. Peterson has the combination of size, speed and explosion that most RBs can only dream of.

Leary is a very good OG and excellent depth if he loses his starting job. And I'm not convinced that Forte would be any better than the RBs we already have.

And in that same period of time Forte has scored 29 TDs. Peterson? 24 while playing a full 16 fewer games. Still wondering why Forte compares that poorly to AP?

You know who his QB and OL were right?

Stop.
To be clear, Broaddus said Dallas had been working on a potential deal without mentioning player names at all. The context of how he described it was that Dallas wanted to really see what they had, but also wanted to prepare a contingency plan if they were not satisfied. He said nothing about things heating up and the inference was that nothing would happen until TC or even during the season.

This article has no more credibility than a post here (as less credibility than some of the posts here).

Sports and Goal? Really? The person who wrote that doesn't even list his last name.

Thanks "Tom."
Nice.........

I want the guy who can play 16 games not the guy who is liable to be injured or decided his son needs leaves in his mouth... so what's your point?

And 3 of the past 4 years 99 out of 100 people would be wrong.
