Morning Pops. Morning fellas and good morning to any who may decide to stop in before they get their weekend started.

I hope everybody is in fine spirits today. This weekend, I think I'm gonna try and get a spaghetti meal together with my Son and Daughter and the Grandbaby. Might make up a big ole pot of spaghetti, cook up some meatballs, ground up some garlic and some butter for some Garlic Bread, throw togther a salad and maybe get the Wife to make some dessert for us. Sit around, watch the Heels/FSU game and maybe drink a beer or two, smoke a cigar. Yep, I think that's what I'm gonna try and plan for tomorrow.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John and Gramma, I hope you are all doing well today. I hope all of you have a great weekend.

Everybody, welcome to the weekend!

If one of my boys worked at a bar and grill, it would be "Take Dad to work day" every night.

Hope you are having a grand time and everyone cooperates and keeps your best interest in mind. It is special when Gramma comes to visit and by God everyone should understand that.
My brothers and I used to hide on the roof until our grandmother left. She wasn't a warm and fuzzy granny.

Morning Pops and Zoner Friends. Feeling a bit melancholy this morning.

Late last night, my wife and I received news that a long-term work colleague and friend had passed away. We spent half the night reflecting on life and the various decisions and paths one takes along the way.

There is an expected air of sadness when a friend or family member passes, but there is also recognition and celebration of a life well lived.

By no means is this meant to be a "downer" post. Rather, just a reminder of the value of friendship.
Sorry for your lost, Colo, but glad to see you find solace in the memories.

Warm and fuzzies are great in their place but I do discipline when needed, which isn't often. They're very well behaved and we often hear compliments from others when we are in public. That middle child tho... always feel like he's plotting the next takeover, whether it's his sisters french fries or the last 'whatever'. He's a stinker.

Advantage is, since I don't live here I also get to spoil :)... severely. Drives my daughter crazy:D.

So @GrammaJan , how's the visit? Did the ex keep his word, and let the kids stay with you?
Yes! The 3 year old is waking up like her usual princess self...mad at the world lol. Middle child is still sleeping recharging his ornery batteries and the oldest is already into the video games.

Whatever happened to the good old Saturday morning cartoons and an oversized bowl of Capn Crunch?

You're in the enviable position of being able to leave whenever you want, so I say you make sure to get them all hopped up on sugar before you go.
And whatever you do, don't try to play video games with the kid. It'll just show you how dexterous you ain't!

Appreciate the kind words and, as I get ready for today, I've got a smile on my face recalling some of the shenanigans we pulled at work.

It is interesting to see some of the responses to our friend's passing: They generally fall into two categories, "what happened?" and, "I remember that time when...". I am definitely in the later group

Not a big fan of video gaming anyway. I dooooo like Mahjong and Sudoku tho, and the oldest is the 'gifted' kid so we still do that together. There's one out there I haven't yet tried but did introduce him to called Kakuro. Kind of like number crosswords.

...and yes the main reason I don't do video games is I have zero coordination. When I do get into Mario Kart with them it's more to give them a good laugh, but they ultimately quit because my play level is sooo bad they get frustrated and walk away ;)

Morning Pops and those teary eyed for the Saturday morning cartoons and over sized bowls of cereal Gramma mentioned. I recall those times fondly as I captained our one TV solo on Saturday mornings with Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies, Sky King, Roy Rogers and Fury and then Clutch Cargo and Spaaaaaaccccccce Ghhhhhhooooooossssst and later with my first born as we watched Land of the Lost and I played a crazed stumbling Sleestak stalking his cereal bowl until he yelled for Mom to help and but she was wary as the Sleestak could show up in the bedroom late at night.....or was that just my normal heavy breathing?

Gramma, I was a middle child. I was actually an only child with an imaginary older brother who became a physician so he could write me doctors notes and an imaginary younger sister who moonlighted as my Mom, signing report cards. Ahhhh, the creative fertile imagination of a child that never grew up. I should have picked Peter Pan as my moniker.

I do have a middle grandson and those middle ones are different and march to the beat of a different drummer or beat on it themselves. The third is the first girl and that brings it's own challenges for the middle scamp. Fortunately, the oldest is a good and sweet kid so he has a good older brother.

I tell ya, my greatest regret in life is not having at least one sibling.....except at Christmas. All mine!!!! All miiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnne!!!!!!!! Seriously, I was a kid that could have really benefitted from having an older brother or sister as I felt lonely even running with my pack in the neighborhood and I think that allowed me to get to comfortable living in my own head.

Exactly my situation with the grands. Youngest is the girl and two older boys. Back home I have a girl and boy that are smack in the middle of these three. Wish I could retire and just spend time bouncing between everyone... but circumstances being what they are that's not gonna happen. My own choices in life created my situation. Hopefully my daughter is able to avoid some of my mistakes and get her life plan in order before she realizes what's passed her by.

As for siblings, they're great...sometimes. I had two older sisters, one older brother and twin brothers less than a year younger than me (??? We are all the same age for a month and 20 days...). There were at times way too many of us, and I'm sure my mom felt the same all the time.

Morning, Pops and Pen Pals. I'm going to put up some shutters and swap out a light fixture today. We had installed two track lighting fixtures when we added an addition to the house last year. One of them quit working but was thankfully still under warranty. We took it back and were told that those particular fixtures were under a safety recall. So they refunded our money and we bought two new fixtures. I swapped the other one out already and today I'll finish the job and take it back for a refund. Have a blessed day, everyone.

Good morning Pops and friends. Wife and I are back in south Texas for 3 weeks looking after my mom. I have lots of idle time so I’m going to see if I can make a bracelet using paracord. Learning the knots are the key from watching utube. ;)

Afternoon Pops and friends. Good news about the fixture Leon. It messed up under warranty and you were able to replace it without it causing trouble.

I'm off into another "nesting" frenzy as I try to come up to solutions for my home's shortcomings which are few. It has a small kitchen which is perfect for one person, but the enclosed area has small doors with an unreasonable expanse of unusable storage reaching back between the dishwasher, oven and walls. I ordered a 70X48X16 metal shelving unit to put my cast iron collection on. It got good to me and I've worked in display, so it's in a constant state of rearrangement. I'll never forget being handed about 30 scarves and a window box. It was a mental challenge. Pick a scarf up, release it, gravity does it's thing and I must defy it. I did have fun stretching my creative legs. I may put a couple of scarves out with my cookware before all is said and done. I ordered some bunny statues. I'm not coming out of this one any time soon. (Do not attempt during NFL season.)

Be safe and enjoy your visit, RGV. Everyone here's hoping it's a good week for us.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. I woke up at 3:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep so my normal one hour of solitude will be more like 2 hours this morning. We're looking for warm days today and tomorrow so it should be very pleasant. Have a great day, Y'all.
