Well said LaTuna

Outstanding post.
Saladin, why is it that everytime I write a particularly obnoxious post, I mean one intentionally pompous and supercilious with no aim but to bust balls, you tell me it's "outstanding".

Just wonderin, my friend. :D

WG, can you be a doll and post some Chad Hutchinson updates too? :)
I'll look for something for you. You want something bashing Dallas or just on his progress in Chicago?

I aim to please. ;)

I am really angry with the poster bringing this up.
So sorry Cobra. I didn't realize I had to run my posts past you before putting them up on the board. Thanks for clearing that up tho. Just so we don't anger you in the future, please clarify for all us ignorant posters the procedures on how to check with you first. Or do you have a pre-printed list of topics you approve of that we quivering peons are allowed to post?

Anyone have any thoughts on Hutch?
As a matter of fact, I would be curious to know what's happening with him. Not because I'm enamored of him--just curious. If nothing else, it's interesting to watch the fates of NFL players, period, just to see how accurate initial draft assessments are. Take Akili Smith--first round draft pick, just released today (or yesterday) after being given what was probably his last chance with NFL Europe. Then there's Tom Brady, seventh round draft pick. Just interesting is all. So yes, I'm kinda curious about Hutch.

A feel good warm fuzzy one would be nice. Complete with commentary from Lovie Smith about how much progress he has made and how the Bears are just thankful to have him. Make sure it explains how he overcame his painful breakup with Richmond Flowers and has conquered his addictions to kareoke.

Make sure it talks about how he led the Bears to a glorious victory against Minnesota last season too. If you can find one where former Bear offensive coordinator Terry Shea was blamed for not considering the blitzes he would face would be simply outstanding.

Thank you very much!

:)

No, he had no drug problems. There fore, he's not elligable for any sympathy or well wishes on this here board.
Dude--QC has bipolar disorder. Know anything about that? That's not drugs. That's a very serious mental disorder that affects thousands of people in this country. And something to feel sorry for with any of them. (I'm not saying that QC didn't do drugs. As I've posted repeatedly, I'm not excusing the drugs. But mental illness is a very very hard thing to live with--even in mild forms like depression.)

This is from your original post, KM.

A source close to Carter just told me that Quincy Carter will be leaving his intreatment rehab after a 6 week stay. Also says that Carter doesnt feel he's bi polar, that hes just been really stressed about his mother

If anyone really wants to know about Hutch, well, I have been keeping tabs on him.

It's kind of a crowded house in Chi-Town now,

Last I read was the excellent NFL Europe season of Kurt Kittner had really thickened the soup. The new OC there, Turner, is supposdly high on Kurt's performance.

So it's five QBs in their camp I guess: Grossman, Krenzel, Hutch, Orton, and that other kid who played in Europe - Dimwitty.)

Yeah that pretty much sums up the situation w/Hutch. Latest says they have 5 QBs and they're only taking 4 to camp. Grossman, Hutch #2, and Orton are locks. So it's between Krenzel and Kittner.

There was something warm and fuzzy awhile back by Lovie. But I can't seem to find it at this very moment. I think it's because I'm hungry.

I agree whole-heartedly. It's good to see that not everyone here is like Dbair.
I wish the best for every former Cowboy player. I think Antonio is very immature, but has some real talent and could be a very good player in time. I understand the reticence concerning QC, but he is a good person and a talented young QB who just needs a situation in which he has the full support
of his management instead of the luke-warm support he got here. I actually think it's a positive that he was in drug rehab because it shows that he is trying to overcome his problem instead of denying that it exists. I also believe that Carthon knows that Carter can actually play in this league and knows how to use him. Plus Crennel has reviewed last years Cleveland vs Jets game and knows that Carter beat his team despite a fine defensive performance and Crennel has game planned for Carter in the 2003 Dallas vs Pats game and knows that QC put up respectable numbers against their super bowl caliber defense with inexperienced receivers and THAM.

Kartr, I was a supporter of Quincy Carter, just like I am a supporter of Drew Henson and Tony Romo.

The problem with Quincy Carter was that he had a very serious problem handling pressure and he didnt understand that in the NFL, you were always fighting for your right to keep your job.

Quincy Carter was fine when he didnt have much competition and he was not criticized by coaches. It is when these things happened is when he unfolded and you just cant have that with a quarterback. I have written an article documenting how former quarterbacks have been treated in Dallas.

I am very surprised Carter didnt fold when Parcells arrived and rode him pretty hard his first year. I think part of that was that Parcells understands that you have to treat players differently, and Carter was a guy that he knew he couldnt constantly criticize, as opposed to someone like Roy Williams who is mentally strong enough to handle it (Parcells supposedly told Roy Williams he needed to stop being so hard him and Roy Williams told him to keep it coming).

I think when Vinny Testeverde was signed, Carter really digressed and it made it worse when he complained about it in Training Camp.

See the thing is, you have the old saying that "One bad apple spoils the bunch". This applies to Quincy Carter. See you had a small segment of the population that were never going to accept Quincy Carter no matter what he did. Maybe because they thought he never should have been drafted, or they thought he wasnt the answer and some even didnt like him because he was black. I go to about 3 games a year and me, my cousin and my brother almost had to knock some guys out for being total racists at one game in particular. Alot of these people got alot of air time on The Ticket because alot of the guys on the ticket never liked Quincy Carter and were never going to like him.

Quincy Carter has way too many Demons in his life. Some people can never ever truly get away from those demons. Whenever something negative happens in Carter's life, there is always a chance he will succomb to those demons and spiral downhill.

Katr, just remember, Carter was giving plenty of opportunities to be the starter. Jerry Jones hand picked the guy and told everyone he was this fantastic talent, which put way too much pressure on Carter. Even when Quincy cussed Jerry Jones out on the sidelines during the Cardinals game and Hutch took over, everyone thought Quincy was all but finished. But Parcells swooped in and opened up the competition and Quincy beat out Hutch on the field. Carter was too paranoid and scared of competition when Vinny Testeverde came in. He probably was mad because Vinny was one of Parcells' guys and treated Vinny like a son (Kind of like Bryant and Johnson). But it was Carter's responsibility to beat Vinny out and not worry about everything else. He had just helped take the team to a Playoff game, so those veterans were going to voice their concerns if Vinny was just handed the job.

On another note, I dont root for all former players. Some guys like Dewayne Goodrich you just cant root for. I actually think he is a good guy that put himself in a very serious situation, and like most people, Goodrich panicked and did the wrong thing and everything spiraled from there.

WG, it's hard to say 'this guy is the worst NFL QB I have ever seen", but that Jonathan Quinn gets my vote.

Man alive, even for a backup he was abysmal. I never saw anyone with such a hang dog demeanor..seemed like he never looked off the ground...did not look his team mates in the face, much less rally them. He would throw these odd short plunks! right into the turf. No where near his receiver. Didn't look like he was shell shocked from hits or anything, Just inexplicably "I don't want this thing anymore...here ground, take it".

Funny!!

In the Thanksgiving Day game..that isn't the worst I saw him do. He was just mediocrely inept that day. Others he was stunningly inept.
Trance-like, totally disinterested. I would shoot around Sunday Ticket and check him out..always thought: "if TH could be seeing this, with his ideas on elite QBing". LOL

I guess he as much as anything brought down Shea.

Then Krenzel looked like a comer for a few games, then he dived. Then Hutch looked great vs the Vikes, then he tailed off too.

I think he did enough to secure the back up spot, for now anyway. Who knows what these other kids will do this summer.

The reason is pretty simple. A lot of people chose sides in the Hutchinson/Carter debates and put their "football knowledge" credibility on the line in doing so. When Carter started, the pro-Carter crowd had the upper hand, but when he failed, so did their own sense of superiority.

The only way to regain that feeling of "manhood" (in most cases) is for Carter to perform at a pro bowl level somewhere.

This has less to do with Quincy Carter the player or the person and more to do with our own pecadillos and inadequacies.
Lot of truth in that.

Quinn was pretty horrible as a QB. The quote that got me was when he said "The speed of the game is so much faster than in practice." (or something to that effect) Mind you he'd been in the league 5 years. I couldn't believe he didn't know that already....

Now what's extremely funny is that my pops lives in Chicago and he told me stories about how guys at his job used to rag on him for the Hutch/Quincy. And then when Hutch signed w/them those same guys started calling for Hutch to play when Krenzel and Quinn played so bad. Talk about irony or ironies.

I'm not surprised, WG. You know how it goes. Any player's shot at the HOF exponentially increases once he signs with your team.

Especially in Washington. :D

But yeah, that QB carousel in Chicago..how many years has it been?

since McMahon?

Things can always be worse, I guess.
