Morning, Pops and pen pals. Welcome to the Weekend! Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? My daughter and her family arrive from Calif. tomorrow to spend Christmas with us. She and I will go to the Cowboys vs Skids game on the 29th. There are three NFL games on TV today for anyone interested in that sort of thing. :flagwave: Have a great weekend, folks.

Morning Pops and fellow holiday fun seekers. Those of you that have family coming in to stay with you, I hope their stay is enjoyable yet brief enough for you not to be in the countdown phase of the visit. Ben Franklin summarized guests best by comparing them to fish, after three days they begin to smell.

Oh, I know, they're family how dare I? That's exactly why I say that. Hey, I am going to Austin but I will be staying in a hotel where I can escape other people's children and the totally unnecessary noises they make. The only acceptable noises from children are farting and laughter, oddly go hand in hand, no crying, whining, bickering and especially no ratting out the big brother.

My son and daughter-in-law are always apologizing for the video games my 11 and 7 year old grandsons are so involved in but try fighting that as parents. We did the same with TV. Before that people used to just tell them children are to be seen and not heard and lock the cellar door.

We have two sons but they're 8 years apart so we didn't have that competitive sibling situation and I had a map on the wall and I would change the little circle each day and my sons asked me what that was when they were at the age of comprehension, I am still looking forward to arriving there, and I would tell them "that's where the gypsies are camped and you know how much your mother loves jewelry".

Morning Pops and friends. I hope everyone has their shopping finished by now. Earlier this year, I caught a sale on washcloths and now I'm wondering what to do with this butt load of washcloths. They don't make good sense as Christmas presents, but the sale was amazing! I hate crowds and plan for Christmas months in advance and yet I had to go to Sam's to get a prescription refilled this week. I remembered something of vital importance on an aisle I don't normally visit. I whipped my buggy over and ran into a traffic jam. I tried to go down a different aisle but it was packed, so I tried backing up and my butt said "Warning, warning! You are trapped!". Sam's had moved toys to that area along with cheap fuzzy faced chairs.

I can see the kids now. Leave your hopes, dreams and what you remember of your letter to Santa behind. No new bicycle next to the tree with your name on it, you're getting a fuzzy faced chair that cost $20 from Sam's. If you're lucky, you might get a Tickle Me Elmo doll which was in vogue in the 20th century. Then brace yourself for the "when I was a kid, I got an apple and hand full of walnuts for Christmas" parables. Honestly, people should be fined for telling that story.

I remember writing the Dear Santa letters and danged near busting a gut trying to be good for 3 whole weeks before Christmas. Momma held our tree loot over our heads throughout December. "Santa's watching" and I didn't crack that code. I'd sometimes snap and send a sibling off crying to momma. The pure, simple joy of pulling their hair was greater than the demerits to my Christmas plunder. YES, it was worth it. I don't need new socks or underwear anyway.

Thank you for the heads up, Leon. I must hold tightly to the last slivers of NFL while I can. The Cowboys are always the icing on that cake. I'm going to do some more baking. My apple pecan bread was a huge hit as the last crumbs are being rationed at work. May the hearts that are aching be soothed by the balm of the Spirit of Christmas. (El Oh Quints)

Morning, Pops and all. Lots of fog rising up from the Brazos River and blanketing our back yard. Not too bad in the front yard. We are going to DFW airport today to retrieve out daughter and her family. Should be home in time for the Cowboys game though. May you all be blessed.

Morning Pops and everyone. 'Bout to get this day going. I'm picking up the two local grands today and bringing them back to my place for a few hours to play some Christmas bingo, have some pizza and have them open their presents. I won't get to see them on Christmas this year so thought this would be fun.

After I drop them off I'll hustle butt back 'home' to start prepping some cranberry-chocolate chip muffins and get ready for the game.

Everyone have a great day.

Morning Pops and Christmas arrived early for me with NFLN's out of the park triple header yesterday. Best football day of the season so far. I am not a habitual viewer of NFLN so I didn't realize how "out there" Steve Smith is, did they drug test him when he played? He actually was pretty funny when asked about the DAL-PHL game when he said "who cares? They'll be gone in two weeks anyway".

Y'all enjoy the game and I think, think, I've adjusted my way back throttle to get me jazzed for this game only because it's the Eagles but if the Cowboys win, another thought looms. Will they mail the Commander game in since it won't matter and be content to go into the playoffs as an 8-8 team? Not sure how I feel about that but I have never pulled for a team in the playoffs with a .500 record or worse. But here's the kicker few have discussed. In a seeding system, the only team that could keep DAL out of the 6th spot in CHI. But I do not like the division champ seeding system as I think any of then 4 teams that might drop into that 6 spot will have better records and be better teams.

I don't know if you've followed this much but the general feel is everybody is sick of the East. Going to be really interesting to se how DAL handles the 16th game if they win today.

Good morning Pops and Zoner Friends,

I am sure that, much like me, you occasionally get a song stuck in your head. For no apparent reason, you find yourself humming or strutting (oh, yes, I strut) to some long-forgotten tune. Well, it happened to me this morning.

I was outside at sunrise walking the two backup cats, enjoying a cup of tea and surveying the forest behind our house. With no warning, I started humming, then singing and eventually strutting to the "Pirates of Penzance" song, "I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General ". No idea where it came from - haven't seen or even thought about the Gilbert and Sullivan musical in several decades.

Everything seemed perfectly normal - me singing and the cats chasing turkeys - until my wife called out from the balcony, "what's wrong with you?". I have to admit, it wasn't said in an endearing manner, either.

I am still smiling and am now in the perfect mood for a Cowboys Eagles game.

Happy Sunday to everyone!

Let's hear it for Mrs. Colo, keeping the musical standards of the forest alive in Colorado. And I am not sure if those cats were chasing turkeys or just running away. I gotta say, I run into a man singing show tunes in the woods, I am running...…..into the arms of a mama grizzly.

Good afternoon Pops and my fellow crazy Zoners. It's Cowboys Day! I hope we finish out the season like last week. We mean business and this time it's personal! The Patriots time is up, they're practically the walking dead and just refuse to lay down. Can anyone see why we were voted the best fan base in the NFL. Yes, it was an actual study of fans and we're #1. Jerry Jones could not buy this loyalty. It's like RGV's current avatar, it's in our DNA. Once upon a time, long, long ago it wasn't, but now it's in there and not going anywhere.

I made some lemon blueberry bread yesterday. That reminds me, I've got to mop after the unfortunate flour and baking powder explosion. I didn't get mad at myself either, this was long over due. It didn't turn out well which was disrespectful of the bread after all the mess and trouble I went through to make it.

Thanks for the story, Colo. That's some classic stuff and bless your wife's heart for being concerned about her husband playing Gene Kelly with The Back Up Cats.

Enjoy the game everyone and don't try to catch the ball, RGV.

I failed to mention, I was still in my housecoat and big fluffy house shoes. Quite a vision.

You inspire me. With a name like The Back Up Cats, maybe I should be singing, "Memories", from Cats?
