Now you all see why blaming Dak's contract was foolish, right?

I'm not entirely sure Dak has always been deprived of talent around him. He did have a young Zeke. Jerry went and got Amari SPECIFALLY to help. Gave him CeeDee.

I think maybe the line was suspect after Frederick left (which I also believe in several ways helped cause Zeke's quick demise). And the RB for the last couple years too. WR2 and 3...not particularly memorable. :)

I don't think Dak was good enough to take advantage of any of it. I think a good QB can take advantage of a couple stars and an average cast. MAke them look better than what they actually are. Dak never really did that.

All just my opinion, what do i know!
I never said he was deprived of talent. In 16 the cowboys undoing was exactly the same as 14 under Romo the defense caved. 18 the Rams rushed for over 250 against the cowboys and Jarrod goff sealed with his scramble. 21 and 22 you could make a case for blaming dak especially 22 but there were other factors as well. Of course we know the GB debacle was an attrocious defense showing along with daks putrid output. Sure Dak hasn't been good enough to overcome the other aspects of the team.

I think the line got worse when Leary left and yes Tfred getting his illness took away a huge part of their line and Tyron started getting dinged up alot

I know weve had this conversation before but I actually like the 14 version of the cowboys better than the 16 and beyond. Murray was a big reason they got there and a big reason they lost that fumble was huge but they had their chances still. defense let them down.

dont matter how much Dak or Romo got paid it takes more than a QB.

This thread somehow keeps living so I'll say it again. Just because Jerry stinks or we have a potentially underwhelming hire as HC, doesn't mean that Dak doesn't have a bad contract.

He does. He's a middling QB at this point carrying the cap hit of an elite QB. That's a problem. It just is.

Well Dak came out of college and immediately took Romo's job and retired him.... i guess that means Dak was better than him.
Romo and Moore got injured prior to the start of the regular season, opening the door for Dak to start. Dak played so well he never relinquished the job which led to Romo’s release after the 2016 season. Injuries caught up with him and he retired.

I thought for sure they’d let Dak and the coach walk. Now I don’t know what they’re going to do. It’s almost like you need to forget about trying to win and just build a team you like to watch. So I say draft a good RB, keep the OL in good shape and try to get a dominant DL.

The Jones idiots were cheap even when Dak was on his rookie deal.

The Jones idiots have been cheap with outside free agents for YEARS.

The Jones idiots are cheap EVEN WITH COACHES, and there is no salary cap for coach contracts.

They paid Dak. Big whoop. They waited until the start of the season to pay him, BY DESIGN, so that they wouldn't have to spend another dime last offseason aside from CeeDee's deal.

They're a cheap and useless ownership group. Fans who blamed Dak or Dak's contract were essentially letting the Jones idiots off the hook for their lack of FA signings. Don't do that.

Many other teams paid their QB $50M+, and none of them were even close to as cheap as the Cowboys with outside free agents.

Jalen Hurts signed for $51M/year. The Eagles are ALSO paying AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and *drumroll please* Saquon Barkley. They also have maybe the best OL and best defense in the NFL.

But Dak and CeeDee are supposed to win big, all on their own, because they're the "highest paid" at their positions? Bull****.

SELL THE TEAM!!!!!!!!

This site's posts are like watching the movie Ground Hog Day over and over and over again. The only reason this organization isn't that good on the field of play is because of the ownership group, nothing less, nothing more.

This is stupid, dishonest accounting by hacks. Let's just pretend extensions don't count as money paid to players.

The Cowboys could've spent $0 or $1000000 in free agency and Dak's contract would still be the 2nd worst contract in NFL history, only behind Deshaun Watson.

Dak is also a major reason a career loser coordinator like Brian Schottenheimer is the head coach right now. Because he values comfort and continually over accountability.

Dak got what he wanted and his fans (the very few left) have another excuse for his failures.

Dak Prescott is Jerry Jones in player form. He is about about nothing else but Dak Prescott.
Now do Tony Romo. He got paid too. Didn't win. It's not an indictment of either of them. It's an indictment of how this franchise has run and the team building.

A lot of QBs get paid and don't win.

Dak and Romo are talentless, perpetual, loser QBs that got paid.

There's a difference in paying someone like Josh Allen who gets close but can't get past Mahomes than someone like Dak or Romo who will never sniff a Super Bowl.

Jerry, Dak, and Romo all suck. All those can be true at the same time.

Its not just the contract, its him. His ceiling his making the playoffs.

Blah blah blah J Hurts is bad My Dak is king, blah blah blah, J Hurts is only playing the SB this Sunday because he is lucky, blah blah blah... My Dak should be playing the SB... Blah blah blah.

Dak has Jerry and Stephen as GM. A competent GM could still add talent around him.

Blaming Dak is absurd.
A competent GM would've never signed Dak an extension. End of problem.

Posting 3 laughing emojis doesn't make your point come across any better. Just makes you look like a clown.
Thanks for the advice, Guy Whose Feelings I Probably Hurt At Some Point!
:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

"DURRRR IF ONLY WE DIDNT PAY DAK!!! JERRY WOULD'VE SPENT HIS BUTT OFF!!!"
:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Again, this does not include extensions. I don't care if they spend in FA or by signing their own players. I care they spend efficiently and up to the cap.

There is a corresponding list ranking NFL teams in terms of money spent resigning their own picks.

I am not saying that would conclude anything either but you do not even understand what you are championing. You just double down on what was argued already and posture with smilies.
