Alcohol is MUCH more addictive when compared to marijuana (nearly non existent)?
Pssstttt........Don't tell that to Randy Gregory.

Again, immaturity and a 23 year old pothead without his priorities in check. Nice side step on alcohol btw
Oh, alcohol is no longer a problem...thanks for that illumination also. Us old schools just will have to go relearn the 'new' world of things...
Whatever.I reject nearly all of this to put it simply. While I doubt anyone here is as frustrated as I am in the SB futility of the last 20 years most of what you are saying is borne of a doom and gloom all or nothing mentality.
and I personally see no difference in the two
Whatever.
I'm not trying to convince you what I see.
I'm still trying to unconvinced myself.
Difficult to not admit to what you see after following the team for 45 years.
Since this team shifted from playing football to becoming an entertainment company with this stadium..
football has just dropped off the edge.
It's just what I see.
Like a guy who likes a beer after work...

Chalk up another RKG!!!!
Who was it just last week that was talking about how we could turn around the team and defense in one year? There goes theory. The hope for the defense was that Gregory would morph into a pass rushing demon in his second year. That is pretty much toast now. Two wasted years for him.
I didn't sidestep alcohol. If a player is an alcoholic it can derail his career just as easily as drugs. But the reality is that one legal within the norm and the other is not. Weed proponents point to alcohol at as comparison and make silly statements like one is addictive while the other (weed) is not. Randy Gregory has an weed problem. It's not a stretch to assume he's addicted to the drug at this point since he can't stay clean with millions of dollars hanging in the balance. That's not normal.
Using anxiety to excuse his behavior is an insult to those folks who have anxiety and try to cope with it with medical treatment and carry on with their daily routines (work, family, etc.). Randy Gregory has more medical resources to help him cope with any health issues than most average Americans and he still can't stay off the drug. It has nothing to do with immaturity.

Alcohol is much more addictive than marijuana (which has very low rates). Just look to withdrawal symptoms for that simple conclusion. I get one is legal for cultural reasons, and the other is not. Most potheads are highly psychologically addicted to marijuana with minimal physical addiction (mainly lack of appetite, insomnia, and irritability) as the withdrawal symptoms are very light when compared to booze (alcoholics die/ shake/ sweat profusely/heart attacks, strokes, and seizures).
Gregory's problems are a result of outdated laws, not because he is a bad person or even a legitimate addict. Anybody who has been to rehab will tell you that anyone entering the program for Marijuana are taken as a joke bc it is usually court related or even worse if they self admitted themselves; potheads insultingly compare their addictions to physical addictions like opiates, benzos, and alcohol; officially by group members and unofficially via counselors and physicians.
The reason the anxiety "excuse" is brought up is that weed is widely known to relax people but ignorant fans want him to be treated with highly addictive benzos like Xanax, Clonipin, Valium, etc. He should have the freedom to choose weed, just many choose alcohol (even if he just likes it to relax) over life long and life threatening addiction to those substances makes a little sense...Stepnoski used weed throughout his career as a replacement for painkiller; specifically avoiding the addictive NFL sanctioned pain killers when possible( Vicodin, Perks, Oxy ) even back before the epidemic. Brett Favre agrees with the NFL's legal method
Side step? LOL any substance be it weed or alcohol is a problem when you can't control it. Gregory knows damn well that smoking weed will get him suspended this is not a 1st violation it takes other failed test to get the 4 games suspension. Act like one substance is worse than another is stupid both are problems when a player can't stop doing it. To me him drinking or getting high makes no difference what matters is he is missing 4 games because he can't control his own habit
I agree with your general point, but in time, Gregory's problems wouldn't even exist to begin with if their wasn't consistent resistance to change both in the NFL and US in general.
It is legal in Colorado but employers still have the right to drug test workers and if they fail you can be terminated. Really means nothing if you make it legal it does not remove the fact the people who hire you can and will fire you for getting high or drunk on the job.
Von Miller was suspended for 6 games for weed in 2013 and was just named the SB MVP
