Myth of no open receivers

Dak struggled to read the field in college. It was an issue earlier in the season. People talked about it in wins against Washington. Wins all season long.

Suddenly people are surprised and are attacking Dak if they point this out? It's stupid.

Right now Dak is the weakest link on our offense. He's been that way all year. And it cost us Sunday. That doesn't mean he's horrible or not the future. That means he's a 4th round rookie driving a Porsche. And he he's been doing a good job but Sunday he scuffed the bumper trying to parallel park.
Romo was an undrafted free agent driving a Lamborghini, drove it off a cliff.

I don't know but the good news is we ARE going to get that opportunity. We will see Romo very soon wouldn't surprise me to see him this week.
We will see Romo in Week 17 in a meaningless game against Philly.

I believe teams originally wanted to make him dink and dunk and wait for him to make a mistake. Now they are trying to make him go deep and it's working much better.

That's true but I've also noticed he is holding on to the ball on his first read longer than he did earlier. Earlier in the season, people were complaining there were WRs downfield open but Dak would throw it to Witt or Bease on shorter routes.

When I watched all-22, he would come off of his first read immediately if the WR didn't have separation on longer routes. Past few weeks, I've noticed he tends to hold on to the ball longer waiting for WR to get open instead of dumping it off to Witt or Bease on shorter routes .

I could post gifs, but I'm tired of this already.

There was another play where Beasley split the two defenders and was wide open streaking to the endzone. That was a walk in TD that Romo would have cashed in on.

I love Dak. Couldn't be more happy we have him on the team. But the guy had one of the worst games I've ever seen. And he's been missing open receivers all year long. It's not just this game. He's a rookie. It's expected.

But I want a Super Bowl, not growing pains.
you can do this same thing with any qb, I know, I used to do it with romo, yes he missed open guys too.

Thing is a qb can only look at one guy at a time, he isnt up in the sky like your camera, so it it different perspective and 1 guy at a time.

The guy has to be open or good to throw to when he looks at him.
When looking at the deeper guys, he is not going to see guys in close who may be wide open.

The only way to be like the qb is let the film roll no stopping it, and look at 1 guy at a time and even still your seeing it from the sky view.
with no one about to smash you, no noise, and nothing in front of you.

When dak looks at a guy he may not be open, he looks to next guy and first guy comes open but he wont see him.

Then put Dak back in. Seriously, this is not a very good argument against playing Romo. If he can take a hit, great. If he can't, Dak is back in. What's the problem?

No prob from Jerry and Garrett's perspectives. Just \fans hating seeing Dak play.

Were receivers open during the game?

Read what Sturm says and forget what your own eyes see huh ? Lol good tactic keep going with that one it might work someday.

Since Sturm hasn't writting the article I don't know exactly what he'll say. I'm basing all of this on what I saw and other saw watching the film.

It took Peyton a decade ..

4th quarter, 2:31 left in the game. Just need a field goal to tie. 2nd and 10.

Look at Beasley. LOOK AT BEASLEY. Is he open? Are there "no receivers open"? This play could virtually tie the game up.

So maybe you have been paying attention. You finally posted a picture that supports your point.

Now Dak did throw to an open receiver and it was a nice pass. I do think he rushed his decision making and decided to check down too soon. In that situation late in the game you'd rather he take an extra half second to give Beasley time to cut. Maybe he noticed the late blitz from his right? Maybe? Maybe not.

What ever you do, don't say anything about the golden rookie. I am just as happy as anyone that we landed a really bright, driven young man to play for years to come for Dallas. However, you've got to be kidding yourself if you believe his flaws as a rookie aren't piling up. Masked by a Pro Bowl front, Zeke, and a surprising defense. His footwork is still sloppy and causes poor location. He holds on to the ball FOREVER. A common rookie issue, because he can't read the field at a vet QB speed yet. He's got all the tools, and a bright future. I still believe a healthy Romo would have won that game. Opinions are opinions though.

Real question: How often did Romo throw into tight windows?

Tight windows seems to be everybody's favorite buzz words these days

I don't recall Romo being Aaron Rodgers when it came to tight window throws.

I had not noticed that. I'll look for that next game.

Everyone is covered on this play except Zeke who is wide open. Wide Open. He has to see that.
I think the quip by Jerry Jones is the best indicator that someone is in his ear with the fact that Prescott is apparently leaving "meat on the bone"...and because of that, Jones is hedging...and now he is doing so publicly and in an awkwardly cryptic way...but the cat's definitely out of the bag now. No one really cares about such business as long as the team is winning, but when losses come, the critical examination will make some interesting reveals.

Best ever? LOL. One of the greats, but that's a stretch.
