The amazing thing about this guy is that he just got a 1.2m signing bonus and he comes to camp with a really bad attitude...his head is not into football and he looks lost.

You would think as a second round pick he would come prepared and work extra hard, and be happy all the time -- I mean he just got a 1.2m check. I can't believe how spoiled these guys are.....

Bad attitude and NO effort. Doesn't seem to know the plays...is he mentally challenged or does he not give a damn.

I'm down on him too, but keep in mind that the magical world of editing on a TV show can make Charles Manson look like a choir boy if thats what they want to do.

:lmao2: He looks like he's ingnoring his coach but he really isnt. He looks like he acting like a six year old when he's told to put his helmet on and he takes as long as he can to do it but he really isnt. He looked like he was ignoring his coach and lauhging after he walks away but he really didnt.

This isnt some Sci-Fi film with special effects. I dont see the Cowboys organization letting them edit all the good and show all the bad for ratings or whatever reason.

I went to Texas A&M and I knew Martellus...

I expected this because he is coming from a system where he did whatever he wanted.

Coach Franchione was the worst coach ever. Ever.

Martellus was a 5-Star Recruit from a small city in Texas and was a god before he stepped foot on campus. Recruited as a two sport star (Football and Basketball) - he got alone on talent alone in football, but that did not fly with Coach Billy Gillispie. Gillispie pushed him, benched him, and he got very few minutes - two practices at once were tough, school was hard, and he decided to pursue the NFL

I was one of the few who said he is not ready to be an NFL Starter before the draft just based on the fact that he needed someone to kick his *** in practice. Someone to push him because he's never really been pushed before.

He's gotten by on talent alone and that doesn't fly in the NFL.

Remember that he's still a kid. He's still a project in the sense that he needs to show that he will respond to constant criticism 24/7 and show a will to improve. If he does this, which I think he will start to by Year 2, then he will be a special player. If he doesn't, he'll be one in a line of many NFL busts with tons of lost potential.

He is worth a 2nd round pick - because had he had that "kick in the ***" in college, he would have been a early-to-mid 1st round pick.

Enough with this, Cut him nonsense.

Give him time.

you're correct, the coaching staff knew he was going to be a handful.

but i bet they also aren't dumb enough to think they were gonna crack him in a couple weeks.

At this point in time it's not about coaches trying to 'crack' players. They are being paid a handsome salary. It's time for them to act like men and own up to the responsibility of being an NFL player.

If that's too much for him then Jerry made a huge mistake.

Thanks mv09. Your response was much better than the AbeBeta one that was out of place.

this is from archer tonight..

**Martellus Bennett put together back to back solid practices, and he caught the eye of owner and GM Jerry Jones. Bennett was particularly good as a point of attack blocker, but he also had a catch down the middle of the field after running a crisp route the gave him separation from the safety.

The problem with this is that he's supposed to be doing those things.

Then he gets special attention from Jerry for doing those things because Jerry is trying to encourage him every single minute of every single day.

But is he laughing behind Jerry's back as well?

Not regarding this player perhaps.

But it's time to reel in the free money that first round players get. It's pathetic.

And I do realize he was not a first rounder, but it does indeed trickle down.

I just dont really see the problem, Im sure we didnt draft Bennett to be an immediate superstar or a pro bowler or even an immediate starter. Bennett is more talented in every way that Fasano, Bennett has the ability to put Fasano's career numbers in 2 or 3 weeks. So what that hes not doing good now, He's 20 years old. we have the best TE in the NFL and thats saying something, and he's 26 so we can afford to have players to develop. His upside is way better than Fasano so whats the problem. Whats the big fuss. Since this site is full of GM, who should we have drafted in the 2nd round. Like seriously, this is a big overeaction. He's a kid, he has to grow up, thats it.

Laughing at your coach as he walks away from you on a National TV Show while already being portrayed as an immature fool who doesn't have the heart or desire to be an NFL player isn't troubling to you?

Deon Anderson is kid who has to grow up. But he still works hard and earns his money. He came from a tough life and he's trying to do what he can to learn how to become a professional athlete.

So far Bennett is going in the complete opposite directon of what Cricket has done since he was drafted.

And please don't tell me you didn't see Hard Knocks tonight.

Yeah i did, and i think the kids needs alot of work. But i really dont thinks its as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. People are acting like this rookie needs to be some big part of our team this year. And the Fasano reference is whats really funny. People act as though we traded away a probowl player and drafted this kid to take his place. lol, thats whats funny. We are a talented enough team where at this point we can reach on a couple players with a big upside; we dont have to depend on rookies making an immediate impact. So who cares what happens to Bennett. Drafting him wont hurt us like say, Drafting Ryan Leaf hurt the Chargers. Believe me. The sky is not falling.

Here's the video. It's a Google, progressive download.

Ok, so what exactly was i suppose to get out of that video beside a good laugh. A rookie missed a block and dropped a pass in his first NFL preseason game. Ummmm ok, im sure that has happened a lot in the NFL. The funny thing about it is at the end where it says that he embarrased the Cowboys, Jerry Jones and him self. LMAO. How did he do that by being a rookie and making Rookie misstakes. LMAO. Yall are overreacting

Right over your head.

You don't think Jerry Jones is embarrassed that his 2nd round draft pick who just got a big chunk of his money is openly laughing into a camera about his position coach trying to help him?

You sound like your attitude is about in line with Bennett's.

Who cares, who gives a ****, no one died so it's no big deal, right?

:welcome: to The Zone. Very impressive first post. I haven't seen the episode, but you can bet the team will since we've already been told they watch the episodes. Veterans will pull him aside and he will get the picture or they will make his life miserable. The coaches will have also seen it or heard about it and they can do the same. Teams discipline like this all the time.

Well I don't really think he is. Don't think he is in the busness of being embarassed about it. If he gets cut in a couple years. What exactly would be the problem. we don't even really need him, so what's the problem. Seriously. What's the big deal. And please don't question my maturity by comparing me to this clown. I just don't care about him or his spot on the team. I would be completly happy with tony curtis.

wow...I just watched the Martellus segments that were posted on page 6 of this thread.

I seriously think the guy has some kind of learning disability. If you hear what he says and look at his actions, he doesn't necessarily seem defiant as most are interpreting. Even when Garrett tells him to put on his helmet, Martellus looks like he's trying to pay attention to the play but can't do two things at once.

After rewatching episode 1, when Garrett tells him to tuck the football, it first appears that Bennett is confused about throwing the ball back to the QB and then Garrett tells him to tuck the ball. Tellus actually tucks the ball but does a really crappy job of it, which requires Garrett to ask him to do it again. Once again, not exactly defiant behavior, just slow.

Yah...laughing to the camera is not a good thing and appears to be mocking behavior. I've seen this kind of thing plenty of times. Kids who don't know what they are supposed to do make jokes or laugh it off because it's better to appear a clown than stupid.

I honestly think that part of Martellus Bennett's problem has to do with some kind of learning disability that makes it difficult for him to learn. I think the other part relates to what others have said. He's probably gotten his way for a long time and it's hard to have someone else telling you how to do it.

Anyone have any idea what his wonderlic score, GPA at A&M, or SAT/ACT scores were? I'd be curious to see if the scores might lend credence to my hypothesis.

I have to agree with this. I saw the episode, and when everyone sees that, Bennett will wish he never did that. Probably going to have to come from someone outside of Garrett or Witten, more like Jerry or Wade with some team ribbing.

Becoming obivous that he is becoming a bad target on the show, and you have to wonder if he doesn't change quickly how he will be seen by his teamates.
