Our OL won't be an upgrade if we traded Leary for him. Our backup OL would be pathetic. Bernadeau, with a few unproven rookies, and some other camp bodies. That's it.

I have never suggested trading Leary for him. I wouldn't trade Leary because Collins is unproven.

But honestly, it's really just a luxury at this point that we have Leary and Collins. Most teams in this league have weak depth at OL, they can all be considered having "pathetic" depth.

JJones and Garrett understand the value and strength of our OL and I just don't see them even remotely thinking of trading Leary knowing the backup rookies haven't even played one snap yet, much less Collins.

NO No No No! what the cowboys need to do is slow down and stop listening to the critics of their decision not to draft a RB. Forte is almost 30 years old. and he is in decline. they need to go with the RB they have, and stop acting like they are desperate. because when you are desperate, you end up making bad deals. if RB is that important to them. they should have paid Murray. they are the ones that are saying anyone can run behind this line. either. they believe that or they don't.

True.
But I see no indication that the Cowboys FA are the ones panicking at all.

The only place you hear this unsubstantiated junk is from some media and a lot of fans that are freakish out.

First off the Cowboys would need to clear enough space to accommodate Forte's base pay of $7 mil this season.

Then you have Fort's performance...

The guy is a decent back but he's no great shakes.

Lifetime 4.2 YPC average.

Last year he averaged 3.9 YPC on the season and his longest run from scrimmage was a whopping 32 yards.

On top of that he's 29 years old.

Given that they are the same age, I'd take Chris Johnson over Forte. Wouldn't cost a draft pick and the salary is much more palatable.

This is almost laughable :lmao2:

The only back you trade picks for and even possibly Leary is Peterson. Otherwise, call up CJ and call it a day.

However, the Cowboys have also been holding their cards very close to not let anyone know what they are up to.

Cowboys analysts Bryan Broaddus believes the Cowboys are going to add another piece to their backfield. He also believes that the Cowboys will probably be shopping offensive lineman Ronald Leary.

Forte??? Should have just re-signed Murray then (and KEPT Leary). This is crazy. Just go with what we have or trade for a young up and comer. There is only one older (used and abused) player we should be targeting.

Forte is a top 5 back.

Everyone wants a new RB but you look around at the big names and its a bunch of meh.

I would love Jamaal Charles or Leveon Bell, but everyone else, besides AD, is a bunch of meh.

This Forte crap is a smoke screen, Brain Broaddus said he has heard names of 2 possible RBs.....but would not disclose there names. IMO AP would be the first, but I have a gut feeling the Cowboys are trying to get Arian Foster out of Houston. Arian Foster carries a $8.9 mil cap hit (9.5 next yr) for Houston.... Cowboys could renegotiate Foster deal and Houston would a gain a draft pick.

And my goodness people, Matt Forte is no better than what we have now?

He had over 1,000 yards rushing last year, 100 freakin receptions for nearly 900 yards. And this isn't an upgrade?

Yeah, some of you are going into crazy land now and buying into the crap talk from Jerry.

I hear ya......I'm seriously starting to doubt anyone watches football in this place.......Give me Forte if the Bears are moving on. And If I remember right...this is Forte's contract year. @ 7 million....It's not like your married to him. You run him into the ground just like you did w/ Murray....then let him go after this season.

Still tickes me off all this RB talk.....

We could have nipped this in the bud by taking Ajayi in the 4th. This LBer Damien Wilson had better be an all pro:mad:

I have to be honest....I saw Matt Forte last year......and I wasn't nearly impressed with him. I'd pick him up if he was cut but to trade for him? Anyone that would trade for him only is doing it because they want a big name at running back. He's living off his name at this point.

No to Forte, he is on the down slide and not really impressive last year.

Because Ajayi is going to be one?

Was Ajayi even on our draft board? If so, was he higher than Wilson?

The truth is we could have drafted Ajayi at any point in the draft but choose not too. There is a reason for that.

So we're not going to re-sign the reigning NFL offensive MVP $8M year, which we could even lower the cap hit for by spreading the money out over a number of years, yet we are going to take on Matt Forte's $7M cap hit and then lose him to free agency at the end of the year?

Bingo. it makes no sense at all. they need to just slow down and play with what they have.

I like Forte, but no way in hell do I give up Leary for him. Why can't we kick the tires on Moreno instead?

Nice write up, but I don't see it happening. Cool speculation tho.

Is this the same Broaddus that had Marinelli's van packed and headed to Tampa Monday monring after the GB loss? Done deal?
