Philly Enquirer: What if Wentz had Prescott's supporting cast?

We knew they had a great defense. That much is true. But their best offensive player, by far, is a 34 YO scat back. Their OL is weak at key positions (OC and OT) we just can't take advantage of. We came out flat and made multiple uncharacteristic mistakes from the bobble of the first kick and still won the game in the end.

I'm reserving judgement on this PHI team until year end. They just played us and MIN well in back to back weeks, but I still think they're a team with fairly significant talent deficiencies.

Sproles may be 34 but he's still one of the deadliest backs in this league. His age allows for him to not get many touches but my heart stops each and every time he gets the ball.

Take a good look at wentz game.. he throws 80 mph on 5 yard passes. He's a first read qb. He rarely scans the field, he had time to throw last night. It was Dak who was facing pressure blast night against the best front 7 in football and he was throwing all over the field in the 4th quarter and OT.

from the Philly Enquirer:

"Prescott is certainly a nice find for the Cowboys as a fourth-round pick. But having such a strong supporting cast really helps him. One could only imagine if Wentz was in the same position. It’s not hard to imagine he’d be having even more success than Dak has had."

Typical Philthy...

If he had our defense and ST he would probably be 0-7.

Mine, too. He's amazing, and a very underrated player. SD was insane to let him go for a song. But he's at an age where the end is near, fortunately.

What if Wentz was asked to throw longer than 5 yards?

Longest completion all night was 14 yards. We had 5 players with longer pass catches. You were certainly watching two different concepts for sure. Not sure how you complete as many passes as Wentz did and average 5 ypa. That is really hard to do. Says a little bit about our defense. They got almost no YAC.

Sproles even at 34 is still one of the fastest players in the NFL, and depending on what Philly's record is at the end of the season we know that RB will be their biggest need in the 2017 draft and there will be plenty of them to choose from anyway back to reality I could care less about the Eagles glad the Cowboys got the ugly win last night.

I agree with the Wentz comment. He is better than Dak at the moment, and if he had his weapons he would definitely do better with our offense.

If it weren't for "if's", "ands" and "buts" we'd all have candy and nuts.

I don't know man lol.....I guess if his body can't hold up or mentally he wants to give up but man.....he looks like he has a lot in the tank. They need another running back if Ryan Matthews is in the dog house because they tried to live and die by Sproles yesterday.

Am I the only one that feels like the Philly fans and media want to justify all they traded for Wentz so they have to knock Dak to do it when we got him in the 4th round?

He looks great. I'm going purely off of my RB actuary table here. Though there have been plenty of RBs who look great one year and then fall of the cliff once you get up over 33 years old.

I thought the times we did get pressure on Wentz he panicked a lot more than Dak did.

Not surprised. It's not like Philly in general has the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to sports media. They are doing everything in their power to deflect Carson's struggles instead of admitting he's been nothing more than mediocre so far.

What would Wentz be like under the pressure Dak faced? The what if game is a losers proposition. Ask Romo!

I will say this much then I am done

Dak does not have pro arm - how many throws were off the way off mark - Dez should have had 3 tds an T Will 1

Wentz does

Dak has a good offensive line an some good WR's

Wentz does not

My only point was that their best offensive player is at the end of his career. They've got a lot of moves to make to address their offense, and they're not all easy moves to make when you're talking about rebuilding most of the OL and basically all the skill position players.

Yessir he is Idgit and I agree Pederson, has the same challenge Garrett had and still has in rebuilding the team and true it doesn't happen overnight.
