Afternoon Pops and friends. I had to tend to some business today and it went so much easier than expected. I'm sort of let down right now. Time to focus on other outside projects before it gets too hot. @LeonDixson I discovered the Hori Hori knife to help in my garden area. It's been a great help with several garden projects. I call it my Crocodile Dundee knife. You can find them on Amazon if you're interested. I don't recommend it for Coach and his hydroponic garden. The knife might give him crazy ideas and none of us are close enough to bail him out in a timely fashion.

My brain is swirling with "before it gets too hot" ideas and I'm having a hard time concentrating here. Thank you for the kind words, Coach. I was telling momma and my brother yesterday about some of your grocery store antics and the last ticket you got. My brother isn't a football fan but comes here for the funny stuff. He is acquainted with this CouchCoach character. You're officially famous with non Cowboy Zone people, Coach! You probably already knew that though.

Have a good day everyone.
Another cheap knife to help out in the garden: A regular old bread knife!!!! I use it to clean my mower deck, amongst many other uses. Works great for cutting sod when fitting around sprinklers and such. I get them at Walmart for 88 cents!!!!

Afternoon Pops and friends. Yard work is a terrible thing but still preferable to dealing with the public. I can't stick them to the side and fix a glass of tea, sit down and unwind. Even though the yard is outside, it's still nicer to me than some customers.

Leon, I didn't mention your home improvement projects because I would go slap nuts on you. I have watched so much HGTV that I'm looking to improve every house/yard I see. I was watching an episode of Bonanza one day and was puzzled by window placement and lack of curtains. They were using it to shoot at Washington Commanders, so I couldn't hold that against them. Glad to hear you're feeling up to golfing again. We take that as a very good sign.

Coach, I too suffer from BSODD. I'm regularly having an internal conversation telling myself not to go down certain aisles. Don't go down that aisle! But, I need to check for a certain product. Which one? The pet aisle. OK, but get that one item and leave! After permission is granted, I ignore myself completely. LEAVE! Nuh uh. Hey, if you go to those websites from your email, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click unsubscribe. I had to do that quite a bit.

Glad you had a good time, ABQ. Have a good Wednesday everyone!
Manalive, if you lived in my area I'd be over tootsweet w/ my 61 inch Bobcat zero turn mower!!!!!

Good morning Pops and Zoner Friends.

Perfect weather has returned to the Colorado Front Range - lot's of sunshine with daytime highs in the low 70's and night time how's in the 50's - and we are spending a lot more time in the yard.

When we built our dream retirement home a couple of year's ago, we did so with the idea of minimalizing our "footprint". As much as possible, we replanted every tree impacted by the house construction site and planted native rangeland grass around the front of the house. Despite the abundance of pines, spruce and fir trees, the soil is very thin and poor and precautions must be taken to prevent undo erosion.

This past fall we installed a seies of raised garden beds and, with the new sprinkler and drip system, we should have a good crop of table veggies this summer and fall. The garden, along with all of the flowering plants, must be encased in some type of fencing to protect them from deer, elk, turkey and bears!

Why the nature "lecture"? Colorado is a popular destination for retirees and young couples looking for a better life. It never ceases to amuse and disappoint me to see new families move into the area and try to bring the city with them. From putting green-like yards to large-scale removal of native trees, we are altering the land-scape... And not in a good way.

Not sure what set me off this morning... Especially since I am enjoying another beautiful sunrise. We have a lot to be thankful.
Reminds me of a story about my wonderful Father in law!!!

They were building a road. Had it all mapped out. A couple huge oak trees in the way, they were fixing to cut 'em. Until Richard got ahold of 'em. Seems as if it's illegal to cut big old oak trees. Anywhere. So, he got involved and they had to move the whole doggone road!!!! Ain't that a hoot!!!!!!!

I have no idea if it's just oaks, or just big ones, or whatever, but here in the state of Texas it is illegal to cut down big ol' oaks. Of that I am certain!!!!!

Morning, Pops and pen pals. I played a full round of golf yesterday and didn't do too bad considering I hadn't played much lately. It was a lot of fun and felt good being back out on the course. Today I'm going to the optometrist to get fitted for a pair of glasses. Hopefully they can allow me to see normally or close to it. Y'all have a good day.

Morning Pops and everyone else. Had to go to the city yesterday to get my ankle/foot orthotic and felt like the cat turned loose on Manhattan streets, I thought the old people here were funky drivers. I think I am officially no longer trained for city driving. You get used to it, kind of drive with an edge and your head on a swivel with all of the "nope, don't like this lane, let's try that one over there...…..I'm sure that driver won't mind" and "oh hey, here's my turn".

Y'all make this a fine day and if you can't, reach for the top shelf, life's too short for cheap whiskey.

Morning Pops. Morning Fellas and good morning to all who stop in to share a Thursday with the thread.

It is my hope that all are well this morning. Looks like it's a little cloudy today. Might get more rain, we'll have to see.

Youngest Boy is coming over today for supper. I guess we are having Chicken Salad. Not like Chicken Salad Sandwich, which I love, but Salad with oriental chicken on it. I, of course, wanted Tacos. Not so much.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, sunny side up y'all!

Everybody, one more day and then the weekend is here! Maybe find something to do and spend a few hours having fun. That's never a bad thing. Have a good day everybody!

Afternoon Pops and friends. Mother Nature is on a tear, so praying everyone is safe in the coming days.

I did a lot of yard work yesterday and snuck into my neighbor's yard to help her with some brush. She eventually ran me out, but my OCD will not be denied! Her yard problems are easy and all in the shade. I've got a clipper on a long pole and she might see that thing leaning over the fence this evening. I hate yard work, but hate not finishing projects more. Thank you for the offer @kskboys. It's a shame I don't live closer, but the neighbor behind me takes the fence down and mows my yard for me. She's getting ready to buy a new zero turn mower and loves mowing more than just about anything. Clearing her brush seems like the decent thing to do.

Good luck with the glasses, @LeonDixson.

Ok @CouchCoach, what fancy name have you given your ankle/foot thing? Don't give it a female name or Hector will try to break a hip to meet her.

Enjoy that young'un, @ABQCOWBOY and have some Chicken Salad for all of us.

Have a good Thursday everyone!

Gramma, as my weatherman keeps telling me "Turn around, don't drown". Find a fashionable life jacket for work and stay safe. o_O
We're all good here. Waters have receded significantly and businesses are finally able to start assessing damage. I know though no matter how bad we get flooded at any given time, the further down that Mississippi River you go the worse it gets.

Well, I have a big old oak that's coming down as soon I find someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg for a limb and a trunk.

Morning Pops and TGIF to everyone, regardless of whether you're working or not! I've been remiss in my duties here in this thread lately. I don't know why, but I just keep forgetting to come here.

CC, is today your anniversary? If so, I hope you'll be smiling today, thinking about all the good times you had with her. You know we're here for you, if you need to talk....or if you just want to share some memories.

Sorry to hear about your bad morning Gramma......You should probably let go of that guy's tie, before it's too late!
Ha ha ha, no, not that kind of bad morning. I got into my own head last night about what I see as massive hurdles in front of me and now I'm deep into a funk. Hopefully this work day isn't too rough. I have a chiro appointment this evening...maybe he'll 'crack' it out of me.
