Not at all. Rozelle much like Tex worked together promoting and protecting the iconic label.Pete Rozelle is rolling in his grave
After thinking about your post more on the sports book connection with NFL I thought there was a more direct business connection with the league . Indeed there is.For the life of me I can't understand why they didn't call a penalty on that play. The only thing I can think of was that the ball was there when the WR got hit. Or almost there. But he clearly hit him right in the helmet. Even if you want to dismiss the early hit as debatable, the helmet to helmet was the foul.
What has the NFL ever done to appease the fanbase? Why should they? Give me a reason. If you keep buying the shoe leather I sell you to eat, and I am making a fortune from it, why the hell would I care what you think about it? You keep buying it. I'm not doing anything to improve it. You would have to compel me in some way to change. Not just bellyache.
True and the only way to force change is thru litigation, financial hardship or public scrutiny .For the life of me I can't understand why they didn't call a penalty on that play. They're just sponsors. The NFL doesn't have any legal liability. Yes, the NFL can be paid to promote them, that doesn't mean they have to do anything to change their product. They could run the risk of losing money. But that would be the only thing to compel them to better their product. They don't have to do it legally. After thinking about your post more on the sports book connection with NFL I thought there was a more direct business connection with the league . Indeed there is.
NFL announces agreements with four approved sportsbook operators
Published: Aug 30, 2021 at 11:15 AM
NEW YORK -- The National Football League (NFL) today announced it has reached agreements with FOX Bet, BetMGM, PointsBet, and WynnBET to become Approved Sportsbook Operators for the 2021 NFL season. These agreements make all four operators eligible to purchase NFL in-game commercial units and other select NFL media inventory.
This past April, the NFL announced its first-ever U.S. sportsbook partnerships with Caesars Entertainment, DraftKings and FanDuel. As part of those deals, in addition to having the exclusive right to leverage NFL marks within the sports betting category, integrate into NFL O&O properties, and activate around retail and online sports betting, Caesars Entertainment, DraftKings and FanDuel may also leverage their Approved Sportsbook Operator status to secure premium NFL advertising inventory during games and around ancillary programming. No sportsbooks outside of these seven operators will be permitted to purchase this select NFL advertising and media inventory.

Flamma- I quoted where you stated there wasn’t any concern or connection from the NFL on sports betting. But this link which I quoted a couple key paragraphs spells it out. Sorry I quoted the wrong post. It was post#75
I'd put money on it that they could not produce a tape because nobody gets held nearly as much as Parsons does without getting the calls. If the team didn’t have bigger problems they could. There is not a league wide conspiracy against Micah. It’s just how the league is protecting QBs by allowing more holding.
We'll see about that when the class action lawsuits start up.That's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. Gamblers are fully aware of the state of officiating in the NFL: it's not like it's some secret. If they aren't factoring it in, tough. They have no special right to better officiating.
How much money you got ?I'd put money on it that they could not produce a tape because nobody gets held nearly as much as Parsons does without getting the calls.
Go ahead and try to do it. There absolutely is a conspiracy going on this year. Prove me wrong by showing me just one player with more pressures, less holding calls for, and with as many blatant no calls as we have seen so far for Parsons.
Can't be done.
There could be legal liability if the integrity of the games results were in question. Not to mention the pressure from Congress to uphold their Antitrust status. They're just sponsors. First of all I wouldn’t describe all of these non calls against Parsons not being called as a Conspiracy.I'd put money on it that they could not produce a tape because nobody gets held nearly as much as Parsons does without getting the calls.

I've been saying this to everyone who claims the games are scripted or fixed.(Though, much less verbosely ) It doesn't even budge their cynicism.I am not a gambler, but since the courts ruled that gambling on sports is legal, sports leagues, which are heavily bet on by legal gamblers, may ultimately be held responsibile for bad calls, especially those that are easily avoidable if everything was reviewable.
Add to that the NFL's antitrust exemption and there is likely a high-powered law firm just waiting to file a class-action suit and I am sure there are few people in congress that would jump at the chance to drag the NFL into a public investigation.
When it was mostly about owners and players making money, the fans and their complaints were mostly ignorable by everyone and the media benefitted from the NFL so it gave them little reason to bite that hand either.
Now though, things are different. The outcomes of games now represent a lot more than just fan happiness and satisfaction. Gamblers lose money. Cities lose revenue if they lose home playoff game hosting, etc.
Wth sports gambing now court-confirmed to be legal, the onus falls squarely on the NFL to provide and maintain integrity of games.
It would be one thing if the technology did not exist, but it does and it is available to everyone.
Do you have any links supporting the prospects of Class Action suits on the table ? I just googled it and didn’t find anything .We'll see about that when the class action lawsuits start up.
So if the gamblers can afford to lose money, it's okay to have crappy officiating? If you're wagering money you can't afford to lose on sporting events, then you deserve whatever comes your way.
We’ve always had questionable and inconsistency in officiating .So if the gamblers can afford to lose money, it's okay to have crappy officiating?
But the NFL wanted to legalize the gambling, and it benefits them. They have a responsibility to put out an honest and fair product. It's akin to a casino having loaded dice or brakes on the roulette wheels.I get what florio is saying. but NFL is not there for gambling. its an entertainment business. Gambling is a side business flourishing as a result of NFL being what it is. league should manage its rules for itself, not to appease gamblers.
I agree, that officiating can be better. should be better. for the sake of the game and those playing and their fans, but not because of gambling
That new segment of wagering are dumber than dirt and deserve to lose. And they prob expect to like all the fools who feed Vegas.I think this offseason a major change is on the horizon. There is too much money on the line for them to do nothing. Bettors bring a whole new era of people to the game. I know people who know nothing about football but drop thousands a week go to bars and watch.
if I was the NFL I’d limit the access for the fans. Limit the replays and views. If fans have same angle and views the officials do they won’t be questioning callsBut the NFL wanted to legalize the gambling, and it benefits them.
