Matt Forte To Dallas Cowboys Trade Is Heating Up And Here’s Why

Chicago is in rebuilding mode

They also traded their best WR...so according to you they wouldn't have traded him either..but guess what? They did..and Forte is available too

If the Cowboys didn't value Murray at more than $6 mil per season, I can't see them valuing a guy who averaged almost a full yard less than him for $7 mil per season– and is two years older.

That just doesn't make sense.

That's a valid point but even the Cowboy brain trust has come out and said that the value of the running back position has changed over the years.

I would doubt they would rate any back that's 2 or 3 years older than Murray as being worth more... I just don't see it.

And to be able to afford any of these expensive backs, Carr would need to be released and I don't see that happening either. Yeah the guy is overpaid but I don't see the Cowboys unhinging the CB position with Claiborne uncertain for the start of the season.

I don't necessarily think they are interested in expensive RBs either....but an expensive RB for one year is quite different than a 5 year deal..

And the Cowboys brought in too many RBS in for visits for me to believe that they aren't interested in upgrading...I personally don't want Forte...but I don't make decisions

I have to laugh at many going berserk as if this trade is imminent. CHILLAX, guys.

Of course it makes sense..just bc Forte did less in Chicago doesn't mean Murray is better than Him...Murray had a significantly better supporting cast

I understand the point.

And yeah I agree with the premise that they would like to upgrade.

But if it was too painful for them to trade up in the 3rd round to grab a back I would think the pain of pain a guy $7 mil this season (plus having to release Carr) would be too much to bare.

But a YPC difference is substantial. And it's not like Chicago's cupboard was bare on offense.

Then way not look at Chris Johnson?

He averaged 4.3 ypc for the Jets and had an even worse supporting cast?

And he wouldn't cost a draft pick.

I can agree that it's certainly possible...but I wouldn't completely rule it out either...again, I don't really want Forte either...if we are going after an expensive RB, I'd much rather have Peterson

Yeah out of the two Peterson is the better player.

Chris Johnson just seems to me a back who wants to ride the good time gravy train. I guess that's understandable, but, still he just shouts "Mercenary" at me.

I honestly know zero about what CJ has left in the tank...I tried finding some videos on him from last year and wasn't very successful...he'd be a good option if he's still the same player...something tells me he isn't

CJ is just one example.

There will be many in the unemployed ranks after the start of training camp.

How will those guys be any better than what we have now?

Great point and they may not be.

I think it comes down to "epic fail" or injury.

Either a guy will need to look horrible or get injured in order for another guy to be brought in.

Personally I think there's at least one guy on the existing roster who can carry the ball 250 times and get at least 4.5 YPC.

CJ has never left a team on his own volition
He would've stayed in Tenn, but they cut him. The new regime just wanted a change and his contract was huge.
New York also had a new coach. They also cut him.

That's a tall order

I don't think it's that tall.

Given the talent on the rest of the offense I think 4.5 YPC is a realistic goal.

250 carries is almost 16 per game.

In other words 1,125 yards.

The offensive line is arguably the best in the NFL.

The QB is definitely in the top 7 at the position.

The WR's are good. The TE's are good.

And the offensive persona is now "run the ball".

No... that's not a tall order IMO.

According to our fans, every team is in rebuilding mode when it comes to a player they want.
